Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 It only appears twice in Scripture but daily in my heart Psalm 150:1 Keyword: Praise God

A few weeks back, I asked you all to pray for me, for I had no working computer. Since then I have gotten my old machine up and running and have given it to a fine Christian lady. I could do that because God has supplied me with a machine so new that it uses DDR2 RAM. The new machine was ‘thrown away’ because it had some problems, but as of 8AM today, I have gotten rid of all the glitches, have everything working, the programs I need loaded, and have a machine that is so fast that I cannot get over it. Praise GOD!!!!!

Speaking of praising God, did you know that the term “Praise God” is only used twice in the entire Bible. Yup, once in the Old Testament and once in the New Testament.

I have a line of note cards that I make, they are part of the Creation series, and are based, in part, on the one time use of the term “Praise God” in the old Testament.

Psalm 150:1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in His sanctuary: praise Him in the firmament of His power.

The next, and only other time, we see the term “Praise God” is in Luke 19:37 And when He was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen.

Only twice, and only one of those two times is a command the other is descriptive of what folks were doing. I was amazed when I found that out, I had figured that Praise God was used a few hundred times. But it isn’t, only twice, now in Psalms, and that is the only place we find it, the term Praise Him is used 18 times.

I think what amazes me so much about the little number of times Praise God and Praise Him are used, is that we, as Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians, are, or at least should be, using it a hundred times a day in our own lives. Not just when we get a newer computer, but each time anything happens in our lives. When my seedlings come up, I praise God when I wake up, I praise God for another day, when I see my wife I praise God for her, when my old truck starts I praise God.

I even praise God when times are bad, for I know they could be worse. When I thought Cecily was dying back last October 31st, I, while praying for God to heal her, but I was prepared to give her back to the Lord, for I was praising Him, in between my tears, for letting me have her for so long.

Back on February 12th, I wrote a thought urging people to stop complaining and start being content. Have you ever sat down and made a list of the blessings God has given you?

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Hebrews 13:5

For me, knowing that Jesus will never leave me nor forsake me is enough, but adding to that is the promise that I am but a visitor here on this earth and that my Father and my home await me upon my death or rapture whichever comes first. Knowing that the very hairs on my head are numbered, that my every breath is in the hands of the Lord, that He decided the exact moment of my conception and has, in His hands, the exact moment I will come home to be greeted by Him with the words Come, ye blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

So, as it snows today, I will praise God, as the fire burns and house is warmed, I will praise God. If the murderers come, I will praise God. No matter what happens I will never cease
