It is hard for us at times, to put into prospective, life eternal in heaven versus life eternal in the lake of fire. God does a great job in His book, the Holy Bible explaining how horrible eternal damnation is and how absolutely wonderful life eternal with Him, the Son and the Holy Ghost will be in heaven. But still, for many, it is beyond comprehension and they look for a simpler method of comparison.
Right on 1,974 years ago when God walked the earth as the God/Man, Jesus, He used the common terms and expressions of the day. When He wanted to use and illustration, He used examples of things of that day, so that all could understand Him, although as we all know, most choose to ignore His teachings and, like today stay in their sin.
Well, today, while not trying to play Jesus, but to try and copy His style, I am going to try and get you to, using things common to us today, to understand the difference between Life eternal with God and life eternal in the lake of fire with the chief architect and inventor of abortion, satan.
First what is heaven like? God's word tells us:
And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on Him, saying, "If Thou be Christ, save Thyself and us."
But the other answering rebuked him, saying, "Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this Man hath done nothing amiss!" And he said unto Jesus, "Lord, remember me when Thou comest into Thy kingdom."
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with Me in paradise. (Luke 23:39-43 ACP/KJV)
So, what is heaven like? It is in the words of the Lord God Creator of all heaven and earth, paradise. But, what can we liken it to here on earth? How about the smell that comes from a bakery while they are making fresh bread.
And the lake of fire, what is that like? Well, Jesus spends a whole lot more time explaining in detail the horrors of the lake of fire than He does the glories of heaven.
And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 8:11&12 ACP/KJV)
Outer darkness, gnashing of teeth.
For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in My name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in Me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm (body and spirit) dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. (Mark 9:41-48 AC/KJV)
So, eternal damnation is, in the words of He who created all things, including heaven and the lake of fire: "outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, ... the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm (body and spirit) dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." but, what can we liken that to in today's terms, what smell can we associate with eternal damnation? Since we are associating heaven with the sweet, pleasant, mouth watering aroma of fresh bread baking, how about the smell of flatulence in an elevator for hell.
I am going to be gone till next Wednesday, I have a homework assignment for all of you. First, I want you to not let anyone in your family flush the toilet for 48 hours. Keep the door closed and put towels around the cracks at the bottom and top of the door, keep the bathroom window closed, we want it to reek, stink, smell horrible, really bad, worse than any elevator ever stunk. At the end of that time, Have your wife or yourself or one of the kids bake some fresh bread. When the great smell of baking fresh bread is at it's best, march the whole family into the bathroom for a few minutes and after they have gagged, complained run out or time holding their breath, then flush the toilet, open the windows, turn on the exhaust fan, and get back into the kitchen with that delicious smell of fresh baking bread. How you explain is up to you, but if you cannot come up with something on your own, use what I have written above.
The second part of your weekend assignment is tonight at 3:AM, I would like you to get up, kneel down and pray for the Kentucky state legislature. They are having difficulty in understanding that marriage is between one naturally born man and one naturally born woman and is God ordained, not man ordained, so that only God can change it not man.
Part three of your weekend homework assignment is this: As you may have noticed, I am getting older. My principal proof reader is sick and I have missed more and more days putting up thoughts. I have cut back to only three a week. I need help. I have found a man who will be, next summer, given the passwords for ChristianPatriot.com. He will, for lack of a better term, be the assistant pastor of ChristianPatriot.com. His name is Steve and I would like you to keep him in your prayers. Him, his wife and his family. Being an internet preacher is not easy, it is not easy at all, being my assistant, is even more difficult, as any of the volunteer unpaid editors of Christian-news-in-maine.com would gladly testify, as would Mac the proof reader for ChristianPatriot.com would certainly agree.
I will also, within the next month or so, be giving the passwords to Christian-news-in-maine.com to a Pastor in Naples, Maine. Jim, if is possible, may be taking on an even harder task than Mac and Steve.
So, part three of this weekends assignment is to pray for Steve and his family, Jim and his family and to God that I have made the right choices. For ChristianPatriot.com and Christian-news-in-maine.com are not mine, but His. For without Him, neither would have ever gotten off the ground or past the first week. Seven years ago, when ChristianPatriot.com first got started we had something like 1,000 hits for the whole year. Today, praise be to God, ChristianPatriot.com is among the top fundamental Christian preaching sites on the world wide web. That could only happen through God, not me. Up until ChristianPatriot.com, as Mac can well testify too, since he has known me for over fifty years, the most successful thing I ever did was put shingles on roofs.
I thank God for everyday that He has gotten me through the turmoil that made up the first years of ChristianPatriot.com, the insults, names called and horrors of those first years. For the blessing He bestowed upon me were ten fold the horrors that satan used in his feeble efforts to close us down. But now it is time for me to assure the continuance of both ChristianPatriot.com and Christian-news-in-maine.com by bringing in solid God fearing God loving Born Again washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians to share the work and the blessings that come with doing the Lords work on the web.
I am absolutely positive that Steve will do better than me on ChristianPatriot.com. I am just as sure that Jim will make acpnews the place for Christians to go for their daily national and world news.
The Lord God of Creation, Christ Jesus, bless them, their families and all of you tenfold for the blessing that you and they have been to me. Amen.
Sha'al shalowm Yruwshalaim.
Never ever forget this: There aint no purgatory!

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
