Thank God for Steve,
Today's thought is for Christian wives and Christian women who hope to one day be a wife.
In First Peter chapter three, we see how a wife is supposed to dwell with her husband. The problem is, Peter uses as an example, a Saved wife living with an unsaved husband.
It seems as though many of you want your husband to live and act as a Christian God fearing, Bible believing and obeying Husband, but you want to live a life patented after the teachings of Dr. Phil, Dr. Laura and Oprah. And then you wonder why you are grumpy, nagging and always feeling as though you need to apologize for your behavior. And your husband is less than satisfied with your relationship.
(Please note: The following Scripture is paraphrased from 1 Peter 2:1-7 ACP/KJV) 1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection (subjection as God has commanded in Genesis 3:16b, not in somethings, but in all things) to your own husbands; so that, if any are not Saved, they also may be won over to Christ, by your Christian behavior, speech, and dress. 2 So that while they behold your modest speech, behaviour and dress, coupled with a demonstrated love that causes you to fear hurting his feelings, they come to wonder and start to want to live like you do, to have that peace you have, that peace that only being a Christian brings.
3 Your dress and Behaviour is not that of the flashy and immodest, not of the adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on revealing apparel; 4 No, but instead let it be the quiet and meek behaviour of a loving heart. Loving behaviour towards him and your family, which is in the sight of God of great value. 5 For it was after this manner, that in the old times, did the holy women, who trusted in God behave. They adorned themselves modestly and were subject unto their own husbands in all things, just 6 as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him 'lord'. That same Sarah, whose daughters ye are, as long as ye follow the teachings of Christ for your behavior, speech, dress and thoughts, not the secular, Christ denying teachings of the world.
7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with your wife according to this knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as ones being joint heirs together with you of the grace of Life; and so that your prayers will be not ignored by God. (Paraphrased from 1 Peter 2:1-7 ACP/KJV)
So, while Peter is using the behavior of a wife to win over an unsaved husband, imagine how much better your marriage would be if you treated your Saved husband with that same kind of love and respect. You want your husband to treat you as the weaker vessel, as a joint uheir of the kingdom of Christ, but you want to behave like a nagging equal, a self centered know it all, as if God had said man was created for the woman, not woman was created for the man, and as if God had told Adam that his desire would be to serve and obey Eve, not "thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee."
Now, ye wives, ye daughters of Eve and Sarah, understand this, while Peter used as his example an unsaved husband, for that is exactly how a Saved wife is to behave towards her unsaved husband, you likewise should, and are commanded by God, to treat your Saved husband likewise.
Ladies, you are not your husbands equal, you are his wife, his helpmeet. As far as being under subjection is concerned, there is not one verse in the Bible, anywhere that adds any if, ands, or buts. Regardless of what Oprah, Dr. Phil, Dr,. Laura and so many preachers teach, you are to obey your husband and respect him, even if you think he is wrong, even if you know he is wrong, even if he is wrong. If you would only learn to obey instead of second guessing, criticizing, and talking back both verbally and by behaviour, many a marriage would be fun and not a strain.
Lord help us to understand that You created us, and that in creating us, You created individual roles for us. Help us Lord to study Your word, knowing that it is Your word we will be judged by, not the rules of corrupt man. Thank You Jesus. Amen.
Sha'al shalowm Yruwshalaim.
Never ever forget this: There aint no purgatory!

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
