Tuesday, March 9^th, 2010 A closer look 1 John 2 Keyword Holy Ghost

I’m going to take John’s first epistle a little out of order. For to make my point, I have to start more towards the end, and end more towards the front. Here goes.

But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him. 1 John 2:27

As you read 1 John 2:27 you see the pronoun “Him” used twice. The first “Him” is the Holy Ghost and the second is Jesus. So, first John 2:27 is easily and correctly read: But the anointing which ye have received of God the Holy Ghost abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in God the Son of God the Father, Jesus.

So, as you look at First John 2:27 you see that what is being said is that you, as a Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian, have no need of commentary or exhortation, for the same God the Holy Ghost that abides in me, abides in you. And that He is just as willing to guide, instruct and lead you in your study of God and His word as He is me. That He is willing to teach you all things so that you can more fully abide in Christ.

Do you need me to tell you what 1 John 2:9-11 means?: He that saith he is in the Light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the Light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. 1 John 2:9-11

Do you need a guide to understand that what is being said is that anyone who claims to be a Christian, yet hates his fellow Christian is not a Christian, but belongs to satan and has been blinded by satan into thinking he/she or it is a Christian. When you start to read your own Bible, when you start to ignore the chapter and verse markings, and instead read it, identify the pronouns, and put it into paragraph form, all with the help and guidance of the Holy Ghost, you can see just as clearly as me or any other that writes exhortations and/or commentary.

Let’s try again, do you need me to explain: “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” 1 John 2:15-17 Do you need me or any other to explain that to you? Of course not, it is plain and simple as the nose on your face, if you will only read to understand instead of reading to get thru it.

Do not love the world and the things of the world, love God, do not lust after the things of this world which will pass away, but love God and desire to be with Him for He is eternal and does not and will not pass away, nor will His.

Look at this, in Revelation chapter twenty one we read this, as it is written in the 1611 KJV:

5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 21:5-8

Now, as most of you know, as far as I am concerned the only Bible that is a Bible is the 1611 KJV, all others I use and consider to be commentary or exhortations of one sort or another. All of that said, let us now identify the pronouns and color code the speech.

5 And He(Christ) that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he(the angel that was guiding me) said unto me, “Write: for these words are true and faithful.”

6 And He(Christ) said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son.

OK, now we have the speaker identified and speech color coded, I use red for the words of Christ, purple for the words of God the Father and God the Holy Ghost and a real sickly green for the words of satan. You can use whatever you want, just be consistent. Now let’s put it into paragraph form with verse numbers and without verse numbers.

First with verse numbers:

5 And He(Christ) that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he(the angel) said unto me, “Write: for these words are true and faithful.”

6 And He(Christ) said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Now let’s look at it without verse numbers and the pronoun identification replacing the pronoun.

And Christ Jesus, He that sat upon the throne, said to me, Behold, I make all things new. And the angel that was guiding me said unto me, “Write: for these words are true and faithful.”

And Jesus said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 21:5-8

See how simple it is. Now, why have I chosen Revelation 21:5-8 as part of a lesson on First John 2? Well notice the underlined and doubled underlined and all liars ? It is a part of a statement made by God Himself that has given many reason to not only pause, but has even caused some to doubt their salvation. and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Let us go back to first John.

Read with me verse 22: Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

No, you are not doomed to eternity in the lake of fire for telling your wife she doesn’t look fat when she wears her favorite dress and ask you if it makes her look fat. But you are going to hell if you deny that Jesus is the Christ. Did you really need me to walk you thru all of that? See you don’t need a commentator, you don’t need exhortation, what you need is to learn how to study the Bible. I would suggest taking a Bible study course at ordination.org. Not ordination.com.
