Today's Christian thought: Wednesday January 21st, 2004
I'm not going to go onto Matthew Nine today, instead I would like you to think about the State of the Union speech(s) last night. All of us had the chance to hear the President, those of us living in Maine had the opportunity to listen to Governor John Elias Baldacci. I choose to listen to neither. But, for two very different reasons.
I choose not to listen to President Bush for two reasons. First because I have already decided that I would vote for his re-election. While I voted for Pat Buchanan in 2000, I will this year vote for President Bush for exactly the same reason that I voted for Pat back in 2000. Back in 2000, Pat was the only pro-life candidate. Only Pat said he would stand by and behind the baby in the womb. President Bush has signed into law the ban on partial birth infanticide, and for that reason I will proudly cast my vote for him come this November.
The second reason I didn't listen to the Presidents State of the Union speech was because I didn't want him saying things that would do nothing more than upset my stomach. It has been rumored around that he was going to continue his appeasing of the leftist in the Republican party and his buddy Ted Kennedy in the Democratic party. While I appreciate the Presidents tax cuts, will vote for him because of his signature on the ban to end the slaughter of babies by partial birth infanticide, and feel sorry for the way his detractors are lying about his military record. Did you know that the President was an Air Force combat pilot with an honorable discharge? His spending and social programs are driving me nuts. So, I just didn't listen to him and after visiting the internet news sites this morning, I would have to say that decision was correct.
And of course there is this: Please hit the back key to return after visiting the link.
Now for Maine's Governor John Elias Baldacci's state of the state speech, and why I choose not to subject myself to his rants. Here the reason is simple and straightforward. Baldacci is a liar. He, like William Jefferson Blyth Clinton, seems incapable of telling the truth. Governor Baldacci, like so many of Maine's politicians, has built his entire political career telling one lie after another. Why, might I ask you, would I sit around for a hour or so and listen to one man tell lie after lie?
You know, something very sad happened in Iowa. The abortionist Howard Dean got a bigger share of the vote than Gephardt. What is ironic about that is Gephardt voted for the ban on partial birth abortion every time it came up, Dean did his OBGYN training at a planned parenthood abortion mill. Of those running, only Gephardt showed any sign of understanding that abortion is murder. That in itself says volumes about the democrats and their morals in Iowa. A sad day for Iowa , a very, very sad day indeed.
We as Christians must be part of the system, does not the Lord instruct us to "Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's." If you vote in a Godly Christian manner, you are both rendering unto government and God. But to do that you must choose whom you will support carefully.
Are we not further instructed to: ¶ Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. (1 Peter 2:13-16 ACP/KJV)
As you read above, do you not understand that while we are not of the world, we are in the world and what better method to evangelize is there than to have solid Born Again Christians in office? And how will that happen if you stay home and ignore politics and refuse to vote. When you withhold your vote from a Pro-Lifer, Christian or not, you are casting a vote for abortion. When you stay out of the public square, refusing to get involved, who is gong to vote for the Christian candidate, better still where is the Christian candidate going to come from?
If I ran for President of the United States as a Christian Patriot candidate, how many of you would cross party lines to vote for me? Or would you say, "He can't win anyhow, why waste my vote?" Or would it be "If I vote for Bob, the democrat might get in." But as President, do you think I would do anything that would ignore or oppose God, Christ Jesus?
Where is your loyalty? Party? Christ? Where?
God help us understand that the time is short, that we must do everything we can to reap the fields, that we must get off our duffs, put aside our fears and carry our crosses. Lord let revival ring, let fear of government, the IRS, the FBI and the other intimidators of satan's army be ignored by our pulpits, let freedom which is only possible through You ring from our churches and throughout our streets. Give pastors courage, the courage to inform their sheep about the morals of the candidates. Amen.
Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush and Michael have, they, Rush, Michael and their audiences need the Lord.
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
