Weekend of January 1, 2,&3 2010 Honor God Deuteronomy 18:20-22

Well, here it is the year 2010, or some would say twenty ten. Regardless of how you want to refer to the year, let us all resolve to honor God this year. Let us all resolve to become more familiar and intimate with Him and His word. One way to honor God is to realize that all have fallen short, all need salvation, and none are going to get into heaven who are not Born Again washed clean in the Blood of the Lamb Jesus, Christians, none. I don’t care how clean cut a person is, I don’t care how nice a person is, it does not matter that a person does not drink, smoke, cuss, wear sexy provocative clothing, etc. If that person is not Born Again, that person is going to spend eternity separated from God in the lake of fire.

One of the nicest groups of people around are Mormons, members of the church of latter day saints. They don’t drink, they don’t use drugs, they don’t cuss, swear, dress provocatively, cheat in business, condone homosexuality or abortion, yet they are all on their way to the lake of fire. And each and everyone of us has the opportunity to introduce a Mormon to the Living God of the Bible.

From the internet site carm.org/false-prophecies-of-joseph-smith:

“Joseph Smith, the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly known as the Mormons, claimed to be a prophet of God. Was he a prophet of the true and living God? There are two ways to find out. First, compare what he says to Scripture and if what the Prophet teaches contradict Scripture, then he is false. The second way is to examine any prophecies that he has made. If a single prophecy fails, then the person is a false prophet. Please note that having several fulfilled prophecies and even a single false prophecy still means that the person is not a true prophet of God. The test for a prophet is not if he gets them most right, but all right.”

The Bible teaches, instructs and commands us to understand that to be a prophet of God, every prophecy must come out 100% true. Joseph Smith claimed to be a prophet, and today’s Mormons change the Bible based upon prophecies and claims made by Joseph Smith.

In Deuteronomy chapter 18 we see God telling Moses about the coming of Jesus. In doing so He tells us how to know a prophet of God from a prophet of satan, for if one claims to be a prophet sent from God and is not, then he or she is a prophet sent by satan.

The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet (Jesus) from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me (Moses); unto Him ye shall hearken; According to all that thou desires of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.’ And the LORD said unto me (Moses), They have well spoken that which they have spoken. I will raise them up a Prophet (Jesus) from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put My words in His mouth; and He shall speak unto them all that I shall command Him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto My words which He shall speak in My name, *I will require it of Him.

But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak *in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him. Deuteronomy 18:15-22

*”I will require it of Him” means that God will judge that person upon their unbelief.

*”in the name of other gods” means on the behalf of satan by any of his many names.

Joseph Smith claimed to be a prophet of God, yet not all of his prophecies came true. Since not all of his prophecies came true, he is not a prophet of God, but of the devil.

In 1835 Joseph Smith prophesied that Jesus would return in 56 years. Folks, the Lord did not return in 1891. That prophecy of Joseph Smith’s determined once and for all who Joseph Smith was a prophet for, not the Living God but the condemned devil.

On December 27th, 1832 Smith prophesied that "For not many days hence and the earth shall tremble and reel to and fro as a drunken man; and the sun shall hide his face, and shall refuse to give light; and the moon shall be bathed in blood; and the stars shall become exceedingly angry, and shall cast themselves down as a fig that falleth from off a fig-tree,"

We just passed the 177 birthday of that so called prophecy. You would think that 64,649 days would have shown that a prophecy claiming something was going to happen in "not many days" that has still not happened, would be seen as a lie even to the most dedicated and staunch of his followers.

Joseph Smith also claimed that Isaiah 11:6-9 was about to be fulfilled.

And the wolf will dwell with the lamb, And the leopard will lie down with the kid, And the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little boy will lead them. Also the cow and the bear will graze; Their young will lie down together; And the lion will eat straw like the ox. And the nursing child will play by the hole of the cobra, And the weaned child will put his hand on the viper's den. They will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain, For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord As the waters cover the sea. Isaiah 11:6-9

Folks, you may not have noticed, but as of today the wolf is not living and playing peacefully with the lamb, the calf and the lion are not hanging around together, nor are the cows and bears grazing side by side in peace and harmony. The lion has not given up eating meat, he is not eating straw like an ox and children are not playing with cobras.

No, Joseph Smith was not a prophet sent by God, and some very nice people who have been deluded by him, are following him straight into the bowls of the lake of fire because they have not had that seed of salvation planted. If you, this day, choose to honor God, you will stop ignoring and avoiding Mormons. Instead, you will look for a reason to show him or her Deuteronomy 18:15-22. You will look forward to the opportunity to introduce them to the Living God and salvation. You need not argue, you only need to ask them to study the prophecies of Joseph Smith and read Deuteronomy 18:15-22.

You know, one of the nice things about evangelizing Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses, is that you need not go out into the weather looking for them, they will come knocking on your door.

God the Father said: So shall My word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isaiah 55:11

God the Son tell us: Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:15&16

And the Lord asks us through the pen of His faithful servant Paul: How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe on Him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? Romans 10:14

Yes gentlemen, let us resolve for the year 2010 to honor God.
