...so are My ways higher than your ways...

April 5th, 2006

In the last day or so I have received some sad news. Not only has my dear brother in the Lord, Dr. Allen Gilpatrick, been denied his parole but Paul, the son in law of Dr. Kent Hovind, died of cancer. I had prayed for Paul to be healed and Allen to be released, yet God chose to allow just the opposite of my prayers to be done. And while the consolation for Melissa, Dr. Hovind, Mrs. Hovind and family is that Paul is with the Lord, with Allen I have a hard time finding consolation.

Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto Me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear, and come unto Me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people. Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for He hath glorified thee. Seek ye the LORD while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall My word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off. (Isaiah 55:1-13 ACP/KJV)

Many people turn to Psalm 23 when things go wrong for them. For me, I find solace in these words of God: "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." For I know that when we pray, we should understand and add in at the end of the prayer the very words of Christ Jesus, our Lord and our Saviour: "O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done." For Jesus Himself told us when teaching us how to pray: "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." So when I pray and when what I asked did not come to pass exactly as I wanted it to, I have learned over the years that yes indeed, God's thoughts are not my thoughts, His ways are not my ways for His thoughts are higher than my thoughts, His ways are higher and purer than my ways.

Many of you may remember back a few years when Cecily and I were looking for a large piece of land to have a Christian campground here in Maine, the capital of sodomy. Well, we prayed and asked others to pray yet God said "No Bob!" But do you know what God did do? He gave us people who have land and are willing to allow home schooling Christian families to come and camp on their land for $25.00 a week. Now for some that would have been plenty, but not for My God. Recently I found out that a very close brother in the Lord has bought a hill top, and he is making it into a Christian campground where folks can bring their trailer and leave it there. In other words a summer home here in Maine at very affordable rates.

So you see, when God doesn't seem to answer our prayers the way we want Him too, He does accomplish what is right and in need of being done.

The other thing that gives me great consolation in times like this is the Apostle John. Now no one seems to know for sure, but my research has lead me to believe that John, who was the Apostle closest to Jesus, the one referred to as the one "whom Jesus loved", may very well have died in the prison mine of Patmos. We know for a fact that John was in prison when He wrote the Revelation of Jesus. My research indicates that John first penned Revelation, next the three epistles of John, and then finally the Gospel according to John. Now please note, I am not saying John died in prison, I know that there was a change of Roman emperors during the AD 90's and that there was a temporary ending to the persecution of both Jews and Christians. But, if John did not die in prison, he was sure mighty old when released.

John was the last of the Lord's hand picked Apostles. Imagine how he would have been sought after to preach, teach and heal. I wonder if he would have ever had the time to write Revelation, three epistles and a Gospel if he had not been in prison.

How do we know for sure that John was in prison at the time he took dictation and wrote the Revelation of Jesus? Well, on that Scripture and history are very emphatic. I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea. (Revelation 1:9-11 ACP/KJV)

Lord, I know that Your ways are higher than my ways, Your thoughts higher than mine, but, Lord it hurts so bad. I know that while satan means these things for evil, You will make them into something good. Lord, I ask you for comfort, not just for Cec and I but more for my brother Allen and his sons, and for Melissa, Kent and Paul's family. And Lord, I understand that Eric and Billie aren't feeling well, Your touch would be greatly appreciated. Amen.

Never ever forget this: There aint no purgatory!

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."

Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush, Sean and Michael have, they, Rush, Sean and Michael and their audiences need the Lord.

Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.

The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.

It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
