Should a preacher give financial advice? Thursday January 9th, 2003
Should a preacher give financial advice? That's a pretty good question isn't it? But let's go even further, let's make the question, Should a preacher give unsolicited financial advice?
Whether I should or not is inconsequential, for I am going to. I'm going to give those of you in the stock market some advice and I'm going to give the new Governor of Maine, John E. Baldacci some advice. For both the advice is financial in nature and in both cases it is unsolicited. But in the case of the new Governor, it is probably unwanted as well.
Let me start with advice for stock holders. As many of you might know, the cost of malpractice insurance for some doctors is going through the roof. To the causal observer it would seem as if either malpractice insurance is going through the roof for all in the medical profession or that malpractice insurance companies are discriminating against just a small group of surgeons. Surgeons who are just like all other surgeons. Not so my friends, not so at all.
Malpractice insurance companies have raised their rates dramatically on surgeons and others in the medical occupation who do abortions, especially the late term abortions that are done mostly in hospitals. About two years ago, this church joined with others in an effort to find women who had been lied to by their abortionists, men whose babies had been destroyed by abortionists without their consent and others who wanted to sue their abortionists and those who advised them. We, and those groups that we joined, have been successful beyond our wildest expatiations.
To give you just one small example, a woman in California who was hired by an abortion mill to do clerical work, a woman with no medical training, a woman whose highest level of education was high school, was ordered by the abortion mill to assist the abortionist in doing abortions. We are helping her sue. She is suing for multiple millions of dollars.
In Illinois and soon in Maine, information used and recorded in conversations with abortionists and state attorneys will soon be hitting the courts. This is what happened. Young girls, with their parents in the room, on video tape, called various abortion clinics in the area, and said they were 13 almost 14 years old, that they had gotten pregnant by a married man, they wanted an abortion, that he, the married man, would pay for it, but they had to be sure that her parents would never find out 'cause it would kill my daddy'. Not one clinic said that they were required by law to report it to the police since she was underage and her being pregnant was proof that she had been sexually assaulted. The cases in Illinois will be asking for over ten million dollars in each of the many suits. In Maine, it may be even more.
So, if you are in the stock market, you might want to find out if any of the companies you own stock in are insurance companies that either insure abortionists directly or as reinsurers. Or if any of the companies you own stock in own or operate directly or indirectly abortion mills or hospitals.
Now, my unsolicited financial advice for Governor Baldacci. John you took an oath to uphold the Constitution of the State of Maine. You claim to want to balance the budget without rasing taxes. A claim, that in light of your voting record, is hard to take serious. But, if you really want to balance the budget without raising taxes? Simply obey your oath, only fund and spend funds on those things that are clearly allowed by the Constitution of the State of Maine, remember, Article Ten.
Now, no preacher should give advice solicited or unsolicited without solid Scripture to back him up.
Jesus said in Luke 16 verse 13; No one can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and money!
He has also told us in Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill. Abortion is murder, to hold stock in a company that supports the murder of little helpless babies trapped the womb with nowhere to run or hide, is just as much murder as the one ripping that baby apart.
And for Governor Baldacci, Exodus 20:15 Thou shalt not steal. John, when you take people's money under the threat of putting them in jail or confiscating their property and then spend that money on things you are not clearly allowed to do, according to the Maine State Constitution, you are stealing.
Lord, God, Creator of all things, are not 130 million babies enough? Lord how many more babies must be offered up to satan as blood offerings upon the alters of the abortionists before You will put a stop to it? Lord would You not consider doing to the abortionists and their supporters what they do to the babies? But Lord, Your will be done, not mine, but Thine.
God blessed America when she feared Him, now it appears, she may face His wrath.
