Are you man enough?
If you husbands will love your wife as Christ loves the Church, you won't need to raise your voice or hit her, for she will love you so much that she will revere you. God Himself has ordained it: Unto the woman He said, ... your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over thee. (Genesis 3:16b ACP/KJV)

Thanks to ACP's Steve Burzlaff, we now have the Evanglical handout, "What If" in PDF format.

Thank God for Steve,

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.

Day 26 of 40,

The family

2 Thessalonians 2:3&4
Monday, April 2,2007

While we are going to concentrate today on 2 Thessalonians 2:3, we are also going to look at one of the scariest passages in the Bible, concerning those who have made the wrong choice.

We as fathers and heads of our households, all too often, will stop short of making sure our kids have made the right choices. In Philippians chapter four we read: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure , whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, ponder these things. (Philippians 4:8)

Today, let us go to the Lord in prayer, asking Him to lead us so that our thoughts are pure, pleasing to Him and under the control of the Holy Ghost. Let us further beseech Him that our families will be seen as God fearing and that we strive to find the good in people.

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. (2Thessalonians 2:3&4)

The two verses above are pretty straightforward, telling us that rapture will not come until certain things happen, and it is one of those things we are going to focus on. " for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first," a falling away, the Greek word is apostasia. It means a standing away from the truth, a defection from truth: a falling away or to forsake. We get our English word apostasy from it. In classical Greek apostasia is used to refer to a general rebelling against the King. The devil we call satan is the fallen arch angel lucifer, one of three arch, or highest ranking angels(generals). The other two are Michael the warrior and Gabriel the messenger.

"A falling away", just what does it mean? And why should it be of such concern to us as Christian fathers? As it is used in Second Thessalonians, A falling away can come in many forms. It can be all of or any combination of or even one of the following:

Persecution: Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. (Matthew 5:10-12)

False teachers: But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. (2 Peter 2:1&2)

Temptations: They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. (Luke 8:13)

Worldliness: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (2 Timothy 4:4)

Inadequate Knowledge of Our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus: Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered. (Luke 11:52) The lawyers Jesus is referring to are those who have advanced degrees in theology, but have twisted God's word.

A lapse in morals by behaviour, dress, speech...: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. (Matthew 5:28) more on a lapse of morals.

Unbelief: Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is still called 'Today'; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end; (Hebrews 3:12-14)

And/or last, but by no means least and leading into the answer to "A falling away, just what does it mean and why should it be of such concern to us as Christian fathers":

Forsaking spiritual living and true worshiping of God: Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins. (Hebrews 10:23-26)

Why is the term "A falling away" of such importance to us as Christian fathers? Read "Forsaking spiritual living and the true worshiping of God: ... (Hebrews 10:23-26)" again. And then consider that in Second Thessalonians 2:10-12, God very clearly tells us through the pen of Paul that those who have heard the Gospel and understood the Gospel yet have rejected the Gospel do not get a second chance after Rapture, but instead, so that they can be trusted slaves of the anti-Christ, "God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."

Our children have heard the plan of salvation, our children have heard and in most cases understand the Good News of the plan of salvation. Yet some of our kids have fallen into one or more of the apostasies listed above. And for that reason, we as Christian fathers must do all that we can do to insure that our kids, young and old, find and follow Christ by giving their lives to Christ.

To my four year old Granddaughter, I explain salvation to her by telling her that she must tell Jesus that she loves Him and that she wants to be a good girl and have Him come and live in her heart. I leave the rest up to the Lord. To my boys I tell them step by step what they must do. I add in the question, why would you want to spend eternity with satan, hitler, stalin, drug dealers and muslims instead of Jesus and your brother Andrew?

And until one of the following happens, I will not stop. They become true Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians and full fledged active, participating, tithing members of a solid Christ centered, Christ preaching, Christ fearing church or The Lord raptures me or calls me home.

Can you as the primary spiritual leader of your family do any less?

Lord help us as fathers to try to remember the role You have given us, and remind us that we are not our children's best friends, but their fathers. Thank You Jesus, for it is in Your name, Lord Jesus, that we go to the Father. Amen.

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
