Tuesday June 16th, 2009 Render unto caesar what is caesar’s.
There is a joke going around the internet. I’m not sure if it is a racist joke or not, and to be honest I really don’t care, for the only ones who are racist are those who call God a liar by believing and/or propagating the lie of evolution.
“The Postal Services created a stamp with a picture of Obama. The stamp was not sticking to envelopes. This enraged Obama, who demanded a full investigation.
After a month of testing and $1.73 million in congressional spending, a special postal commission presented the following findings:
1)The stamp is in perfect order.
2)There is nothing wrong with the adhesive.
3)People are spitting on the wrong side.”
Reading the above caused me to both laugh and to think. Obama is not the anti-Christ, he is nothing more than a two bit anti-Christ wannabe who is being used by satan to further attack Christ and Christians.
Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle Him in His talk. And they sent out unto Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, “Master, we know that Thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest Thou for any man: for Thou regardest not the person of men.
Tell us therefore, What thinkest Thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?”
But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye Me, ye hypocrites? Shew Me the tribute money.
And they brought unto Him a penny. And He saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say unto Him, “Caesar's”.
Then saith He unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. When they had heard these words, they marveled, and left Him, and went their way. Matthew 22:15-22
“Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.” I could write a book about that statement made by the Lord God of creation some 1,975 years ago. As is His way, Christ went further into this statement thru the pen of one of His Apostles.
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: Whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king. 1 Peter 2:13-17
I could write another book based upon just those five verses as well. But, I’m not in a book writing mood and you’re not here to read a book, so I’ll be brief and get to my point.
I am convinced that Obama is neither the anti-Christ nor even legitimate as President of the USA. I’m further convinced that he was never sitting as a legal US Senator, for I do not believe that he is a citizen of the USA. That said, he, Obama, is not the king! But even if Obama was legal, even if he were qualified constitutionally to hold the office of President of the USA, he is still nothing more than a creation.
Let us look at what is Caesar’s and what is God’s.
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:1
1 In the beginning was the Word(Jesus), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The Same(Jesus) was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by Him(Jesus); and without Him(Jesus) was not any thing made that was made. John 1:1-3
Jesus created the heaven and the earth, Jesus created everything in the universe and beyond, for nothing was made without Him. Now, let’s face it, He who created all things owns all things, and as the owner of all things He, Jesus, gets to make the rules and is the ultimate and final judge. So, on the face of it, we might say we do not have to give the government anything because nobody but God owns anything. That would be nice, but it would also be incorrect. For you see, He who owns can also give ownership to whom ever He pleases, forever, or for a period of time. That period of time may not even be a specified length of time, it may be for a generation or for a certain entity’s or person’s life.
God gave dominion of the earth to Adam:
And God said, Let us make man in Our image, after Our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. Genesis 1:26-29
So, God gave dominion of the earth, and all living things and all plants to Adam. Now since Adam is now the title holder of earth and all things, Adam can transfer title to whom ever He will, for Jesus did not stipulate, when giving dominion to Adam, whom he could or could not give his ownership interest to.
And give it away Adam did, not to his children, not to his wife, not to you and I, but to satan, the devil, the evil one.
And the devil, taking Him (Jesus) up into an high mountain, shewed unto Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto Him, “All this power will I give Thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be Thine.”
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind Me, Satan: for it is written, ‘Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.’ Luke 4:5-8
Notice that when satan claimed ownership, Christ did not dispute it, but instead reminded us that we are to worship God. God only are we to worship. What does that tell you? It tells you that when you render unto Caesar, you render what is really Caesar’s, which does not include worship. You are only to worship God.
So, yes, you are to pay your taxes and yes, you are to obey the law, unless it conflicts with God’s law. As an example, homosexual marriage is legal in Maine, yet, because God says homosexuality is an abomination, I can and will refuse to perform a homosexual marriage. And God deal with any that lead me astray thru lies and deceit in an effort to get me to perform a marriage between anything other than one naturally born male human and one naturally born female human. But, for the most part, you are to obey the government. After all, remember, this earth is not your home, you are but a sojourner here, a visitor. Furthermore, our visit here isn’t for all that long anyhow. Go to a cemetery, look on a grave marker and notice the dates of that person’s life. Those dates indicate the length of time that dead one was alive here on earth.
It is not the here and now we should be concerned with. It is the hereafter and all eternity that should be our concern.
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Hebrews 9:27&28
Therefore, fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28
So, yes, “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.” Just never forget that worship is to the Lord our God only, not to any man or thing. Your eternity depends upon your remembering and adhering to that statement.
