ACP Pastor Robert M. Celeste MCAC

The honest and the dishonest, the sighted and the blind.

Weekend of April 5th and 6th, 2003

This weekend, we are going to read Acts chapter nineteen. And I think that when you read it, you'll see that while 1,960 years may have passed, things really have not changed. As there were then men and women who heard the word of God, rejoiced, repented and were Saved, so there are today. And as there were back then men who would counterfeit God's word, so today we see the same things. And as there were back then men in office not willing to fight either for or against Christ, so do we this very day have men in women in public offices at all levels who do the same.

As we enter this, the 3rd weekend of the war to liberate the people of Iraq, we also see a reluctance, well actually a fool hearted determination on the part of the national and state wide media to refuse to apologize for their horrible anti-USA coverage, their lies and deceit claiming to know what the US is doing while only guessing and then guessing wrong time and time again. We see national, state and local politicians refusing to apologize and still trying to justify their pro-hussein/anti-Bush positions, claiming to support the President and the troops, while doing everything in their power to hinder him and them.

When we see these thing happen, it can not help but annoy us, but when we read God's word and see that the same things happened to the Apostles, that the same attitudes prevailed even back then, we can not help but feel a bit better, for God's word is soothing, soothing of spirt, soul, emotions and physical body.

Acts Chapter Nineteen

And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, he said unto them, "Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?" And they said unto him, "We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost."

And he said unto them, "Unto what then were ye baptized?" And they said, "Unto John's baptism." Then said Paul, "John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on Him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus."

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. And all the men were about twelve.

And Paul went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way(Christians) before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus. And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, "We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth." And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, "Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?" And the man in whom the evil spirit was, leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.

After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome. So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season.

And the same time there arose no small stir about that way. For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen; Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, "Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth. Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands: So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth."

And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, "Great is Diana of the Ephesians." And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul's companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theater. And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not. And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theater.

Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was confused; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together. And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made his defense unto the people. But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, "Great is Diana of the Ephesians."

And when the town clerk had appeased the people, he said, "Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshiper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter? Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly. For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess. Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another. But if ye enquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly. For we are in danger to be called in question for this day's uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse."

And when he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly. * words in unbolded green, are those spoken by satan or his demons.

As you saw in Acts nineteen, men 1,960 years ago heard the word of God preached, and like today, many had their eyes, hearts and ears opened by the Holy Spirit and they gave their lives to the Lord happily and gratefully. And like today, there were men and women back then that worshiped things of gold and silver instead of God. Like in the time of Paul, we today have Sceva's, men who claim to be doing the work of the Lord but are not, and like then, while they deceive other men, they do not fool satan and his demons. And as back then, we today have politicians like the town clerk, who will pacify all, but, through default ignore and reject Christ Jesus and His.

As you watch the coverage of our war to pay Saddam back for 9-11-2001, liberate the people of Iraq, make Israel safer for the Jew and the Christian, and bring freedom to the entire region, listen carefully to those who know what is going on and how things are going, the President and his team. Contrast what you hear the President say with those in the media who make every attempt to look smarter and more knowledgeable than the President. And then listen to those who oppose the President and as such support hussein and his regime, using outright lies and deception.

No, nothing has changed, and nothing will change till the Lord returns and rescues us.

May the Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with and bless those who fight for freedom and liberty, and may He bring to each and every one of them knowledge of His saving grace. And may the Lord our God, Christ Jesus, put such fear in the hearts of our enemies that they will drop their weapons and surrender. And may we be smart enough and honest enough to give the credit for the victory to the Lord God Creator of all things, our Lord and our Saviour, Christ Jesus.

And to all of you who have taken the time to send me words of encouragement, words of thanks, it is I who thank you and thank God for you. It is I who am in your debt, for it is you the Lord has allowed me to serve. Thank you.

Lord God Creator of all things, we, the people of the USA, give Thee thanks for giving us the second chance we do not deserve. We thank Thee Lord for our brave troops who are at this very instant freeing and liberating people through out the kingdom of satan. Amen. And Lord we beseech Thee that Thou would send to our men a Paul, to preach Your word to them before they go to free those held captive by the forces of evil left by Saul. Touch the Presidents heart Lord, lead him in a direction to send evangelist to our troops, give him the strength Lord to serve You, to use his office, that You have entrusted him with, as Commander in Chief to authorize and send solid evangelical Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian evangelist preachers to bring the Word of God to our troops, giving them both reason to fight and the Lord's plan of salvation.
Lord Jesus, it is in Thy Sacred and Holy Name I pray, Amen.

All Scripture is quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.

God blessed America when she feared Him, now it appears, she may face His wrath.
