All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
The more I read God's word the more convinced I become that if we would only turn to Him and His word we would find ourselves a whole lot less sick. First, and I can not emphasis this enough, never ever under any circumstances allow anything to be put into your body or into a body of a little one God has entrusted to you, that has not, by double blind study, been proven to be both safe and effective. Never ever under any circumstances put anything into your body or the body of one God has entrusted to your care without reading every last word written in the warning and or ingredient list that comes with that thing. That is not just for so called medical stuff like vaccines, but goes for corrupt food as well, things like canola oil which bugs won't even eat. The rape seed plant goes by the name canola.
When it comes to healing the sick, there are a couple of things to remember, one of which is that not all will be healed. Jesus tells us through the pen of His Apostle Paul:
And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And Jesus said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness.
Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. (2 Corinthians 12:1-10)
There are times when God is not going to heal. The reason may be as in the case of Paul, so that he will not become too egotistical. In other cases it may be that the illness will further the kingdom of God, and in still other cases it is because we go and ask the Lord amiss. Back in James four, the half brother of the Lord tells us: Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. (James 4:3)
Before you go asking the Lord to heal you or one you love, you had best know the Lord and what He has to say about healing and staying healthy.
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. 8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.
9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door. 10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. 11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. 14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. (James 5:7-18)
Be patient. I have seen healing happen in minutes, hours, days, weeks, and some I am still waiting for. In most instances, the reason for delay is either we are asking amiss, we have unrepentant sin, or it is not in God's best interest that the person be healed.
Let us look at unrepentant sin. First, do you understand what sin is? Sin is doing, saying, thinking or dreaming anything that offends God. How do you know what offends God? You have to read His book, the Holy Bible, there is no other way. Repenting is three fold. First you must confess those sins, not to me, not to any other man, but to God. Next you must truthfully ask God to forgive you. And third you must make every effort to turn 180 degrees from that sin. The confessing and repenting is between you and God, but the turning 180 degrees from that sin, should be apparent to any and all that know you. For instance, let's say that you have a problem with dress and or language. Immediately after going to the Lord and confessing that you dress seductively and that your speech is dishonoring to Him, your dress should change and your language should be cleaned up. These changes should happen immediately. How can you go to the Lord to heal your son's or daughter's sickness if you are dressing like a slut and speaking swears and curses?
How can you expect God to answer your prayer for healing when you deny Him by being a believer in evolution? Why would He answer the prayers of anyone who is not working to protect the baby in the womb? Why would God hear your prayers and heal you when you worship the earth instead of Him by making the earth a goddess instead of one of God's creations? Why should the Almighty hear you and answer your request for healing when you dress in a manner that causes men to lust in their hearts? Why should God not ignore you when you ignore Him and the sanctity of His word by having a mistress or by gambling, or by putting a football game ahead of teaching your children to love and obey His word?
If you are going to ask the Lord to heal, you had best be on His right side.
Did you know that one of the Old Testament names for God is Yahweh Rapha? Do you know what Yahweh Rapha means? It means The Lord who heals. I want you to see a key to the Lord's healing, look at what He has to say: If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in His sight, and wilt give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. (Exodus 15:26)
For further reading on healthy eating and healthy living, read Leviticus 17:10-19:4, 9-19, and 19:9 through 20:27.
One last thing, let members of your church help you. Let your pastor and the church's Bible teachers help you understand as you run into questions. My answer is always, pray, but many pastors will sit down with you and help you sort through God's word. Let church members of the same sex help hold you to a higher standard and help hold you accountable.
Lord Jesus how very, very much we love You, how forever grateful we are for what You did on the cross, and for the many times You have heard our prayer and healed our sick. Thank You Jesus, and Lord it is in Your name that we give praise, honor and glory to the Father. Amen.
