Today we are going to get into the meat of prophecy, Matthew chapter 24. While there is no way I can cover everything in Matthew 24, what we will focus on is the importance of what the Lord is telling us as to the signs of His coming and the warnings that you be ever vigilant not to let any man deceive you. How many times I have said over and over again that to each man, woman and child falls the individual responsibility of their own personal salvation. I am not responsible for your salvation, you are. No preacher is responsible for anyone else's salvation, only his own. Our job is simply to preach the Word of God and His word to you. But, there are many out there that lie, they deceive, they preach traditions, denominational garbage and politically correct deception instead of God's Word and His word. You must decipher for yourself the truth from the lies. That is why God has given you His Holy Bible.
In Matthew 24, we see the Lord telling His Apostles something that is going to happen very soon, so as to give them early proof of His truths, He tells them that the temple is going to be absolutely destroyed, that not two stones will be left one upon another. This destruction took place in 70AD. The Apostles then ask Him to tell them about the end times. The very first warning out of God's mouth is the warning about false preachers. "Take heed that no man deceive you." If you get nothing else out of Matthew 24, get that warning through your head. Beware of false preachers, test every word out of every preachers mouth against what is written in your KJV Bible. That includes what I say, for I am only a man. While I would never intentionally lead you astray, it is not my blood that saves you, I am not God, I am not Christ and I am not anything special, I am just a man, just like you. Do not put your salvation in my hands, put it in your own. Go back re read Matthew 23. Matthew 23: "woe unto you liberal Christ denying preachers" .
Matthew Chapter Twenty-four
1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and His disciples came to Him for to shew Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 3 And as He sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of Thy coming, and of the end of the world?" In 70 AD Titus came with the Roman Army and totally destroyed the temple, killing over 1 million Jews in the process and capturing and selling into slavery literary all of the rest, probably no more than 10,000 Jews were left in the Jerusalem area. All that was left of the temple was the western retaining wall, now called the wailing wall.
4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in My name, saying, 'I am Christ'; and shall deceive many. Trust no one with your salvation, trust God, it is only by His Blood and what He did on the cross that you have salvation, not me, not anyone else, just Christ, so trust no other.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. Wars, rumors of wars, famines, diseases, earthquakes all over the place. Well, these things are happening. Seems like every time we turn on the nightly news we hear of another war, another nation fighting within itself or with some other nation. Earthquakes, are almost a weekly occurrence, people are starving all over the world and we seem to be trying to establish a new and weirder disease daily. And this is just the beginning of the time before the Rapture, the time the Lord calls the time of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for My name's sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. From verse 9 through verse 14 the Lord is describing the time both immediately before the Rapture and the time of Tribulation. For even now we see Christians being killed for no reason other than the fact that they are Christ'. We see so called Christians attacking other Christians, deceivers betray and hate those who are the property of the Lord. We see false preachers approaching catastrophic numbers, look at the Episcopalians, the UCC's the Roman Catholics. While it is bad now, it will be epidemic during the tribulation period.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Praise God. For yes today we are seeing the Gospels of Jesus preached worldwide, but nothing like the way it will be preached by God's 144,000 male virgin Messianic Jews during the seven years of tribulation (see Revelation 7).
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet (Daniel 9:21-27), stand(ing) in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. Now, from verses 15-31 is in the tribulation period. If you are here for this, you are in very serious trouble. The abomination is the devil, having taken over the body of the anti-Christ, making himself God in the temple of God in Jerusalem. This happens at the beginning of the second half of tribulation. Once this happens, anyone who has heard the word of God needs to escape Jerusalem fast.
19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. 23 Then if any man shall say unto you, 'Lo, here is Christ', 'or there'; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect (Saved).
25 Behold, I have told you before. 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, 'Behold, He is in the desert'; go not forth: 'behold, He is in the secret chambers'; believe it not. 27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles (vultures) be gathered together.
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. From verse 15 till here, the Lord is giving a brief overview of what happens during the tribulation seven years.
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away. 36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but My Father only. Starting with verse 32, the Lord is telling us to be aware of the signs of the times, for He Himself has described them in such away that even the blind should be able to tell that they are now. Guys, there is nothing left in prophecy, that I know of, that needs to be done before the Lord's return. Rapture could take place at any time, and this you must understand. Once the Lord raptures His church there is no turning back, the clock is then running for seven years at which times end, the 1000 year kingdom begins.
37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39 and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. Look at how the Lord describes the times, as in the time of Noah, marrying and giving in marriage. Noah's time, a time of eat, drink, be merry and sin. Look at today, men marrying me, women marrying women, sex at the drop of a hat, we don't even call it making love anymore, it is simply having sex. We have a profanity, blaspheming, and sexual impurity celebrated on the air waves, guys, do you know that in parts of the world incest is no longer illegal, or at the very least, while not legal, not prosecuted. we have organizations here in the USA that advocate sex with animals. Organizations and groups that insist that there is nothing wrong with men having sex with boys of nine, girls of seven being assaulted by women.
43 But know this, that if the goodman(owner or master) of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of man cometh. Most of you turn off and lock your car when you leave it, because you never know when there isn't some one round wanting to steal it. Most of you lock your homes at night and when your away, because you know that there are those out there, who given half a chance, will break in and steal all your stuff. Many of you put a gun in a concealed holster when you leave your home, because you know there are bad guys out there waiting to rob, rape and kill you and yours. Be thou as careful of your salvation, be thou as cautious with your salvation, for you not only don't know when the Lord is coming, you don't know when you will die and stand before Him.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his Lord hath made ruler over His household, to give them meat in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when He cometh shall find so doing. 47 Verily I say unto you, That He(Jesus) shall make him(faithful servant) ruler over all His goods. This is not only addressed to preachers, it is also addressed to every man, woman and child out there. Blessed is that preacher who when the Lord comes or calls him home is found doing the Lord's work. Blessed is that man, woman or child who is found serving the Lord when the Lord returns or calls him or her home.
48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, 'My Lord delayeth His coming'; 49 and shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; 50 The Lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for Him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, 51 and shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites:
There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth! Do I need to comment on 48-51? I don't think so, but beware, for there are but two classes of people, those who are found in verses 45-47 and those described in verses 48-51. Which are you? Which is your preacher in? Which group are your wife and kids in? (Matthew 24:1-51 ACP/KJV)
If you are not spending more time with your head in the word of God than you are in the word of the Petey Jennings, you have a real problem. Guys, I don't know how to impress upon you the importance of understanding that the time is dreadfully short. The Lord could come at any moment, you could be killed at any moment.
For the love of God wake up and give your life to the Lord. And if you are a true Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian, please keep me and my wife in your prayers. The Lord be with you all, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush and Michael have, they, Rush, Michael and their audiences need the Lord.
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
