The eye of a needle..

Today we are going to delve into Matthew chapter nineteen. As we do, I will ask a question or two. These questions are not designed to embarrass you, only get you to think. Before we start, let me publicly thank God for not allowing me, my wife and others to be killed or maimed while riding in my truck. Yesterday I brought my truck down to have it serviced by Ovide, and what he found broken could have very easily brought the truck to a complete and immediate stop at any time and at any speed. There is a nut that holds a shaft that runs through the transmission in place..This nut is behind and inside the yoke where the transmission connects to the drive shaft. That nut had broken off along with a half inch or so of the shaft that runs through the transmission. Had that nut gotten jammed into the openings of the thing that holds the drive shaft and transmission together while driving, the truck would have come to an immediate stop. It has been like that since last spring. We towed the trailer almost 7,000 miles to New Mexico and back with it broken. Thank You Lord, thank You.

Now, on to Matthew Chapter Nineteen

1 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, He departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan; 2 And great multitudes followed Him; and He healed them there.

3 The Pharisees also came unto Him, tempting Him, and saying unto Him, "Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?" 4 And He answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that He which made them at the beginning made them male and female? 5 And said, FOR THIS CAUSE SHALL A MAN LEAVE FATHER AND MOTHER, AND SHALL CLEAVE TO HIS WIFE: AND THEY TWAIN SHALL BE ONE FLESH. (Genesis 1:24) 6 WHEREFORE THEY ARE NO MORE TWAIN, BUT ONE FLESH (Genesis 2:24). What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. Notice how even back 1,976 years ago the agents of satan were trying to break up marriage. But the word of God has remained constant for over 6400 years now, one man one wife till death do you part. As back then, so today satan and his minions are still trying to twist and redefine marriage.

7 They say unto him, "Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?" 8 He saith unto them, Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. 9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery. Once again we see the people of satan arguing with the Lord, trying to twist marriage to meet their own terms. Just as today some are unwilling to accept the fact that those who are divorced can be forgiven by God, by simply confessing their sin, by being Born Again. Divorce is not the unpardonable sin. But nor is it of God, divorce is of satan.

10 His disciples say unto Him, "If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry." 11 But He said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. 12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it. As you go over verses 10-12, can you help but wonder how prevalent divorce must have been in that day? Even the Lord's chosen Apostles seem to have thought that if you are to be tied to one woman through out all of life, that it would be better to never marry.

13 Then were there brought unto Him little children, that He should put His hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto Me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. 15 And He laid His hands on them, and departed thence. Little children do not try to second guess or read between the lines, they accept what is told them. When you said to your two year old "daddy loves you" that two year old cuddles up and hugs you and says "I love you too daddy" but as we mature we second guess or read between the lines or even try to use words to gain advantage. Such as when you tell your teen "daddy loves you" they might say "Ya right, if you loved me you would let me stay out or let me have my own car...." when you go to the Lord, be like a little child, when you read and study God's word, be like a little child. Take what God said literally don't try to read between the lines or second guess what He has caused to be written.

16 And, behold, one came and said unto Him, "Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?" 17 And He said unto him, Why callest thou Me good? there is none good but One, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. 18 He saith unto Him, "Which?" Jesus said, thou shalt do no murder, thou shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not bear false witness, 19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Do not murder or commit adultery, don't steal or lie about another, honor your parents and love your neighbor as you love yourself. On the face, those things seem easy enough to do, but when we look at them we see how very difficult they really are. Let's just look at murder and adultery. Murder includes abortion and euthanasia. Adultery is, according to the Lord, even looking at another woman with lust in your heart (see Mt 5:27&28). But evidently the young man was able to look the Lord in the eye and tell Him that he had done all those things, since he was a child. What about you?

20 The young man saith unto Him, "All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?" 21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow Me. 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. So now we get to the bottom line, are you following Jesus and doing what you know you should for Him and His? Or are you accumulating wealth here on earth? If your answer is accumulating wealth here on earth, read carefully the next two verses.

23 Then said Jesus unto His disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. You will hear many a liberal preacher tell you that Jesus didn't mean a literal camel and needle. My suggestion to you is to just take what the Lord said literally, be like a little child, accept what Jesus said as being what He meant to say.

25 When His disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, "Who then can be saved?" 26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. It would seem that back then, like today, many a preacher put more emphasis on paying tithes than the Word of God. The Lord's disciples evidentally were under the impression that the more you had the more you gave and the more you gave the better standing you would have with God. On what do you and your church put the emphasis?

27 Then answered Peter and said unto Him, "Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed Thee; what shall we have therefore?" Jesus had said to Peter, Andrew, James and John, "follow me" and they walked away from their businesses, their families and their belongings and followed Jesus. They didn't know where their next meal was going to come from or where they were going to sleep, or even if they would live to see the next day, but they forsook all and followed Jesus. Now Peter is asking Jesus what kind of reward he and the others could expect since they had given up everything for the Lord. Look at what Jesus tells them.

28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that

ye which have followed Me,

in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of His glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first. (Matthew 19:1-30 ACP/KJV)

Are you one who has given his earthly life to Christ and put Him and doing His work first? As I close today's thought, I would like you to think about this verse spoken by the Lord: "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." (Matthew 6:24)

Peter, James, John and Andrew did not go back and discuss their decisions with their wives and families, they just picked up and followed the Lord. Are you letting family concerns be a stumbling block in your path? Are you so afraid that your wife and family may disapprove, that you put God's work last and man's comforts first?

Two last verses and two last questions and I'll let you get on with your life. "He that loveth father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after Me, is not worthy of Me. " (Matthew 10:37&38) Are you worthy of Him? Have you picked up your cross?

The Lord be with you my brothers and sisters. And once again let me give thanks to God for His unerring protection. It is nice to know that satan is still trying to hurt me and mine, but it is even nicer to know that God has chosen to protect me and mine from satan's attempts. Amen.

Pray for the daughters of Will, for Will, and his mom. Pray that the Lord will put the girls back under the control of Steve.

Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush and Michael have, they, Rush, Michael and their audiences need the Lord.

Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.

The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.

It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
