Thank God for Steve,
Jesus has told us in John 3:3 that unless a person is a Born Again Washed in His Blood Christian, he or she will go to hell. And their ain't no purgatory! I don't know how much more clear the Lord could have been than in John 3:3, but even today there are many that will twist His words to make it as if we can treat Him like the pillsbury dough boy.
Guys, read what Jesus had to say in answer to the question "Lord, are there few that be Saved?"
And Jesus went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem. Then said one unto Him, "Lord, are there few that be saved?" And He said unto them; Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open unto us;' and He shall answer and say unto you, 'I know you not whence ye are:'
Then shall ye begin to say, 'We have eaten and drunk in Thy presence, and Thou hast taught in our streets.' But He shall say, 'I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from Me, all ye workers of iniquity.' There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out!
And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last. (Luke 13:22-30 ACP/KJV)
Let's go back and look and see what Jesus was saying and referencing or reminding people of. Remember, Jesus was talking to Jews who were knowledgeable of the Old Testament stories of creation, the flood, the miracles of the exodus, the laws, the prophets, etc.
What we have is Jesus reminding people of the suddenness of the flood. Read back for a moment to that day 1656 years after Adam and Eve were kicked out of the Garden of Eden.
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. This doesn't mean it took forty days of rain to flood the earth and kill every air breathing thing. No, it means that it was forty days before the water level started to decline. When you look at what happened, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
This was not just a rain storm. The earth probably was getting 20 feet an hour of water. Th This was the water under the earth shooting up and flooding the earth in addition to the water coming down from above the earth. Within minutes people started drowning. Within hours there was probably a 90 plus percent death rate. He was reminding them of how people outside the ark were knocking on the sides, begging to be allowed in. But they were not given entrance, because it was only a very few, Noah, his wife, his three sons and their wives that had been allowed in.
Jesus is answering the question of "Lord, are there few that be saved?" by reminding them of the flood and the ark, the severity, how final the decision was and the speed with which it happened.
Jesus went on to take that parallel and show how it would effect future generations, even to the point of literally saying to the religious people, just because you heard Me preach in the streets, just because I fed you and you had food with me, don't think that will get you into Heaven. It won't. I know your hearts, and I know if you are truly a Born Again Christian or not. You will not lie to Me, you will not change My righteous mind.
Jesus goes on and tells the Jews present, look, there will come a time when you will be the one : "And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.' But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.'"
Jesus goes on to tell them that there will be more than Jews in His flock, and not only will there be more than Jews in His flock, there will be non Jews who will be in much higher places in heaven than Jews.
Take another look at how Jesus says it: "Then shall ye begin to say, 'We have eaten and drunk in Thy presence, and Thou hast taught in our streets.' But He shall say, 'I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from Me, all ye workers of iniquity.' There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out!
And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last."
Pay attention to how horrible a picture the Lord is painting here for the unsaved: "There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out!"
Liberals, those who know better than God what He meant to say in His book the Holy Bible, those who know what He really meant to keep in His book and what He really meant to throw out of His book the Holy Bible, will try to convince you that hell really isn't all that bad. It is just a nice place to be that simply does not have God. A place that isn't all that bad, but God doesn't visit it. But look at how Jesus describes it: "There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out!"
Not only is it a horrible place, it is a place were those suffering in hell can and do see us in heaven.
We in the USA are in serious trouble. We as Christians need to focus on the Word and His word. We need to never lose sight of the fact that we are just visiting here, that at this point in time, the ruler of this planet is satan. That won't be for long, but it is for now. Our home is with the Lord God of Creation, Christ Jesus in His heaven. Earth will eventually be part of our domain, but for now, it is the realm of satan. Focus on Christ, not baby Christians like George Bush, certainly not the pope, not tradition, nor working your way into heaven.
Focus on the absolute truths in the Bible. Focus on what God says He likes and what He says he dislikes. Do not think homosexuality, abortion, lesbianism, cannibalism or any of the other politically correct sexual deviances are ok in God's eyes. They are not.
Never ever forget that God said exactly what HE wanted to say in His book the Holy Bible. He said exactly what He wanted to say, said it exactly how He meant to say it and meant exactly what He said.
If you or I don't understand a part of His Book, it doesn't mean God didn't know what He was talking about, it means we are not as smart as God.
I'll close with these two verses of Scripture: Matthew 10:33 and Matthew 6:24. Read them and heed them for if you ignore God's word and God's Word, you will not find your name written in the Lamb's Book Of Life and there ain't no purgatory. "He that loveth father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after Me, is not worthy of Me." Christ Jesus 32 or so AD.
And if you find, at the time of the judgement, that your name does not appear, picture this, for this will come to pass, and you will have noone to blame but yourself. You are outside of heaven looking in. You you are being tormented day and night for all eternity. You are crying out with the billions upon billions of other souls whose pain and suffering is so intense that you can not stand it, but know it will never end. You will never have any peace, you will never have any relaxation or reprieve from that horrible burning pain. You will never again be in light. All will be darkness and pain and suffering, and it will never end. Look across that gulf. There you will see Paradise. Keep looking there, never stop. For one day, one day maybe a million, maybe two million, maybe ten billion years from now, I will be standing at a window of the palace of Paradise. I will look out, but I will not see you. I will not see the suffering you have condemned yourself to.
My job is to give you Scripture, and my job is to preach to you. It is not my job to ensure that you get to heaven. That is your job, for just as I and every other Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian, made a conscience decision to give our lives and our freedom to Jesus, so must you, or suffer the eternal consequences.
Never ever forget this: There aint no purgatory! Your salvation, your eternal home, is between you and the Lord, and you and only you can convince Jesus that you are worthy to spend eternity with Him, the Father, the Holy Ghost and me.
Take the narrow bumpy road folks, avoid that boulevard.
Sha'al shalowm Yruwshalaim.
Never ever forget this: There aint no purgatory!

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
