The first thing I want to do is cover the Lords Prayer. Let us look at the context first and then the prayer itself. The context of the prayer is that Jesus' inner circle, His Apostles had, as they were walking, said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray as John taught his Apostles how to pray." (Luke 10:1 ACP/KJV)
Jesus's response to them was:
Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret Himself shall reward thee openly.
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him. After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen. (Matthew 6:1-13 ACP/KJV)
Now, the first thing I want you to look at is that when Jesus is responding to them, He said: "After this manner therefore pray ye:" He did not say, pray exactly like this, but after this manner. What does that mean? It means that what you want to do is use the Prayer Jesus taught as a guideline for yourself in praying to God.
1. "Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward." And "But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret Himself shall reward thee openly." Now, what in the world you ask, has alms giving got to do with praying? That is pretty simple, if you are not right with God you need to get right with God before going to Him and asking Him to move a mountain for you, heal a sick person for you, or deliver your son or daughter, wife or mother from the hand of satan.
You are commanded to tithe. Not to ACP, cause we do not accept money, but tithe you must. Let me give you three examples of tithing; look at Steve Burzlaff, he is a father, a full time worker, a man taking care of his wife's parents, yet, he finds time to tithe to you all, by writing the thought every Friday. Do you know how much Steve get's paid for that? Not only does Steve not get paid anything, it cost him money, for he has to supply his own Bible, computer, internet connection, study time, writing time etc.
Than we have good ole grumpy Mac Maguire, my proof reader for the last 20 plus years. Do you have any idea how much all the time he has devoted to me, and you has cost him, for never has he received one red cent for his work, not one penny. Let me give you and idea of the cost to Mac. One time, during the Clinton regime, I had written somethings that Mac proofed, those things resulted in the FBI showing up at his door. Did he renounce Christ, me and ACP to make the FBI happy? No, not only did he refuse to renounce us, he said to them "Do you have a warrant?" They said no, this is just a friendly call." He said, "Than leave and come back when you have one!"
Than there is Pastor Jim Marstaller, he has a wife, a son in college, a daughter that he and his wife are home schooling and is the full time pastor of a thriving growing church, the Cornerstone Gospel Church in Naples, Maine. The church that my wife and I attend. Rev. Marstaller still finds time to tithe to you, by writing guest sermons and thoughts every time I ask him to.
How do these three find the time? Simple, when one tithes to God's people and God's work, God rewards them openly and many times what they have tithed. What about you? Are you going to God looking for and asking for things without first giving anything back to God out of the abundance that God has showered you with? So, first do your alms giving and then get ready to go to God in prayer.
2. "And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.
Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him."
Now, there is nothing wrong with praying out loud in church when you are asked to by either the Spirit of God or your pastor, there is nothing wrong with getting a few men together and praying out loud one after another. But, for your daily prayer time, go to God in private, just you, Jesus, the Spirit, and the Father.
3. And then: "After this manner therefore pray ye:" after the manner and outline that Jesus has given us pray:
a. "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." My father which is in heaven, Holy, Sacred, Blessed and Great is Thy Name. Lord, please, let Thy will be done, here in earth, just as it is in heaven, for Lord we sure make a mess of things when You leave us to our own devices.
b. "Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors." Lord, give me and mine this day, our daily bread, not just that bread that adds fat to my belly, but that bread which is the most important of all bread, Your Word and Your word, for You have told us Lord, that "Man does not live by bread alone, but by every world that proceeds out of the mouth of God." and it is that bread that I really need and desire, so give me this day, understanding of Your word so that I can be more like what You would have me be.
And Lord help me to forgive those who have debts to me or have trespassed against me so that You can forgive me of my sins, all of those things Lord, that I have done, said, thought and even dreamt that offend Thee, for those things that offend Thee are sin and it those things that I ask Your forgiveness for, so that there is nothing separating You and me.
c. "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever." Oh, Lord, please protect me from temptation and deliver me and mine form evil, the evil one, his minions and his ilk and those who serve the evil one, knowingly or unknowingly.
Now, you get to add in the things you need to praise the Lord for, thank the Lord for and then aks the Lord for. And then you get to say, as Jesus did, "Amen."
The second thing I would like to discuss with you today is found in many parts of the Bible, yet what we are going to look at is how it is written by my ole buddy Paul in his letter to the Galicians.
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Jesus puts it like this, "You can not serve both God and mammon, for you will either love God and hate mammon or hate God and love mammon, yu can not serve both."
But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
If you are a Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian, you are no more trying to earn or work your way into heaven by trying to fulfill the law.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations (jealousy), wrath, strife, seditions(uprising against God's Holy Word and His Holy Word), heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings(excessive partying or partying over the things of this world that offend God), and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. For, if we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Therefore, let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. (Galatians 5: 16-26 ACP/KJV)
The point here is two fold, first, if you are unsaved, you are going to the lake of fire! Second, for those who are truly Born Again Christians, we are going to be tempted, but, with the help of the Spirit that dwells within us, we can go to the Lord, in prayer, asking to be forgiven and strengthened and He will forgive us and strengthen us so that we do not do these things that Paul so aptly reminds us will send us to the lake of fire. For my ole buddy Paul does very nicely tell us that those who do those things, "shall not inherit the kingdom of God." And there aint no purgatory!
Now this brings me to my third point.
You are to help the poor, the sick, and those in need. Doing that is all part of tithing or giving of alms. And I know that many of you feel compelled to give help to those who just got wacked by that big wave out in the South East Asia. And for that I commend you, maybe. Who are you giving through? Are you giving only, as you should, through Christian organizations, such as Samaritans Purse, World Vision and those who will share the word of God with those they help? Or are you giving through heathen satan worshiping and serving organizations such as the united way, the Red Cross, the UN and the many others of satan's front organizations?
If you give through UNICEF, the UN, the Red Cross, the United Way or other secular satan worshiping organizations, you are not giving your alms to Christ, you are tithing to satan! If, on the other hand you are only giving through the Salvation Army, Samaritans Purse, World Vison and other Christian organizations that spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as they distribute aid, than you are giving your alms to God, tithing to Jesus, the Christ, the Messiah, He whom you claim to serve, love and belong to.
Hey, this is only page five, I have time, space and the need to cover point four.
Point four is simple, alms giving, tithing, in place of giving to ACP. Look through your possessions for things you no longer need, or can spare, good stuff, not junk. Make a list of those things, a good careful list and get that list to a local CHRISTian church. Not one of those left wing, pro-abortion, pro-kerry so called Christian churches, but a real God fearing Christ loving church. Bring the list to the Pastor of that church, letting him know that you will either bring that stuff to his church or store it for him till he knows of someone in need of those things, that you can give to, via him and his church. "But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret Himself shall reward thee openly."
How do you know which way the church is? First does the church have a heterosexual male pastor? If so, go to him and ask him if he will pray with you for the President, giving thanks to God that He delivered us out of the hands of the pro-abortion kerry, giving us four more years of the Pro-Life, Born Again CHRISTian professing president Bush. And if you have doubts, just email the pastors name and phone number to me, I or Steve, or one of the other Pastors associated with ACP will call him and grill him for you. If the pastor is other than a heterosexual male, than don't even bother yourself with that church, for it is not a church that preaches all of God's word, it can not be, for no other than a heterosexual male can be pastor.
In closing, and yes, I am done for the day, let me remind you of something Jesus said 1,970 or so years ago. " He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise."
May the Lord in this 2,005th year of the Lord Jesus, bless you and yours, keep you and yours safe and healthy. May The LORD shine His face upon you and yours, being gracious and generous to you, and may He as well, lift up His countenance on you and yours while giving you His peace. May the Lord understand the importance of Mac, Cecily, Steve, and Rev. Jim Marstaller to this ministry. Lord I need them both healthy and able to continue to hold up their ends. Lord this cancer of Mac's is starting to get in the way, this ministry needs him whole, just a thought Lord, is all it will take, just a thought on Your part.
There is a young man, a veteran who suffers from some kind of chemical weapon exposure, in a Veterans hospital in Colorado, he is young, and he is Saved, yet his wife just abandoned him. Please pray for him, Lord, help him and deal with her and those who hurt him, we ask this of the Father in Your name Lord Jesus, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with and bless you all, amen.
The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
