Matthew 5:44 and Luke 6:28 What I believe day two
In this "What I believe" series I am going to articulate Scripturally just what I believe and therefore what positions are taken on ChristianPatriot.com. Today, why I believe we are commanded to pray for the salvation of every man, woman and child on the earth.
While I am convinced that there is nothing wrong with praying for the salvation of specific individuals, I believe that Christ has commanded us to pray for the salvation of every man, woman and child on earth.
Read Carefully what Jesus said in John 3: 15-17.
15 That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him (Jesus) should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:15-17 ACP/KJV
God did not leave heaven and come to earth as a speck in the womb of the virgin Mary and to be put to death on a cross so as to offer salvation only to a select few, He came to earth so that all could be saved.
Now look at who Jesus specifically tells us to pray for, it is not the people you love, people who love you and do nice things for you, He knows your going to do that automatically, no, He tells us to pray for those who hate us, those who torture us, those who destroy our families, those who you would rather damn.
Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. Luke 6:28
Look these words of the Lord's written though the pen of the Apostle Peter. "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9
So, while I do not believe it is wrong to pray for the salivation of specific individuals, I believe we are commanded by Christ to pray for the salvation of every man, woman and child on the earth. For if we don't pray for the 10 year old muslim child being strapped into a explosive laden vest by his parents to be remotely detonated in an effort to kill, who will?
No, I don't pray for them specifically, not even by specific groups, for if I did that I would miss some individuals or groups. I simply add, after praying for the salvation of specific men, women and children, "And Lord I pray for the salvation of every man, woman and child on earth..." In Christ name, Amen.
