Thank God for Steve,
There have been books written about Romans 8:29-39, yet, and for good reason, many are not only confused but totally bewildered by those not so mysterious verses penned by the authority and under the conviction of the Holy Ghost.
Let us look at what is written, not in commentary by man, but what is actually written in the word of God, the Holy Bible. What I'm going to do this morning is a study of verses 29-31 and an overview of verses 32-39. First let us look at what the Bible actually says in verses 29-31.
29 For whom He(God) did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He(Jesus) might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He(God) did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified.
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? (Romans 8:29-31 ACP/KJV)
Now, let's break down those verses into plain ordinary everyday good old USA English.
For whom He(God) did foreknow, to foreknow is to know ahead of time, God knew the ones Paul is writing about from before the time He, They, The Trinity, formed the world.
He also did predestinate, Predestinate is to determine ahead of time that person or persons' ultimate destination, to check off his or her name, to write his or her name in the Book of Life way before He even created Adam and Eve.
to be conformed to the image of His Son is to be literally similar to, and fashioned like Jesus.
that He(Jesus) might be the firstborn among many brethren. This simply tells us that we who are Saved, have become younger bothers and sisters of the Lord Jesus.
Moreover whom He(God) did predestinate, additionally, those whom God has predetermined or known all along will be Saved,
them He also called, God calls us, He doesn't just leave us to our own devices, He actually calls us to remind us,
and whom He called, them He also justified, Those who He calls, He also made free or innocent by transferring our sins to Jesus while He hung on the cross.
and whom He justified, them He also glorified. And those who God has made free and innocent, He has also adopted into His family, giving them glory and honor for all eternity in heaven.
So what Paul is saying is simply that God, who knows the past, the present and the future, knew way before He created the world just who would become part of His family as Born Again Washed in the precious, sinless Blood of Himself, Christians. And that He will guide us along, as we guide our own children along, helping us find our true roots and family. God knew from ahead of time who would switch allegiance from satan to Him. And since He knew ahead of time He could write our names in His book of life, the will of the Lord Jesus, as He hung on the cross and died.
Now let's take a look at verse 32-39:
32 He(God the Father) that spared not His own Son(Jesus), but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He(God the Father) not with Him (Jesus) also freely give us all things? By the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for us, being the perfect sinless Blood sacrifice for our sins, we have become part of the Family of God, adopted sons and daughters and therefore heirs to the glory and honor of heaven with Jesus.
33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Once God has forgiven us of our sins, made us innocent in His eyes, is there anyone who can change God's mind and accuse us? For remember, It is God who has the power to forgive and condemn, no one else (see Mt 10:28).
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. While satan tries to condemn us, it is of no use, for God left heaven and came to earth to be the perfect payment of our sins. He then forgave us and made us innocent in His eyes, so while satan rants and raves, Christ sits at the right hand of God and says, "Don't listen to him Father, for the one he rants against and accuses is my baby brother.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, FOR THY SAKE WE ARE KILLED ALL THE DAY LONG; WE ARE ACCOUNTED AS SHEEP FOR THE SLAUGHTER. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him(God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost) that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Verses 35-39 simply tell us that once we have become God's elect, members of God's family, true Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians, there is nothing and no one who can separate us from God or make us not part of His family. (Romans 8:32-39 ACP/KJV)
And there you have it in plain language, I think, Romans 8:29-39. There are so many out there that want to convince you that reading and understanding the Bible is difficult, beyond the abilities of most, but they are lying to you. God wrote His book so that anyone who takes the time to read and study it, if they are truly Saved, can and will understand it.
Lord, thank You so very much for loving me before You even created the world and putting my name in Your Book Of Life. Amen.
Sha'al shalowm Yruwshalaim.
Never ever forget this: There aint no purgatory!

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
