All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. Please note, this thought hits to close to home to have Cecily proof read it, so I am posting it with only my proofing it, which means there will undoubtably be typos and grammatical error, please bear with them.
At times, it seems as if the Lord Jesus saved the worst for the pen of Paul. As the one Christ choose to write most of the New Testament rules, doctrine and explanations for the church, Paul, or so it would seem, was also the one the Lord choose to write the stuff that hurts the most.
There are those who, when I am evangelizing and they constantly ask silly question, bring up everything they can to try to contradict the word of God, and, other than showing some restraint as to not seem overly rude, all but laugh in my face. Those are the ones I can not wait to comply with 2 Thessalonians 3:6,14&15, Titus 3:9-11. But what about when it is someone who is near kin? then, the realization of 2 Thessalonians 3:6,14&15 and Titus 3:9-11 hurts. It hurts so bad that I find myself in desperate prayer to the Lord.
But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. A man that is an heretic after the first and second admonition reject; knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself. (Titus 3:9,10&11)
We cannot spend our entire lives evangelizing one man or women, there comes a time when we must face the reality that they have chosen the pleasures of this world ahead of the security of eternal salvation and eternal glory with the Lord Jesus. There comes a time when we must face up to the realization that, that person is more interested in the fleeting happiness of today than the eternal happiness of life eternal with the Lord. There comes a time when we must turn to other pastures and leave that one to the Lord. But, what about when it is near kin?
Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Christ Jesus, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. (2 Thessalonians 3:6,14&15)
Easiest enough to do when the one you are admonishing is not one who is also near kin. So, in light of Scripture, what is one to do when the one we are commanded to walk away from is near kin? Even harder what if that one has also a small child or two, three or more?
The answer is found is Scripture. One, obey Scripture for it is the word of God. The second thing we do is also found in Scripture, pray without ceasing.
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to go to the Lord in prayer when you are facing a crisis? A crisis of such magnitude that you come to the realization that God and only God can solve the problem? Is that not what we are faced with when we come face to face with the cold hard fact that the one Jesus is discussing, through the pen of Paul, in 2 Thessalonians 3:6,14&15 and Titus 3:9-11 is one who is of near kin.
Lord Jesus, there are times when I need a prayer grandparent. Do You think you could bring me to remembrance in the minds of Abraham Murray Cohen and Honest Earnest? Will not the 18th, be hard enough on us Lord must we also face this? The stakes are to high for me Jesus, I am blinded by the amount on the table. That picture seems to take any assurance I had away from me Lord. I have turned the stakes over to You Lord, but there cometh new stakes, stakes I am concerned with as well. Is this how you felt when one said to You "Behold, Thy mother and Thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with Thee." And You replied Who is My mother? and who are My brethren? ?
Lord do you remember our conversation of June 10th, 1995? Do You remember the part about I deserve it, but what about Cecily? Could I not ask that again? Was that picture not enough pain for her? was yesterdays phone call not enough? Did you not tell us that we are to treat Your sisters as the weaker vessel? Should You not lead by example?
But Lord, I thank You for this time just the same, for it has been, while up and down, a wonderful time. A time to be able to say, I tried, while maybe not as hard as You would have me too, I did at least try.
Thank You Jesus. Amen.

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
