Fearing God and modestly

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

Girls let me start out by letting you in on a real secret. I say a secret because so many of you seem ignorant of this one undisputable fact. Men are creations that are stimulated by what they see. Show a man a big juicy steak with mashed potatoes and green beans and watch him drool. It is the same with girls dressed in sexy, revealing, immodest clothing.

So now, before I continue, I am going to assume that you really didn't know that your immodest dress causes men to think impure thoughts. But, after you read this, you should, and if you fear God, change the wardrobe you wear in public. What you wear when it is just you and your husband is "anything goes", but in public, well, if you fear God, your clothing shall be modest.

Now, first I want to define the term 'fear God' for you. Fear, when used to describe your relationship with God is basically two things. The first and most common is that you love Jesus so much that you fear doing anything that might hurt or offend Him. The second is best articulated by the Lord Himself. "fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear God who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

So when your love for God is not so strong enough to inhibit your actions from doing something that hurts or offends Him, think the fear that Jesus talks about in Matthew 10:28 whereby He can cast you into eternal damnation and eternity in the lake of fire.

Now I want to show you what your immodest dress can cause. Jesus said: Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, 'Thou shalt not commit adultery': But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. (Matthew 5:27&28 ACP/KJV)

When you dress in seductive, revealing, immodest clothing, when you walk with an exaggerated sway of your hips, when you bend over from the waist, when you sit with your legs open, when you are being immodest, you are not fearing God. You are causing men to lust in their hearts. In other words, you are guilty of causing a man to sin, to commit adultery in his heart.

How should you dress and act in public? If you would but spend one tenth the time reading your Bible as you do in magazines that teach you to be anything but modest, you would already know, but since it is obvious that you don't, I'll quote God's word to you so that you can read it once and for all. "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;" (1 Timothy 2:9 ACP/KJV)

Now a note for both men and women. God expects you girls to be virgins the day you marry. He then expects you to be faithful to your husband! If you fear God and you dress, act, and speak as if you fear God, then you will be.

As for you men, if you fear God, you will turn your head and avoid looking at women who must be selling sex, for what other reason would they have for advertising their sexual expertise and availability by their dress, walk and behaviour, if not to sell sexual favors.

Fathers, why are you letting your daughter dress like a street walker? Husbands why are you letting your wife go out in public dressed like a street walker? And as for you men who seduce young girls and married women, read what comes next very carefully, very carefully indeed.

God has made women both subservient to men and the weaker of the two sexes. You as the stronger, less susceptible have a responsibility to God, and that responsibility is outlined in what Jesus warns men about when it comes to seducing any but your own wife. "But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in Me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea." (Matthew 18:6 ACP/KJV)

I'm going to use some girls that are very close to me as examples. Kellie, my four year old granddaughter, was given to the Lord before she was even born Within weeks of her birth, she was dedicated to the Lord by the two eldest males in our family. She belongs to Christ! Anyone who leads her astray is guilty of offending her as a little one of Christ'.

Steve, Jim, and Don, have daughters who are Christ fearing, modest dressing, beautiful virgins. I have spent time with all three families, and I have seen the way some men look at these girls, even though they are, by all definitions of the word, dressed and behaving modestly. Woe unto you who have evil thoughts and try evil things with any of these girls, for the Lord God of Creation has very clearly said, "it were better for you had a millstone been hanged about your neck, and that you were drowned in the depth of the sea."

So men, before you even think evil thoughts about a young child of God, girl or boy, you had best seriously take what Jesus said next. And forget the liberal lies about Jesus not meaning exactly what He said here, for Jesus knew exactly what He was saying and meant exactly what He said, exactly the way He said it.

"Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!

Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.

Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 18:7-10 ACP/KJV)

in closing let me say: Girls, love Jesus enough not to dress, talk, walk and behave in a manner that offends Him. Men, it is better for you to be blind than to do anything to cause a Christian virgin, boy or girl, to sin.

Fear God more than you fear the blue lights flashing in your rear view mirror when you are going a bit too fast or gong through a red light. That ticket is nothing compared to eternal damnation.

Thank You Jesus for the operating manual You gave us for our lives, called the Holy Word of God, the King James Version of the Bible. Amen.

A note from Cecily: On the way to preschool this morning, we were looking at the mountains and remembering a picnic we had up there in the Fall. Kellie asked if we could have another picnic in the mountains, and if Grandpa in the hospital could join us. We decided we would pray about it every day, so she prayed first and then asked me to. We asked Jesus to make it possible for Allen (Grandpa) to have a picnic with us in the mountains of New Mexico.

Sha'al shalowm Yruwshalaim.

Never ever forget this: There aint no purgatory!

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."

Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush, Sean and Michael have, they, Rush, Sean and Michael and their audiences need the Lord.

Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.

The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.

It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
