Dad, I wanna be a street evangelist.

So, you're sitting at dinner one night, you do all sit down to dinner together don't you? And as you tell about the events at work today, your twelve year old son announces to you that he wants to be a street evangelist for Jesus. Then your fourteen year old daughters pipes in with, "Dad, mom, do you remember that missionary family we had speaking at church several weeks ago? Well, their 16 year old son Danny and I have been writing back and forth. What I would like to do with my life is marry a missionary, have a dozen kids and be his helpmate in reaching the unsaved Indians of the South West."

So, here you and your wife are sitting, your son wants to be a street evangelist and your daughter aspires to be a housewife and helpmate to a dirt poor missionary serving in the deserts of heathen, Roman Catholic, snake worshiping, New Mexico's Indian Pueblos. As you look over at your wife, do you see a smile on her face or a frown? What about your face? Are you wearing a smile for having raised your children right or are you expressing your inner thoughts on your face, the thoughts centered around what a miserable, poor, downtrodden life your children have chosen and how you must convince them to do otherwise.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid most of the Christian community would have a frown on their faces and would be trying to convince their son to go to law school and their daughter to not waste her life being a helpmate, but instead to think about how girls can be anything they want to these days, doctors, lawyers, senators, congresswomen, etc.

Before we go any further, we need to get a few things straight about your relationship with your children. First of all, they aren't yours!

In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word (Jesus) was with God, and the Word (Jesus) was God. The Same (Jesus) was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him (Jesus); and without Him (Jesus) was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:1,2&3 ACP/KJV)

For by Him (Jesus) were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him (Jesus), and for Him (Jesus): (Colossians 1:1 ACP/KJV)

You and your kids, as well as everything on earth belongs to Jesus. He created them, so they are His. And what did He create your son to do?

And He (Jesus) said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. (Mark 16:15 ACP/KJV) Sounds like a street evangelist to me. And what about your daughter, what did Jesus create her to do? What did He create her to do?

From Genesis chapter two, first the ACP/KJV and under it, Young's Literal translation, YLT.

18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. (ACP/KJV)

18 And Jehovah God saith, `Not good for the man to be alone, I do make to him an helper--as his counterpart.' (YLT)

19 And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. (ACP/KJV)

19 And Jehovah God formeth from the ground every beast of the field, and every fowl of the heavens, and bringeth in unto the man, to see what he doth call it; and whatever the man calleth a living creature, that is its name. (YLT)

20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. (ACP/KJV)

20 And the man calleth names to all the cattle, and to fowl of the heavens, and to every beast of the field; and to man hath not been found an helper--as his counterpart. (YLT)

21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; (ACP/KJV)

21 And Jehovah God causeth a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he sleepeth, and He taketh one of his ribs, and closeth up flesh in its stead. (YLT)

22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made He a woman, and brought her unto the man. (ACP/KJV)

22 And Jehovah God buildeth up the rib which He hath taken out of the man into a woman, and bringeth her in unto the man; (YLT)

23 And Adam said, "This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man." (ACP/KJV)

23 and the man saith, `This is the proper step! bone of my bone, and flesh of my flesh!' for this it is called Woman, for from a man hath this been taken; (YLT)

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. (ACP/KJV) Note: In Matthew 19:4&5, we learn that it was God who said "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh." Not Adam, as it would appear.

24 therefore doth a man leave his father and his mother, and hath cleaved unto his wife, and they have become one flesh. (YLT)

So, what did God create your daughter to do? He created your daughter to marry the man He has created just for her. He created her to be that man's helper, help meet, counterpart. I have a friend named Don. Don has a wife, Theresa. Theresa has given Don ten children and followed him to various churches in the rural Northeast as he preaches God's word. Theresa homeschools, makes clothes, and holds neither a medical degree nor law degree, yet I have never hear a negative word said about Theresa. Then we have Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe, two Republican women who serve as Maine's two US Senators. I am hard pressed to think of anything I have heard positive about either of these two.

If you don't train 'em, don't blame 'em.

I want you to take a moment and think what Olympia Snowe or Susan Collins might have said if it was one of them that Gabriel spoke to in Luke 1:26-38.

No, if either the father of Olympia Snowe or Susan Collins were to ever to have their eyes opened and become Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians, neither could complain, neither could blame their daughters, for by looking at their voting records, their life styles and the things they say and do, it is obvious that neither of their fathers ever trained 'em to be help meets. If you don't train 'em, don't blame 'em!

Fathers, encourage your sons to serve God and encourage your daughters to serve her husband who serves God. I cannot for a minute imagine doing this ministry without Cecily. I cannot for even a microsecond imagine Don doing his ministry anchored to a Susan Collins or Olympia Snowe. Dads, if your daughter grows up to be an Olympia Snowe or a Susan Collins you have no one to blame but yourself! If she grows up to be a Theresa or a Cecily, you can pat yourself on the back, but you had best spend a lot of time on you knees thanking God, because you can not do it on your own these days. Likewise with your sons, if your son grows up to be a Barney Frank or a John Edwards, it is your fault! If he is the father of ten kids, married to a God fearing woman who totally supports him as he goes about ministering to the souls of heathens on the street or reservation, then pat yourself on the back and give praise and thanks to God, because he could not have been a missionary unless he were called and he could not be called without God's intervention and help.

Lord God Creator of the Universe, if I have found favor in Your sight, would You hearken unto my request and grant all those fathers and mothers out there their prayer if they are praying for Your help in training their sons and daughters to serve You. Praying not for riches of this world for their children that You have entrusted them with, but riches of heaven. Amen.

May the Lord understand the importance of Mac and Cecily to this ministry. Lord I need them both healthy and able to continue to hold up their ends. Lord this cancer of Mac's is starting to get in the way, this ministry needs him whole, just a thought Lord, is all it will take, just a thought on Your part.

There is a young man, a veteran who suffers from some kind of chemical weapon exposure, in a Veterans hospital in Colorado, he is young, and he is saved, yet his wife just abandoned him. Please pray for him, Lord, help him and deal with her and those who hurt him, we ask this of the Father in Your name Lord Jesus, amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with and bless you all, amen.

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.

I would also like to thank the Lord that Dorothy has a large print Bible, while I am not to happy about the way she got it, I am pleased that she has it. And now my prayer is that she will read it and the Lord will let the Holy Spirit guide her to understanding it. Amen.

The Lord be with you all and please keep me in your prayers. I have some very important decision to make over the next few weeks or months, I need your prayers. Amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."

Pray for the daughters of Will, for Will, and his mom. Pray that the Lord will put the girls back under the control of Steve.

Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush and Michael have, they, Rush, Michael and their audiences need the Lord.

Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.

The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.

It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
