Rev. Bob Celeste
Well today I would like to announce that I have put the link to Focus on the Family back up on ChristianPatriot.com's link page.
As many of you know, I take the Word of God and His word very seriously, and oft times that makes me a little like a bull in a china shop. For those of you too young to understand that saying, "a bull in a china shop", go ask your grandparents, they'll explain it to you.
But anyhow, I get really upset when anyone takes God's literal word and changes it, and at times, I may even over react. When I do, it is best to leave me alone and eventually I'll come around. This is one of those times.
Back, oh four or five months ago, maybe longer, I had contacted Dr. Dobson on his interpretation of the word "day" in the Genesis account of creation. I got a spokesman, not Dr. Dobson. That in itself annoyed me to no end, and probably clouded my judgement. See, I let pride get in the way too. This spokesperson told me that Dr. Dobson did not believe in a literal 24 hour day, that Dr. Dobson didn't think the world was created in six literal 24 hour days.
Over the last few months, actually the last year an a half or so, I have been giving some real serious thought to going back to school. As a result I have had the opportunity to talk to a lot of men with PhD's after their name.
If I go back to school, it will not to be to get an advanced degree in theology, but to study Hebrew and Greek more fully. This led me to go and listen to one Dr. Scott J. Hafemann of Gordon-Conwell Seminary. As I listened to Scott, I came to two conclusions, first Scott is a bit to the left of me when it comes to theology. But, when it comes to Greek and Hebrew, he is the best there is.
I don't know where Scott comes in on the Creation debate, but, my guess would be that he is on the side of a literal 24 hour day. But, Dr. Hafemann is regarded highly enough to have been part of the translation team of the NIV. But, I digress, back to Dr. Dobson and Focus on the Family.
Over the past 23 years or so, Focus on the Family has done so many wonderful things, Dr. Dobson has written many fine books dealing with his speciality, and has been a boon to those trying to raise their children in a godly manner. During that 23 years, Jim has not even taken a paycheck from Focus on the Family. For me to judge him based upon one thing was both wrong of me and pig headed of me. Not to mention letting my ego and pride get in the way and become a stumbling block, not a good stumbling block as is the Lord, but a bad stumbling block as is satan.
But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him: (Daniel 5:20)
And Jesus saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also?
Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats? But, that which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. (Mark 7:18-23 ACP/KJV)
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (1John 2:16 ACP/KJV)
Do you know that the word pride is used about 46 times in the KJV. And that all but one of those show pride to be a bad thing. In one case it may be taken as either good or evil. See if you can find it.
Over the years I have come to the conclusion that one of the main, if not the principal, stumbling blocks to one's getting saved, is pride. Greed, ego, pride, and stupidity. All of which can be summed up in the one word pride.
So, I am glad to say that I have finally put my ego in the closet right beside my pride, admitted I was wrong and have restored Focus on the Family back on the links page.
Lord, help me to be less prideful and egotistical, amen. And as for you, Dr. Jim Dobson, please accept my deepest apologies and welcome back to ACP's link page.
And now a brief note about next week. Pastor Jim Marstaller and I, along with 3 others from this area, will be attending a Pastors' conference in Ohio next week. I will have the lap top with me and if possible I will post thoughts, but, if I am unable to, I will be back at this time next week.
The Lord bless you all, amen.
Sha'al shalowm Yruwshalaim.
Never ever forget this: There aint no purgatory!

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
