Just what is a Truly Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian?

Monday January 16th, 2006
As most of you know, I am not one of those who falls for the "Once Saved Always Saved" slogan. Just as I find slogans like; "love the sinner but hate the sin" rather foolish and with no real meaning, so do I find "Once Saved Always Saved" more than a bit hollow as well.

Today we are going to look at exactly, or more or less exactly how I define a "Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian."

First I think it is important for all to understand that I am a Bible literalist. I firmly believe with all my heart and soul that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost, the Trinity, are not only One, but have caused every word in the Bible to be written. That They either in concert or individually dictated every word that is written or showed select individuals exact visions of past, present of future events and instructed that writer/prophet to describe exactly what they saw as best they could, in the Book we call the Holy Bible.

Now often times I am told that I cannot take the Bible literally that I must take it figuratively or symbolically. There are a couple of things that people can say to me, that will without a doubt really get under my skin. "You can't take the Bible literally" is right up there with "You wouldn't understand." Over the course of my sixty plus years of life, I have come to realize that "You wouldn't understand" really means, "sorry, but I am not smart enough to explain it to you." or "Sorry, but it is really me that doesn't understand, but I'm too proud to admit it so I'll try my best to try and make you look like the stupid one."

Why do I take the Bible literally? Well for two very good, and in my mind, excellent reasons.

First, I have an older brother, His name is Jesus, Yeshua in the Hebrew. He is the smartest, strongest, biggest, most handsome big brother in the entire universe and beyond. And I idolize Him. I love Him, adore Him, and worship the very ground He walks on. I know that there is nothing He can't do and I know that He is zillions of times smarter than me. I know that He created the heavens and the earth and everything in them and on them, including you, me and my little cat Willy. I also know that He says that every word in the Bible came to us via wise men from God via the Holy Ghost's dictation. When I find one of these guys that tells me I can't really take the Bible literally, but have to take it symbolically or figuratively, I have to wonder how it is that I missed the news about he or she created a world the previous week. For you see, everything you see, everything you hear, everything you smell, or taste was created by My Big Brother, Jesus! And He did it in under 144 hours.

Now why is that important? It is important because, since I idolize the Lord Jesus, I have come to be scared of Him, oh not scared in a bad way, but scared to hurt His feelings, afraid of doing something that will make Him upset with me. That kind of scared, kind of as David and the Prophets used Fear of the Lord. So, as a result, all of my preaching leans towards the ultra conservative. I do not want to say anything that offends my Big Brother Jesus, nor do I want to say anything that will cause you to be cast into the eternal lake of fire. If I'm in doubt, I leave the subject alone. And that would be the second good reason.

Second: I am a very conservative preacher who realizes that if I don't understand a part of the Bible, it is not only best for me to leave it alone, but realize that God, who dictated it, is a lot smarter than me, something like a zillion times smarter.

OK, how do I define the term "Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian"?

A Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian is a man or woman who gave His or her life to the Lord Jesus some time ago and since that time has underdone both trials and tribulations, has studied the Word of God, gone to Him repeatedly in prayer and during those times of trial and tribulation stayed with the Lord God of Creation, my Big Brother Jesus. Once a man or woman has reached that point, I believe that they are Truly Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians.

I am not going to go over all the Scripture that disproves, in my mind anyhow, the fallacy of "once saved always saved" if you are not familiar with it. Well, that must mean you are either new here or you have a memory worse than mine. Use the search engine, click ACP and put in "once saved always saved" without the quotation marks.

Even those who claim to accept the "once saved always saved" dogma agree that there are tons of Scripture where it is appears that Jesus is implying that "once saved always saved" is a fantasy.

OK, Let us turn to what my Big brother Jesus said while here on His earth teaching.

Matthew Chapter Thirteen

1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side. 2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto Him, so that He went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. 3 And He spake many things unto them in parables, saying,

Behold, a sower went forth to sow; 4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: 5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: 6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: 8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

10 And the disciples came, and said unto Him, "Why speakest Thou unto them in parables?"

11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. 14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, BY HEARING YE SHALL HEAR, AND SHALL NOT UNDERSTAND; AND SEEING YE SHALL SEE, AND SHALL NOT PERCEIVE: 15 FOR THIS PEOPLE'S HEART IS WAXED GROSS, AND THEIR EARS ARE DULL OF HEARING, AND THEIR EYES THEY HAVE CLOSED; LEST AT ANY TIME THEY SHOULD SEE WITH THEIR EYES, AND HEAR WITH THEIR EARS, AND SHOULD UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART, AND SHOULD BE CONVERTED, AND I SHOULD HEAL THEM (Isaiah 6:9&10).

16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. 17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. 18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; 21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the Word(Jesus), by and by he is offended.

22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

24 Another parable put He forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares(weeds) among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, 'Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?'

28 He said unto them, 'An enemy hath done this'. The servants said unto him, 'Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?' 29 But he said, 'Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.' (Matthew 13:1-30 ACP/KJV)

Now, let's take a closer look at "The Parable of the sower";

19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. These would be those folks who come to church or hear the plan of salvation preached somewhere, haven't got the foggiest idea what they just heard, and before they get a chance to find out, satan or one of his minions comes along and snatches them away with the lust of the eye and things of this world.

20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; 21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the Word(Jesus), by and by he is offended. This would be those who hear the Gospel, rejoice in it, get carried away for a while, but the first time an offer comes to turn from Jesus and His teachings, do it for the things of this world.

22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. This would be those who hear the plan of salvation, claim to accept the Lord, yet do nothing but maybe attend church. Then along comes an offer of money, sex, cars, better job, girl friend, boy friend, political position or some other thing of this world and they latch on to it turning from and scorning my Big Brother, the Lord God of Creation, Christ Jesus.

23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. This would be those who after hearing and receiving the good news of the Gospel, study their Bible, cling to the Lord through prayer and fellowship, not only attend church but are active participants, men and women who, while they may disagree and even argue about the finer points of the Bible, read it, study it, seek it for information and answers. And then go out and work to further the kingdom of God. they are the ones I refer to as "Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians."

Before we move on, I want to make one thing perfectly clear. Men, women and children who fall into the first three groups can still return to the Lord. If they do they were backsliders, and are welcomed with open arms. If they don't they are damned. Now let us look at more of what my Big Brother Jesus had to say:

24b The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a Man(Jesus) which sowed good seed in His field: 25 But while men slept (lazy Christians), His enemy(satan) came and sowed tares(weeds) among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the servants of the Householder(Jesus) came and said unto Him, 'Sir, didst not Thou sow good seed in Thy field? from whence then hath it tares?'

28 He said unto them, 'An enemy hath done this'. The servants said unto Him, 'Wilt Thou then that we go and gather them up?' 29 But He said, 'Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into My barn.'

OK, the owner of the field as being Jesus, the seeds are the word of God, the Gospel plan of salvation. The good wheat are those who are truly Born Again washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians. He who sows the tares is satan and the tares are those who hear the Good News and fall away, the ones who claimed to be saved but for one reason or another choose the things of this world and the prince of this world instead of staying with the Lord God of Creation, my Big Brother Jesus.

The servants of the Lord are the servants of the Lord, the time of harvest is literally the time of death, the reapers are the angels of God. Notice what happens to the tares.

Do you know what I believe Jesus meant by: "'Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into My barn.'"? I am convinced that Jesus wants the tares left amongst us so that we can still evangelize them.

So, there you have it, that is how I define a Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian.

How do you know if someone is truly a Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian? Fruits and language, dress and behavior, actions and deeds.

Lord Jesus, I come to You as a little brother, a little not too smart brother, giving You thanks for the wheat and asking if there isn't something we can do about the tares before it's too late. Help us to wake them up Lord. Help us to remind them of who is God and who is just one more creation, who they should serve and who they do serve. In Your name Big Brother Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Special long term daily Prayer Request

God has blessed me with four mentor pastors, one of which is Rev. Don Demars. Don has a wonderful wife, Theresa, and ten of the greatest Christ loving kids in the world. Don's three oldest Dusty, Allie and Casey off to the mission field. Casey is in Romania, Dusty is on his way to India and Allie will be off to Panama this coming Thursday.

They are dong exactly what Jesus instructs all Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians to do, they are complying with:
Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

...
All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Please keep the three of them in your prayers and remember to pray for Don and Theresa too, imagine having three of your babies out in the world.

Thanks and the Lord bless you all ten fold,
Bob

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
