Children, Please, saith the Lord,
Make up your mind.
How many of you, as parents, when you have wanted to do something nice for your kids, have said "Please, make up your mind." as you waited for them to choose a flavor, a place to go, or a toy?
How many times have you tried to do something nice for one of your kids and had them say, "gee dad it's nice, but.......".
I remember a time, about fifteen years ago, the oldest boys were on their own, but the youngest, Andrew, was still at home. We were in East Stoneham, Maine, and Andrew was a teenager, thirteen years old. Well, East Stoneham, Maine, even in the height of summer only has three or four hundred people or so, and most of them are not teenagers, so, for a thirteen year old, East Stoneham is not exactly and exciting place to be.
Well, one evening, as we sat watching the sunset and listening to the loons, I looked at Andrew and said something like, "Isn't this great, wouldn't you just love to have every day like this?"
Well, Andrew replied in that tone of voice saved for parents when a kid doesn't want to actually articulate their unbelief that you could say something so dumb, "yes sir, this is just great". Later, after Andrew had gone to bed and Cec and I were still up, I said to her "Do you think Andrew is bored or something? He didn't sound like he is really enjoying himself." She agreed and suggested that maybe we should take a day trip, go someplace where there were people, someplace with a little excitement. So, later as we lay in bed, I planned tomorrow, I planned a perfect day. A perfect day for Cec, I and our thirteen year old young son Andrew.
The next morning I got up early, woke Cec and Andrew and told them to "get dressed we were off to North Conway, New Hampshire". I said, "hurry up get dressed we will eat on the way".
So, we left early and got home late, we spent the day doing and visiting, in Andrews words, "old people stuff". You see, Andrew would have been happier with a handful of quarters and to have been left alone at the country store in East Stoneham to play the pin ball machines.
What I had planned to be a perfect full day, while it was great in my eyes and really good in my wives eyes, was a bust in Andrews eyes, because it was a lot more than he wanted, all he wanted was an hour or so at the country store in East Stoneham without his parents. I didn't mess up that day because I was trying to upset Andrew, it was just that I loved him so much, I really wanted to give him more than he would have asked for. And God the Father is much the same.
The bread basket part of our country has been suffering a drought, a serious drought. Up until a week or so ago, the water holding area, the head of the streams and rivers, the Rocky Mountains have been sorely lacking in snow, causing many to fear that the drought would not only continue this year, but get worse. So, many Born Again Christians went to the Lord in prayer asking Him to give us snow in the Rockies, more specifically, in the Colorado area.
So, over a one week period, God the Father heard their prayers and answered them, He caused it to snow to the tune of seven feet in the Rockies. And while many have thanked Him, more have asked Him to damn the snow. And God looked down and said "Children, please make up your minds."
Let us not make that mistake as we pray for the success of the mission, the safety and success of President Bush and our Troops. Let us bear in mind that it is God's delight to grant us our request, that like us as parents, there is nothing that He likes doing more than giving us more than we could even dream of. We ask for a little snow, a foot or so, and He sends us enough to end the drought and fill the reservoirs to overflowing, He gives us seven time that which we asked for. Let us keep that in mind as we pray for a quick end to the hostilities in the middle east. As we pray for the success in the people of Iraq from the satanistic grip of Hussein. Let us keep in mind the power and never ending resources of God as we ask Him to free the people of Iran, Syria, and Egypt. Let us not be upset with the Lord when He answers our prayers in His own way when we ask Him to protect Israel from those who, in the footsteps of Hitler, would destroy the Jews.
Try to understand the power of your prayers from these words spoken by God Himself as He walked the earth in the form of a man named Jesus almost two thousand years ago. For if you are truly a Born Again washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian, He will hear and answer your prayers. And in that day ye shall ask Me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you. (John 16:23)
Look at what the Lord is telling you, He says verily, verily I say unto you. Do you have any idea how import things are when Jesus starts them with Verily, verily, I say unto you. Let's look at other verses that start with Verily, verily, I say unto you.
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3)
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink His blood, ye have no life in you. (John 6:53)
When Jesus had thus said, He was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray Me. (John 13:21)
When you see Verily, verily, it is as if the Lord grabbed you by the front of your shirt, pulled you up close to His face, shook you, and said, "Listen to Me, what I am about to tell you is the difference between life and death for you, this is important!"
So, what Jesus is saying in John 16:3 is: At the time just before tribulation, the time between now (about 33AD) and the Rapture of the Church, there is nothing that you can ask of Me that I will not give you. Now listen carefully, for what I am about to say is extremely important, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you.
Here read the Scripture again: And in that day ye shall ask Me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you. (John 16:23)
So, when we ask for enough snow for the year, He sends us enough not only for the year, but to make up for the previous years of drought. And as we go to Him in ernest prayer for the safety of our troops, for the success of their mission, for the safety of the entire chain of command, from the President on down, don't be surprised or dismayed when He grants us more than we expected. When we ask Him to deal with the enemies of the US and Israel, don't be surprised when He cleans the clocks of those who hate Him, freedom and His.
Let us pray:
Lord, we ask you this day to forgive us for the things we have done, thought, spoken and even dreamt that have offended Thee, for those things are sin. And we ask Thee for Thy forgiveness so that You can grant that in which we ask of You in prayer.
Lord we ask that You would protect our Military from the lowest Private up through the President.
We ask You Lord for their protection and salvation. We ask Lord that You would be with them as they free the people of the Middle East, the lands that surround Your Holy City of Jerusalem. We ask for Your guidance in the success of the missions we have undertaken, the missions to end the terrorist threat to us and our families.
We ask You Lord to either open the eyes of the blind or to simply stop them from being a threat to our success. We ask Thee Lord to fight for us on the sands of the battle fields in the Middle East, the halls of our own Congress, the UN, and in the streets of the towns and cities of our nation.
Lord we ask that You would look out for Yours in Iraq and in Israel. That You would bring to Israel the understanding and knowledge of Your word and You as the Word. Lord open their eyes and soften their hearts, let them understand who You are.
We pray these things to the Father in heaven above in the precious name of our Lord and our Saviour, Christ Jesus.
And for the things that we should pray for that we do not understand, I ask that You would allow the Holy Ghost within us to utter words to glorious for us to utter and to let the Spirit help us and our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit Itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Lord God Creator of all things, we, the people of the USA, give Thee thanks for giving us the second chance we do not deserve. We thank Thee Lord for our brave troops who are at this very instant freeing and liberating people through out the kingdom of satan. Amen. And Lord we beseech Thee that Thou would send to our men a Paul, to preach Your word to them before they go to free those held captive by the forces of evil left by Saul. Touch the Presidents heart Lord, lead him in a direction to send evangelist to our troops, give him the strength Lord to serve You, to use his office, that You have entrusted him with, as Commander in Chief to authorize and send solid evangelical Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian evangelist preachers to bring the Word of God to our troops, giving them both reason to fight and the Lord's plan of salvation.
Lord Jesus, it is in Thy Sacred and Holy Name I pray, Amen.
All Scripture is quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
God blessed America when she feared Him, now it appears, she may face His wrath.
