Are you man enough?
If you husbands will love your wife as Christ loves the Church, you won't need to raise your voice or hit her, for she will love you so much that she will revere you. God Himself has ordained it: Unto the woman He said, ... your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over thee. (Genesis 3:16b ACP/KJV)

Thank God for Steve,

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.

Day 2 of 40,

The family

Proverbs 6:16-19 and 27-35
Tuesday, February 20, 2007

While all of Proverbs chapter six deals with the family, as does all of Proverbs, today we are going to look at two sections. The first deals with seven things that everyone in the family should strive daily to avoid. And the second deals with the horrors of adultery on the part of the man of the family. I have written much on adultery. To read more just go to and put "adultery" without the quotes , in the search box, select Christianpatriot.com and hit search.

These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto Him:

A proud look, Do you have the look of superiority about you?

A lying tongue, Do you treat the truth as politicians treat the truth?

Hands that shed innocent blood, Would you ever even consider having or recommending an abortion? How about euthanasia?

A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, Oh how guilty I can be of this. Do you dream of vengeance? Do any of your thoughts or dreams focus on something that would violate any of the Ten Commandments?

Feet that be swift in running to mischief, Teens, headed for that beer party? Dad, ogling that cheerleader? Mom, what about you? Where are your feet running?

A false witness that speaketh lies, How quick are you to lie, accept a lie or pass on a lie?

And he that soweth discord among brethren. All too often I hear and see Christians passing on mis-truths about another Christian, one based not upon research, but one based upon a new report by the lying, cheating, Christ and Christian hating secular news. Are you part of that group? Do you pass on negative rumors about fellow Christians? Have you become a part of the group that is passing on lies about Dr. Kent Hovind and his fight with the IRS? (Proverbs 6:16-19)

The seven above are directed at the whole family. A family can not fulfil its role for Christ if it is serving satan by doing any of the above. Now let us turn our attention to one of the most insidious of satan's marriage and family wrecking tools, adultery.

Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can he go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.

Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.

But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away. For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts. (Proverbs 6:27-35)

Proverbs 6:27-35 tells us that a there are consequences for actions. Can you hold your hand in a flame without getting burned? When you do something wrong, there is a consequence for it when you get caught, and according to Hebrews 9:27, you will eventually answer for all you have ever done wrong.

It goes on telling us that a thief who steals to feed himself and his family, while men won't hate him for it, he must still pay sevenfold what he took, even to the point of losing everything he has. But when it comes to adultery, it is not only not truly and completely forgiven by the other husband, regardless of what he might say, it is also sin against God and a crime against yourself.

Jesus thought adultery important enough to put it in this list of 'thou shall nots'. Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness.

Let us conclude by rereading verse 32 of chapter 6, But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. A husband and a wife are one flesh, to violate the covenant of marriage is like unto purposely slamming your own hand with a hammer till it is nothing but a bloody mess of mush.

Oh Lord God of Creation, Ye who created both man and woman and the covenant of marriage, help us to search Your Scriptures to find the solutions for the problems within our families, help us to avoid the pitfalls of the seven things thou abhor. Help us to think before we act or speak, help us to lead our wife and our children to You and Your ways, and away from the ways of this adulterous sinful society we live in. Amen.

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
