Sheep and goats. Tuesday August 27th, 2003
In the Bible, we often read about two different animals, sheep and goats. Both are compared to and used in reference to people. Jesus says in Matthew chapter twenty five that on the day of judgement He will separate the sheep from the goats.
When the Son of man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His glory, and before Him shall be gathered all nations: and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats.
And He shall set the sheep on His right hand,
but the goats on the left. (Matthew 25:31-33)
Jesus will set the sheep on His right hand and the goats He will place on His left. But how do we know that the sheep are the good guys and the goats the bad?
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which He spake unto them.
Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before Me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
I am the door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
I am the Good Shepherd: the Good Shepherd giveth His life for the sheep. (John 10:1-11)
Jesus is the door by which His sheep, Born Again Christians, enter. He is also the Good Shepherd that gave His life for Us, His sheep.
I am the Good Shepherd, and know My sheep, and am known of Mine. (John 10:14)
Let's go back to Matthew twenty five for a minute. We are going to look at two verses, verse 34 and verse 41.
Verse 34 Then shall the King say unto them on His right hand (the sheep), Come, ye blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
Verse 41 Then shall He say also unto them on the left hand (the goats), Depart from Me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
So, we pretty much have two groups of people, the sheep and the goats. The sheep, according to Jesus in Matthew 25:34, are blessed and inherit the kingdom of God. The goats, according to Jesus in Matthew 25 verse 41, are accursed and spend eternity in the lake of fire with satan and his minions.
Today in Alabama a sheep is fighting a bunch of goats. We are surprised at some that have turned out to be goats, but goats they are. The sheep is Chief Justice Roy Moore. Justice Moore has put Christ ahead of political gain, He is standing solid in his Christian belief that all government powers come from God and that the very basis for our laws is the Ten Commandments. Justice Moore is faced with much the same dilemma that John and Peter faced in Acts 4 and 5.
And they (the high priest and the rulers of the jews) called them (John and Peter), and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. (Acts 4:18-20)
Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them (John and Peter) without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.
And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, saying, "Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name (Jesus)? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man's blood upon us."
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, "We ought to obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
Him hath God exalted with His right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. And we are His witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey Him. (Acts 5:26-32)
Just like John and Peter, Justice Roy Moore has chosen to follow God rather than the order of a Christ denying court. And like John and Peter 1,970 years ago, Justice Moore is both a hero and a sheep, a member of the flock of the Good Shepherd Christ Jesus.
The Attorney General of Alabama used to appear to be a sheep, but nowadays, he is starting to smell a lot like a goat. Sheep do not climb over the beaten bodies of other sheep to attain positions of power such as federal judgeship appointments. But goats do.
May the Lord our God bless Justice Roy Moore and may He open the eyes of AG Bill Pryor. Amen.
Lord God Creator of all things, we give Thee thanks for giving us the second chance we do not deserve. We thank Thee Lord for our brave troops who are at this very instant freeing and liberating people through out the kingdom of satan. Lord we beseech Thee that Thou would send to our men a Paul, to preach Your word to them while they go to free those held captive by the forces of evil. Touch the Presidents heart Lord, lead him in a direction to send evangelist to our troops, give him the strength Lord to serve You, to use his office, that You have entrusted him with, as Commander in Chief to authorize and send solid evangelical Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian preachers to bring the Word of God to our troops, giving them both reason to fight and the Lord's plan of salvation. And put the end of abortion at the top of his agenda.
Lord Jesus, it is in Thy Sacred and Holy Name I pray, Amen.
red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
God blessed America when she feared Him, now it appears, she may face His wrath.
