Friday, February 12th, 2010 Stop your bitching, moaning, and groaning! James 4:1-10 Keyword: content
I am getting so sick and tired of hearing so-called Christians moaning, groaning, bitching, complaining, and in general acting as if this life on earth were all there is.
Before you complain about your house, your food, your car, your job, your anything, I want you to shut up and do a little thinking.
Dr. Allen Gilpatrick: Allen is in a prison in Kentucky, he was framed so that the locals could keep on discriminating against blacks and so that a state police officer could buy his beautiful brick home complete with a in ground swimming pool for 1/4th it’s value. They killed his wife, famed Allen, bought off his lawyer and the judge and now Allen is serving a life sentence for a murder he did not commit. Allen is a juvenile diabetic that is starting to have to have amputations because they, the prison officials, refuse to serve or even offer meals that help instead of hindering diabetics.
So, before you start your bellyaching, think of Dr. Allen Gilpatrick.
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. Philipians 4:11
Dr. Kent Hovind: Kent is in federal prison, he is a political prisoner. That’s right, the federal government didn’t like Kent telling the truth about evolution and the corruption within our Department of Education, so they sicced the IRS on him and now he is serving ten years. Then to keep Kent out of the appellate process they threatened to put his wife in jail for two years on another trumped up charge.
So, before you start your moaning and groaning, think of Dr. Kent Hovind.
And having food and raiment let us be therewith be content. 1Timothy 6:8
So, as you complain and feel sorry for yourself and your plight, read on and feel guilty.
UNITED STATES: Pastor Arrested for Talking About Jesus in a Mall
The California Court of Appeals is considering the constitutionality of a Sacramento-area shopping mall’s attempt to prevent adult patrons from talking to each other about hot-button topics such as religion and politics. The case arose after a youth pastor, Matthew Snatchko, was arrested at the Roseville Galleria Mall in 2007 for striking up a casual conversation with two other shoppers about faith. Although Snatchko had first obtained the shoppers’ permission to broach the subject, a nearby store employee disapproved and called mall security guards, who roughed up, handcuffed and arrested Pastor Snatchko. Criminal charges were later dropped, but attorneys with the Pacific Justice Institute filed suit to challenge the mall’s tight restrictions on speech. (Another mall rule bans the wearing of any clothing with religious or political messages.)
UNITED STATES: Use of Fish Symbol in Ad, Illegal?
A complaint filed with the Virginia Fair Housing Board alleged that a real estate agent and firm engaged in discriminatory housing practices because the firm’s logo, which appears in numerous advertisements and on the firm’s website, includes the Christian fish symbol and “John 3:16” next to the Christian fish symbol. The “About Us” page of the website explains that the real estate agent is an ordained Christian minister and describes the firm as “a local Christian business”. Although the firm’s website and print advertisements include disclaimers stating that the firm and its agents do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion or other prohibited bases, the complaint alleged that the Christian content on the website indicated an illegal preference based on religion in violation of the Virginia Fair Housing Law.
After months of deliberation, the real estate firm has entered into an agreement that upholds their right to continue to include Christian content on their website.
MYANMAR (BURMA): Increase in Anti-Christian Violence Feared
The 2009 annual report of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom states that Burma’s military junta has “one of the world’s worst human rights records”. According to the report, “Burma’s Christian populations faces forced promotion of Buddhism and other hardships in ethnic minority areas where low-intensity conflict has been waged for decades. In addition, a new law passed in early 2009 essentially bans independent ‘house church’ religious venues, many of which operate because permission to build church buildings is regularly denied.” In the states of Karen and Chin, killing and persecution of Christians is expected to increase as national elections of the junta approach.
NIGERIA: More Than 100 Christians Killed in Attacks in Jos
More than 100 Christians have been killed in Jos, Nigeria, since January 17 when violent riots broke out between the Christian and Muslim communities, according to Compass Direct News. Police said the ongoing violence was initially triggered by an attack on worshipers at the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Nasarawa Gwong in the Jos North Local Government Area. Church leaders said Muslim youths also attacked buildings belonging to the Christ Apostolic Church, Assemblies of God Church, three branches of the Church of Christ in Nigeria and the Evangelical Church of West Africa.
BHUTAN: Despite Democracy, Christians Remain Underground
Christians, whose only official identity falls in the “others” category in the census, are estimated to range in number between 3,000 and 6,000. And they live out their Christian lives underground – no church buildings, Christian cemeteries, or Christian bookstores are yet allowed. Said one pastor requesting anonymity, “There are many secret Christians. They meet in secret locations for prayer.” The pastor said that although there are no violent attacks currently, Christians face discrimination by the government and society and can be jailed if found proselytizing Buddhists or Hindus.
EGYPT: Attacks on Christians Continue
On January 8, Muslim mobs shouting “allah aka satan is great” and “no god except allah” looted and torched homes, shops and cars owned by Christians in the southern Egyptian towns of Nag Hammadi and Bahjora, according to Assyrian International News and Voice of America. A Coptic Christian, Mary Om Boktor Kyrollos, died from smoke inhalation after her home was set ablaze.
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for Christ hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Hebrews 13:5
So stop your bitching, moaning, groaning, and feeling sorry for yourself. I am so sick and tired of hearing you, as is every other pastor. You complain about not having a new car, you complain about not having a job equivalent to your perceived education, you complain about your house being to small or the neighborhood it is in. You bitch and moan about not having this, not having that, not being able to do this, not being able to do that. Oh for heavens sake, sit down and shut up!
Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church. 3John 1:10
While you were bitching others were picking up the slack, others were doing what you should have been doing for the body of Christ.
Through the pen of His half brother James, Jesus tells us something you bellyachers need to read.
From whence come wars and fightings among you? Come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. That is not adultery with someone other than your spouse, it is adultery against God for disobeying His word and acting like one of the world.
Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? But He giveth more grace. Wherefore He saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up. James 4:1-10
So, grow up, stop your bitching and start counting the blessings Christ has given you.
