You only spank the ones you love.

Would any of you doubt this statement: "Jesus loves the Apostle Peter." No of course you wouldn't. For it is obvious that the Lord God Creator of the earth loves Peter, for out of all the world, at the time, He choose Peter to be one of His twelve and as we will see, one of the three in the inner circle. Yet, as we will also see, when Peter messed up Jesus came down on him like a ton of bricks. As we go through Mark chapter fourteen today, I am going to point out to you places where the Lord made Peter's life miserable, absolutely miserable. Why? Because He loved Peter. Jesus loved Peter so much that when Peter stepped out of line, the Lord yanked on Peter's reins so as to prevent him from getting any further out of line.

The United States of America is now right on 225 years old. During that time we have had 43 presidents, out of those 43, there are only two whom I would invite into my home to share our evening cup of coffee or tea with my wife and myself. Those two would be President George Washington, the first President and President George Bush, our current President. I will be very frank and honest with you, if one of the presidents between these two were to come to my home, unless it was to discuss the word of God for they were searching to find the Word, I would not only refuse them entry, I would use what ever force necessary to prevent them for disturbing Cec and I during that private time at night which is ours. Many of you have called my home after 7:30 at night and found out just how abrupt and even rude I can be, once I find out that your call could have waited till the next day or could have been made earlier.

You see, out of all our presidents, there are but two whom I love, and because I so love George Bush 43, not only would I invite him in for coffee or tea, I have to take him to task when I see him getting out of line as a Christian. It is not only because I know these thoughts are read in the White House, it is because I love him and feel towards him as I do towards those of you who attend ACP on a regular basis. Many of you have seen and heard me point a finger at you, open my bible and correct you with Scripture. How can one whom God has sent to shepard and preach, not abide by: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. (2 Peter 1:20&21) and All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (2 Timothy 3:16).

Do I love George as much as Jesus loves Peter, of course not, I am incapable of loving with 1/10th of 1% of the love of the Lord. But that does not alter the fact, that when the President forgets to give glory to God or forgets that He is representing and serving Christ in the highest office of the land, that I would hesitate to use God's word to do everything in my very limited power to bring him back in line.

Let us go to the Lord: Mark Chapter Fourteen

1 After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take Jesus by craft, and put Him to death. 2 But they said, "Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people."

3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as He sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on His head. 4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, "Why was this waste of the ointment made? 5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor." Sounds a little like those in government that get upset if we spend our own money instead of giving it to them to spend.

And they murmured against her. 6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on Me. 7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but Me ye have not always. 8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint My body to the burying. 9 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

10 And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray Him unto them. 11 And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray Him. Now here I would say to the President: See George, you have ted kennedy, john kerry and olympia snowe, but Jesus had judas who was worse than the three together. I would say that because you must and should also joke with those you love.

12 And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, His disciples said unto Him, "Where wilt Thou that we go and prepare that Thou mayest eat the passover?" 13 And He sendeth forth two of His disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. 14 And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, 'Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with My disciples?' 15 And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.

16 And His disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as He had said unto them: and they made ready the passover. 17 And in the evening He cometh with the twelve. 18 And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with Me shall betray Me. 19 And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, "Is it I?" and another said, "Is it I?" 20 And He answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with Me in the dish. 21 The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of Him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is My body. 23 And He took the cup, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them: and they all drank of it. 24 And He said unto them, This is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many. 25 Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

26 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. 27 And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of Me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.(see Zachariah 13:7) 28 But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.

29 But Peter said unto Him, "Although all shall be offended, yet will not I." 30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny Me thrice. 31 But he spake the more vehemently, "If I should die with Thee, I will not deny Thee in any wise." Likewise also said they all. Peter put his pride ahead of his submission to the Lord, and Jesus turns to him and in essence says: 'Defend Me? Die with Me? Die for Me? No Peter, I don't think so, you'll not only turn, run and abandon Me, you'll deny Me three times. And just to remind you, and every one else of your betrayal, I, God, will hold back the rooster from crowing a second time till you have denied Me three times.' As you will see, Jesus is not done correcting Peter.

32 And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and He saith to His disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray. 33 And He taketh with Him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy; 34 And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch. 35 And He went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. 36 And He said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto Thee; take away this cup from Me: nevertheless not what I will, but what Thou wilt. As the Lord took His disciples with Him, He separated Peter and two witnesses, John and James and had them come with Him. Peter was not only going to get further correction, but, as above with his reprimand by the Lord in verses 29-30, it is not going to happen privately.

37 And He cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour? 38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak. 39 And again He went away, and prayed, and spake the same words. 'What Peter, you're sleeping? Peter, you can't even stay awake to pray with Me, how are you ever going to defend Me? Are you going to die with Me in your sleep? Oh sure Peter, words are easy to speak, but actions are harder to do.'

40 And when He returned, He found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer Him. 41 And He cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 42 Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth Me is at hand. 'What Peter, you're sleeping again? Ok, go to sleep, I've made My point.' And even now, the Lord is not done with Peter's corrections.

43 And immediately, while He yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. 44 And he that betrayed Him had given them a token, saying, "Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is He; take Him, and lead Him away safely."

45 And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to H im, and saith, "Master, Master;" and kissed Him. 46 And they laid their hands on Him, and took Him.

47 And one of them(Peter) that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. A little of what the Lord must have sunk in, for here we have Peter trying to say to the Lord, "See, I told You I'd fight for You." Peter should have learned to follow the Lord and not try and lead Him.

48 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take Me? 49 I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took Me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled. 50 And they all forsook Him, and fled. All, would of course include Peter.

51 And there followed Him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him: 52 And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked. I believe that young man to be John Mark, the boy who went with Paul and Barnabas, and later wrote this Gospel as dictated to Mark. One reason being that it is only here in this Gospel of Mark that there is any mention of the lad.

53 And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes. 54 And Peter followed Him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire. And Peter followed the Lord way back in the crowd, back with the sightseers, back with the servants of the high priest, back so far out that he was on the porch, not even in the house.

55 And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put Him to death; and found none. 56 For many bare false witness against Him, but their witness agreed not together. 57 And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying, 58 "We heard Him say, 'I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.'" 59 But neither so did their witness agree together.

60 And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, "Answerest Thou nothing? what is it which these witness against Thee?" 61 But He held His peace, and answered nothing (See Isaiah 53:7).

Again the high priest asked Him, and said unto Him, "Art Thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" 62 And Jesus said, "I am!": Now many of you know people who claim that Jesus was 'just a good man.' This verse, these two words, "I am", spoken by Jesus in answer to the high priest question makes that impossible. For either Jesus is who He says He is, The Christ, the Son of the Blessed. For He is either the Christ or a liar, but in no case just 'a good man.'

and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. 63 Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, "What need we any further witnesses? 64 Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye?" And they all condemned Him to be guilty of death. 65 And some began to spit on Him, and to cover His face, and to buffet Him, and to say unto Him, "Prophesy:" and the servants did strike Him with the palms of their hands.

66 And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest: 67 And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, "And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth." 68 But he denied, saying, "I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest."(Once!) And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew. 69 And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, "This is one of them." 70 And he denied it again. (Twice!) And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, "Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto." 71 But Peter began to curse and to swear, saying, "I know not this Man of whom ye speak." (Thrice!) 72 And the second time the cock crew.

And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny Me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept. (Mark 14:1-72 ACP/KJV)

So when you think I'm hard on you, or hard on the President, think about that last line in verse 72, Peter wept, and think back to the way Matthew ends his relating of this incident: And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny Me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly. (Matthew 26:75 ACP/KJV)

Do you see how much the Lord loves Peter? Do you see how hard a lesson the Lord has given Peter? Can you even begin to imagine how hurt Peter must have been?

Yet, Luke makes it even clearer: And Peter said, "Man, I know not what thou sayest." And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew. And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny Me thrice. And Peter went out, and wept bitterly. (Luke 22:60,61&62 ACP/KJV)

No guys, I wasn't all that hard on the President, and I'm not all that hard on you. All I try to do is remind you of Whom it is you serve, Who it is that created you and Who it is that you owe your allegiance and your salvation to. In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same (Jesus) was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him (Jesus); and without Him was not any thing made that was made.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with us all, and may He love each of us, including the President, as He loves Peter. Amen.

Gentlemen, there is a Pastor of a small church in western Pennsylvania, His name is Rev. Don Demars, I need him, his wife and his ten kids here in Maine with me. Please stop what you are doing, go to the Lord and ask Him to make it happen. Jesus knows the problems and difficulties we face in making this happen, and it is only with His help that it can happen, so please go to the Lord in prayer.

Also ask the Lord to help me know if introducing Brad and Julia would be the right thing to do.

Lord, please send Your servant Don and his family to me, please Lord. Amen.

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.

I would also like to thank the Lord that Dorothy has a large print Bible, while I am not to happy about the way she got it, I am pleased that she has it. And now my prayer is that she will read it and the Lord will let the Holy Spirit guide her to understanding it. Amen.

The Lord be with you all and please keep me in your prayers. I have some very important decision to make over the next few weeks or months, I need your prayers. Amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."

Pray for the daughters of Will, for Will, and his mom. Pray that the Lord will put the girls back under the control of Steve.

Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush and Michael have, they, Rush, Michael and their audiences need the Lord.

Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.

The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.

It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
