Like most of you, I too know men and women, boys and girls who have been true Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians since they were 6,7,8,9 or 10 years old. And like some of you, I know men and women who have come to Christ and become true Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians in their later years, some even on the verge of death.
For some who have worked for the Lord day in and day out for their entire lives, the following verses, at times, seem a tad unfair. But for those with a lifetime of sin behind them who came to be Saved in their later years, theses same words are a true God send. For one of the things that the Lord Jesus, the Christ, God, is telling us, is that even those who come while laying in their own blood. Those with one foot in the grave and their life blood slowly yet insistently spilling onto and being absorbed by the ground, are equal in His eyes.
My dear and beloved pastor, Rev. Warren Feustal at 78 years old prays daily for the salvation of one 84 years old heathen. Warren knows that one day he will stand before the Lord, he will be wearing a white robe of fine linen and have a goodly number of crowns to lay at the feet of the Lord. His prayer is that the 84 year old will one day accept the truth of God's Word and be standing there beside him. See Warren, like the Lord, knows that what is important is Salvation, not the number of crowns, but the being there to cast them before the Lord.
Now, let us read what the Lord God creator of the universe has to say about how those are treated who come to Him as youngsters vs those who come to Him on their death bed. Matthew Chapter Twenty
1 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. 2 And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4 and said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. 5 Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? 7 They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive.
8 So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the laborers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. 9 And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny. 10 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny. 11 And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house, 12 Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. 13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? 14 Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. 15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? 16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.
There are those who have served the Lord for 70, 80, and even 90 years. And there are those who came to understand and accept the truth on their death beds, moments before they left this life. When you think of the very few years we have here on earth and try to compare it to eternity, you can start to understand that the service of those who worked for 70, 80, and even 90 years is still but the blink of an eye in the Lord's time and in comparison to eternity. What is important is that even those who have spent a life time hanging around and doing nothing but sitting on the fence, those like the church of Laodicea in Revelation three, come to be Saved. Pray for the mailman in Harrison, Maine who came to know the truth 18 months ago, but whose seed is teetering between good ground and rocky ground, who is teetering between the church fo Laodicea and the Church of Philadelphia, ask the Lord to shake Paul up.
17 And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, 18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn Him to death, 19 and shall deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify Him: and the third day He shall rise again.
20 Then came to Him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshiping Him, and desiring a certain thing of Him. 21 And He said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto Him, "Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on Thy right hand, and the other on the left, in Thy kingdom." 22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, "We are able". 23 And He saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on My right hand, and on My left, is not Mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of My Father.
I love verses 17-23, in them we see the Lord as both Human and God. We see the Lord foretelling what will happen to Him in a very short time in 17&18 and the Lord subjecting Himself to the authority of the Father in verses 20-23. She confesses that Jesus is God by saying "Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on Thy right hand, and the other on the left, in Thy kingdom." Jesus replies by saying "..., but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of My Father." Pray for my little sister Julia who job has her with an old, nasty heathen who constantly tries the Godly aspects of Julia's life, trying to make her more secular in her thinking towards this old biddy, and of course pray for the old biddy.
24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren. 25 But Jesus called them unto Him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. 26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; 27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: 28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many.
The personal creed, desire and goal of every preacher should be as God has said in verses 25-28. Can you imagine Jesus living in the Vatican? Do you, even for a moment think that Jesus would be negotiating a 401K for His retirement when being interviewed for a Pastors position? Can you even in your wildest dreams see the Lord putting the money for a new truck over the needs of the poor, those in jail, widows and orphans?
29 And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed Him. 30 And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, "Have mercy on us, O Lord, Thou Son of David." 31 And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, "Have mercy on us, O Lord, Thou Son of David." 32 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you? 33 They say unto him, "Lord, that our eyes may be opened." 34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.
Just as the blind men know in 30AD, so should men know today, men need to cry out: "Have mercy on us, O Lord," And when He answers and ask " What will ye that I shall do unto you?" and just as then, today men should cry out the same answer: "Lord, that our eyes may be opened."
Stop trying to judge whether or not a man is worthy for salvation in your eyes, stop procrastinating, for how are men to know today that they need the Lord and need only cry out to Him, if those of us who are Saved don't tell them. Take a lesson from my old fried Rev. Warren Feustal, pray for the unsaved, preach the Gospel of Christ, hand out bibles and not tickets to movies. Take a lesson from my little sister Julia, go back each day and work with the old heathen biddy's of the world.
The Lord God, creator of all things in heaven and in earth, be with you all, amen.
Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush and Michael have, they, Rush, Michael and their audiences need the Lord.
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
