Look, forget the denominational garbage, your salvation is your responsibility!

April 12th, 2006

It never ceases to amaze me at some of the junk I receive in the mail. I'm not talking about the stuff from stores and credit card companies. I'm talking about junk I get from those who are supposed to be Born Again Christians.

Let me start by saying this again. I am not responsible for your salvation, you are. Every man woman and child on earth is responsible for their own salvation. If you think you are going to stand before God on judgment day, that is the micro second after you take your last breath, and He says to you: "Why should I let you into My heaven?" If you think a response like: "Well Lord, I read this book and in it, it said that what I really needed to do was ignore Jesus and go straight to You" or "Well Lord, it's like this, I was kinda busy with my life and I never found the time to really go to church or read my Bible or even give You much thought, but, I tried to live a good life" will get you into heaven, you have a sad awakening awaiting you.

Guys, yesterday I received a book and a couple of tabloid newspapers in the mail. I received them from a friend, a man whom I know has heard the Gospel and the plan of salvation, because I did his mother's funeral. And he was at that funeral. But now he seems to be trying to put his books, written by men, not even good commentary, into my hands. They are just plain blasphemous books designed to ridicule and start fires. Let me give you a quote, according to the book he sent me: "Easter; this word has been adopted from the pagans as an attempt to 'inculturate' by syncretism a behavior that is absolutely an abomination." Page 12 Fossilized Customs By Lew White.

Easter is the one holiday, Christian holiday, that has no set date. Let's look at Easter in the Bible. Did you know that the word Easter is used only one time in the entire Bible? That's right it is used only in Acts 12:4. It is describing a time when Peter was in jail. And when he (Herod) had apprehended him (Peter), he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

Let's look at the context: Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.) And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. (Acts 12:1-4 KJV)

Now let's look at verse four with the Greek: And <hos> <kai> when he had apprehended <piazo> him, he put <tithemi> him in <eis> prison <phulake>, and delivered <paradidomi> him to four <tessares> quaternions <tetradion> of soldiers <stratiotes> to keep <phulasso> him <autos>; intending <boulomai> after <meta> Easter <pascha> to bring <anago> him <autos> forth <anago> to the people <laos>.

Now let's look at the Greek word pascha: A word originally of Chaldee origin; which means the Passover (the meal, the day, the festival or the special sacrifices connected with it):--Easter, Passover. Now let's look at the Hebrew, the word for Passover is pecach, pronunced peh'-sakh

it means, a pretermission, i.e. exemption; used only technically of the Jewish Passover (the festival or the victim):--passover (offering).

There is nothing pagan about the word Easter. Easter is the high holiday of Christianity. It is celebrating the resurrection of the perfect sacrifice, the Lamb of God, Christ Jesus.

I don't know how many of you out there are wasting your time reading garbage like this, but if you are spending time reading books like the so called Gospel of Judas, the Davinci Codes, Fossilized Customs or others, let me suggest you get your face out of the books of satan and into the Book of God, the Holy Bible.

Jesus said:

1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto Him, "Rabbi, we know that Thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him." 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4 Nicodemus saith unto Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?" 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

9 Nicodemus answered and said unto Him, "How can these things be?" 10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? 11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?

13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but He that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him (Jesus) should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation, that Light (Jesus) is come into the world, and men loved darkness (satan) rather than Light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the Light, neither cometh to the Light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the Light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

22 After these things came Jesus and His disciples into the land of Judaea; and there He tarried with them, and baptized. 23 And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized. 24 For John was not yet cast into prison.

25 Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purifying. 26 And they came unto John, and said unto him, "Rabbi, He (Jesus) that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men come to Him."

27 John answered and said, "A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven. 28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, 'I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before Him.' 29 He that hath the bride (church) is the Bridegroom (the Christ, Jesus): but the friend of the Bridegroom, which standeth and heareth Him, rejoiceth greatly because of the Bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease. 31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: He that cometh from heaven is above all. 32 And what He hath seen and heard, that He testifieth; and no man receiveth His testimony."

33 "He that hath received His testimony hath set to his seal that God is true. 34 For He whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto Him. 35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into His hand. 36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." (John 3:1-26 ACP/KJV)

Instead of reading and pondering things not of the Bible, why not spend some time pondering what Our Lord and Saviour said in John Three? And as for those of you who think they can skip Jesus and go straight to the Father, well read what the Son of God has to say about that:

For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: John 5:22

No man can come to Me, except the Father which hath sent Me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:44

And if those don't get you back on track, well try this on for size: Jesus saith unto him, I Am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me. John14:6

Do not trifle with your salvation my friend, you ignore or denigrate the Trinity and you risk your very soul. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God. (Romans 14:11)

The word Lord in Romans 14:11 in the original Greek is kurios, pronounced koo'-ree-os to find it search for 2962 in KJV. It is from the Greek word kuros (supremacy); and means supreme in authority, i.e. (as noun) controller; by implication, Master (as a respectful title):-- God, Lord, master, Sir. It has no Hebrew counterpart to imply that it would be referring to God the Father instead of God the Son.

Lord please don't let satan tempt us with his false doctrine and twisting of words, help us to stay focused on You and Your words. Amen.

Never ever forget this: There aint no purgatory!

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."

Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush, Sean and Michael have, they, Rush, Sean and Michael and their audiences need the Lord.

Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.

The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.

It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
