Well today we finish our study of the Gospel of God the Son , the Lord Jesus the Christ, as dictated by God the Holy Spirit to the Apostle Matthew. Over these last 75 days, we have followed the Lord from His birth to His death and now His glorious resurrection. In this last chapter, we will also see satan's, through his minion the high priest, last ditch effort to hide the Lord's resurrection and discredit the Lord's disciples.
Matthew Chapter Twenty-eight
1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. 5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, "Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6 He is not here: for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7 And go quickly, and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead; and, behold, He goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see Him: lo, I have told you." This happened on the morning of the first Easter. Our Easter celebrations today are in memorial for the resurrection of the Lord, not as satan would have you believe, in memory of the easter bunny. Before we leave verse one, think about who God chose to reveal His resurrection to, women, not men, but women. In verse 2 we see mention of the earthquake that we first read about in Matthew 27 verse 51 "and the earth did quake" which leads into verses 27:52 & 53.
8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring His disciples word. 9 And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held Him by the feet, and worshipped Him. 10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell My brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see Me. Not only did the Lord decide to let the women be the first to know about His resurrection, He also choose to let them be the first to see Him. Guys you might want to keep that in mind.
11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed (explained in detail) unto the chief priests all the things that were done. 12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they(the Jewish leaders) gave large money unto the soldiers, 13 saying, "Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole Him away while we slept. 14 And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you." this group of Roman soldiers came to the chief priest, and told him what they had seen, the chief priest and his cronies knew that if the word got out that Jesus had been resurrected, their little con game and fancy living were gone. So, they did what had become and still is an age old tradition of bribing the cops. They even went a bit further, they told the cops not to worry about getting caught, all the cops to do was let them know and they would go bribe the higher ups as well. I guess some thing just never change.
15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day. Got a Jewish friend? Ask him or her about Jesus and what happened to His body after they crucified Him. It is sad, but true that otherwise intelligent men and women still believe that a few disciples could have overpowered a contingent of Roman soldiers, rolled back a two ton stone, and stolen the Lord's body. And if that were the case, why would the chief priest and his cronies have had to bribe the soldiers? Why didn't they go to Pilate and complain about these incompetent soldiers and let Pilate do with them as he would and send out a legion of troops to get the body back and arrest those who stole the Lord's body?
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw Him, they worshipped Him:
but some doubted. Now before you become critical of those who doubted, look into your own life. When you first gave your life to the Christ, He gave you gift(s) and told you, for the first time, what He wanted you to do for Him. Since that time He has told you over and over again to get off your duff and go serve Him, I would bet that with the vast majority of you, Jesus is starting to feel like a broken record, He has told you that many times. Yet with each time you ignore Him, it gets harder and harder for you to hear His voice. For with each time you ignore Him, your heart gets a bit harder, your ears a bit more waxed, and your eyes a bit more scaled.
But for the dim of sight, the hard of hearing, the rock encased hearted, let the Lord speak to you one more time with His word: 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:1-20 ACP/KJV)
And so we end the Gospel as dictated to Matthew the Lord's Apostle and scribe.
So many think that, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations", means Africa or China, or some other far away place. And this they use as an excuse to sit at home, watch peter jennings and do nothing. But, the USA is a nation you know. And right here in the USA are hundreds of millions who have not given their lives to the Lord, why I'll bet there might even be one or two in your own town, city or hamlet.
The leftist are famous for saying "We have to do it for the children." When they say that you can be sure of two things, first your taxes are going up and second what ever it is they are spouting off about, will bring no good to any child any where in the world. But, there is something you can do for the children. And that thing is to do the work of the Lord, to pray for revival and put the souls of others ahead of your own personal comforts. The Lord our God, Messiah Yeshua be with you all, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush and Michael have, they, Rush, Michael and their audiences need the Lord.
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
