Often time the following verses taken from Romans is viewed as only referring to homosexuals. Not so, it is also referring to any and all who meet the criteria the Lord, through His Apostle Paul, is describing.
For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. (Romans 1:20-23 ACP/KJV)
Do you see where I have underlined, "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools"? Well today we are going to look at another category that fits that description. Some of them may be homosexuals, and some may not be, but, they like the homosexuals have "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools".
Today I want to talk about those who somehow think they are smarter than God. Ones who profess themselves to be able to know what in the Bible is of God and what isn't. We won't be going into all of the verses, chapters and books that many, especially in the Clergy, have come to conclude that God didn't say what He wanted, but they know what He really meant to say, in His book the Holy Bible.
Today we are going to discuss one of the most erroneous fallacies in Christiandom today. The claim that some make claiming that they know what in Old Testament is to be obeyed and what can be ignored.
Let me start by saying that we here at ChristianPatriot.com know that God caused the entire Bible to be written. In it He said exactly what He wanted to say. He said it exactly how He meant to say it. And He meant it exactly how He said it. We also understand tht if we don't understand a part of the Bible it is not because God didn't know what He was talking about, it is because we simply are not smart enough to understand it or God for one reason or another has not chosen to enlighten us with knowledge and understanding of it. God knows exactly what He wanted to say in His book, the Holy Bible and He said it exactly the way He wanted to.
Today we are going to look at two things Jesus has to say about the Old Testament in the New Testament.
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:17-20 ACP/KJV)
The bottom line here is Jesus is saying that as far as everything in the Old Testament is concerned, unless it dealt with His first coming, or unless He verbally changed it, it is still 100% in effect. Let's look at some examples. All of the verses dealing with the requirements of the Messiah to be the Messiah have been fulfilled by Jesus. From the Born of a virgin Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 to His resurrection from the dead For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt Thou suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption. Psalm 16:10 and But God will redeem My soul from the power of the grave: for He shall receive Me. Psalm 49:15 And finishing with Jesus's ascension up into heaven as prophesied Thou hast ascended on high, Thou hast led captivity captive: Psalm 68:18a
So, everything in the Old Testament that refers to the first coming of the Lord God of Creation has been fulfilled, you need not look any further, for Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ.
And as far as all of the dietary requirements are concerned? Well following them will certainly not hurt you, and may make you healthier. But, is it a sin to not abide by the diet of the Old Testament? No. Why? Jesus changed it. In Acts chapter ten we read of Peter when he was on a roof top and hungry.
And Peter became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance, and saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth: Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air. And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. But Peter said, "Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean." And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven. Acts 10:10-16
Some things in the Old Testament, in changing, Jesus made them even more stringent, such as adultery and divorce. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Matthew 5:27&28. It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. Matthew 5:31&32.
But, now understand this, everything else, everything other than What Jesus either fulfilled or changed that is written in the old Testament is still 100% in effect. Everything.
I'm going to go to the Book of Leviticus Chapter 18 for a minute to show you something.
1 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the LORD your God.
3 After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.
4 Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the LORD your God.
5 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD.
6 ¶ None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the LORD.
7 The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
8 The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness.
9 The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.
10 The nakedness of thy son's daughter, or of thy daughter's daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover: for theirs is thine own nakedness.
11 The nakedness of thy father's wife's daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
12 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's sister: she is thy father's near kinswoman.
13 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother's sister: for she is thy mother's near kinswoman.
14 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father's brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt.
15 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter in law: she is thy son's wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
16 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother's wife: it is thy brother's nakedness.
17 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.
18 Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time.
19 ¶ Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness.
20 Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour's wife, to defile thyself with her.
21 And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.
22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.
24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:
25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.
26 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:
27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)
28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.
29 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.
30 Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God. (KJV)
Above is exactly how Leviticus 18 is written in the King James Version. As you read it you will undoubtably agree with most of it, but when you get to verse 19, Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness. You shake your head and say: "That was for then, not today." Really?
What makes you able to pick and choose what Scripture you will obey and which you will ignore. Let me say this, your sleeping with your wife when she has her period is not going to cost you your salvation, BUT, remember those seats on the right hand of Jesus and on His left that the mother of James and John wanted so badly for her two sons? Well they may still be open, for Jesus replied: Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto Him, "We are able". And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on My right hand, and on My left, is not Mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of My Father. (Matthew 20:22&23 ACP/KJV)
Fathers have you taught your sons not to sleep with his wife while she is having her period? Mothers have you instructed your daughters to sleep separate from her husband while she is having her period? If not, think again about what Jesus said in Matthew five: "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven:"
Now why do you think God would want a husband and wife to sleep separately in this day and age? How about this, God wants married couples to have children, and absence makes the heart grow fonder. Even short absences such as four or five nights.
Lord, help us to not try and second guess You help us to understand that Your word is our Owners' manual. You wrote it for our edification, so that we could live a long and happy life as Your children. Amen.
Never ever forget this: There aint no purgatory!

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
