Monday June 15th, 2009 Why a woman should not be in any kind of leadership role in the church. Part of the natural use of the woman series.
Well, first of all it is good to be back. Six and one half months is a long time, but we all, at times, need to get away and come face to face with The Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
Now, first, I had wanted to start out by doing a series on homosexuality, but this week I am instead going to be touching on some things, you, as a Christian man, need to know and understand.
First let us understand a strong belief and guiding principal for me. That is, that The Bible is God's Holy Book, He said exactly what He wanted to say in it, He said it exactly the way He meant to say it, He means every word He said, and if we don't understand something, it is not because God doesn't know how to express Himself, it is because we are not as smart as God.
That said, let us look at why a woman should not only not pastor a Christian church, but why she should have no leadership role in a Christian church even if there are no men to fill the role. If there are no men to fill the role, then close the church and go to one that has men, for if God has not supplied men, then it should be clear to one and all that He doesn't want that church open.
Women have a God ordained role, a very important role, for without women there would be no next generation. Why is it that so few are willing to accept the role God has given them? A key word for this series of "the natural use of the woman" is "natural use of the woman".
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. 1 Corinthians 14:34&35 Is that so hard to understand? Do you have trouble with that? Could Christ, thru the pen of Paul, have been more clear?
Do you doubt Paul was saying this by order of God? If so than you need to understand this: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16&17 .
Let us return to why a woman should have no leadership role in a Christian church.
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus; Who gave Himself as a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. For I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. 1 Timothy 2
See the word "Childbearing' in the Above Scripture. It is in the Greek the word teknogonia, pronounced tek-nog-on-ee'-ah. It means literally not just childbirth, but parenting. The performance of the maternal duties of a mother. That is what the word "childbearing" meant in 1611. Ask yourself is there anything that a woman does that is more important than being a mother, a God fearing mother that teaches her children to honor their father and fear God?
Let us continue.
Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands. That, if any obey not the Word (Christ and the word of God), they also may without the Word (Christ and the word of God) be won by the conversation (behavior and speech) of the wives; While they behold your chaste conversation (behavior and speech) coupled with fear (your love of God).
Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. 1 Peter 3:1-7
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: Romans 1:26 See that term "natural woman"? It is not natural for a Christian woman to be a preacher, a pastor, a leader of the church. That term "natural woman" has been interpreted by too many lazy ones as simply meaning lesbianism. It goes way beyond sexual behavior and covers a multitude of things. it covers women not doing what God has ordained for them and instead doing what God has not ordained them to do.
Let us continue with why no Christian woman should have any leadership role in a Christian church.
Unto the woman He(GOD) said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. Genesis 3:16 How can a man rule over his wife is she is a leader of a church?
Let me close with This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, 1 Timothy 3:1&2a. How, might I ask, is a woman to be the husband of one wife in God's eyes? God does not condone nor accept the abominable practice of homosexual and/or lesbian marriage.
