Monday, February 15, 2010 Why would anyone want to dedicate their life to the loser(s)? A look at Colossians 2:13-15
When you take a look at Colossians 2, you see that Jesus, on the cross, totally destroyed all the hopes and aspirations of the devil, his minions, his ilk, and those who follow the devil either by choice or by default. For the default is belonging to the devil. To belong to Christ, one must choose Christ.
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath He quickened together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. (Colossians 2:13-15 ACP/KJV)
Let’s look back:
Mt 4:24 And His fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto Him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and He healed them.
Mt 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto Him many that were possessed with devils: and He cast out the spirits with His word, and healed all that were sick:
Mt 8:28-32 And when He was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. And, behold, they cried out, saying, “What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?” And there was a good way off from them a herd of many swine feeding. So the devils begged Him, saying, “If Thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.” And Jesus said unto them, Go! And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.
Mt 9:32-33 As they went out, behold, they brought to Jesus a dumb man possessed with a devil. And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marveled, saying, “It was never so seen in Israel.”
Mt 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
Mt 12:22-28 Then was brought unto Jesus one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and He healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. And all the people were amazed, and said, “Is not this the son of David?” But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, “This Fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.” And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
And the above is only using the word “devils” and only the recorded accounts of Jesus beating them in Matthew. In Genesis 3, we see God speaking to the devil;
And the LORD God said unto the serpent(the devil, the fallen archangel Lucifer), Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; It shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel. (Genesis 3:14&15 ACP/KJV)
Satan probably did not understand the meaning of the words “It (The one who has the full Trinity with Him, the full Godhead within Him, Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us.) shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel.” until Jesus’ absolute conquest over death, the Sunday morning when He arose from the dead. Then satan understood. All he, satan, had done with the beating, the trial, the crucifixion and the burial was to bruise the Lord’s heel. That is when satan came to realize that his days were numbered. And still, otherwise honest, law-abiding reasonablely intelligent people choose to follow this loser instead of Christ.
The devils know who Jesus is, satan knows who Jesus is, the devils tremble and shake at His name and can do nothing but to obey Him at His appearances, yet the vast majority of the people on earth follow, not Jesus, the conqueror, but satan the loser.
How sad, how very, very sad. But praise God, not all are blind, not all are following the loser. Some, not a majority that’s for certain, have chosen to give their lives to the Lord God of Creation and follow Him. What about you? Are you following the loser or are you following the Creator of the world, the One true God who so loves you that He came to earth as the Ultimate, Perfect, Sinless Blood Sacrifice for your sins?
There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto Him, “Rabbi, we know that Thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.” Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Nicodemus saith unto Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?” Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Nicodemus answered and said unto Him, “How can these things be?” Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but He that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him(Jesus) should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
And this is the condemnation, that Light(Jesus) is come into the world, and men loved darkness(satan) rather than Light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the Light, neither cometh to the Light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the Light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. (John 3:1-21 ACP/KJV)
And still after all these years, after all the signs the Lord has shown, after all the horrible things satan has done, the vast majority of people choose to serve and belong to the devil.
Lord, perhaps You have been silent for too long. Perhaps, You overestimated us when You left it for us to preach the gospel to every creature, to bring the Gospel to every nation and every tongue. Enlarge this ministry Lord, use us, help us to be used by You. Amen.
