Sometimes even the NY Times can be relatively honest.

I do not like to use secular quotes for the thoughts, but this one from yesterday''s edition of the New York Times is one that I feel very appropriate for today:

Chaos gripped New Orleans on Wednesday as looters ran wild, food and water supplies dwindled, bodies floated in the floodwaters, the evacuation of the Superdome began and officials said there was no choice but to abandon the city devastated by Hurricane Katrina, perhaps for months. President Bush pledged vast assistance, but acknowledged, "This recovery will take years."

More: And to the rising toll of victims killed, injured or homeless and jobless were added other plagues: possible epidemics of disease; overwhelmed hospitals and sanitation facilities, lost communications and transportation systems and almost everywhere hellish scenes of wreckage-strewn communities. . . . . The bulk of the city's refugees were in or around the Superdome, which has become a shelter of last resort for more than 20,000 people. Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco of Louisiana said conditions there had become desperate, with food, water and other supplies running out, with toilets overflowing and the air foul, with temperatures hitting 100 degrees and tempers flaring. It's becoming untenable," the governor said. "There's no power. It's getting more difficult to get food and water supplies in, just basic essentials." She said she wanted the Superdome totally evacuated within two days, and plans were being made to move most of the refugees to Houston's Astrodome, 350 miles away, in a convoy of hundreds of buses. About 700 of the elderly and sick were removed from the sweltering stadium on Wednesday, but they were being sent elsewhere in the state.

One thing we need to remember is the God that is allowing chaos to reign in New Orleans is the same God who let the world and mankind go bad. He is the same God who then sacrificed His own Son in a brutal death in order to save that sin filled world.

I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: 2 Kings 20:5 (KJV)

Like Pastor Bob on Wednesday, I am not going to belabor the point. A terrible situation exists in the areas ravaged by Katrina. These people need our prayers. I urge each of you to take time from you schedule to earnestly pray for them. Pray for the government leaders at all levels, from President Bush down to the city council of Oak Grove, MS. Pray for the rescue workers that are involved in the effort to find survivors and care for them, for the law enforcement officers that are trying to restore law and order. For the health care workers trying to care for the sick and injured. Pray for the thousands that are involved at all levels of the rescue effort. But I think the most important prayers are for those who have had their lives turned upside down by this event. Pray for the orphans who lost their parents, pray for the parents who lost their children. Pray for the families who have been torn apart and do not know if their loved ones are still living.

PLease pray for Danny Calhoun, Danny and Theresa Gilpatrick, Seth Winslow, George Robert and this ministry and all involved with it.

Never ever forget this: There aint no purgatory!

Lord Jesus, please give women a love for their babies, from the moment of conception on, let them love them I pray Thee. Amen.

The Lord bless you all and may He heal Mel's eyes and Myra's ears. May You be with Colby as he is now out of boot camp and into Fleet Marine Corps, A Christian babe amongst many a wolf.

And Lord I ask You to bless those who bless me and mine tenfold for the blessing they are to me.

May the Lord understand the importance of Mac, Cecily, Steve, and Rev. Jim Marstaller to this ministry. Lord I need them both healthy and able to continue to hold up their ends. Lord this cancer of Mac's is starting to get in the way, this ministry needs him whole, just a thought Lord, is all it will take, just a thought on Your part.

There is a young man, a veteran who suffers from some kind of chemical weapon exposure, in a Veterans hospital in Colorado, he is young, and he is Saved, yet his wife just abandoned him. Please pray for him, Lord, help him and deal with her and those who hurt him, we ask this of the Father in Your name Lord Jesus, amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with and bless you all, amen.

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."

Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush, Sean and Michael have, they, Rush, Sean and Michael and their audiences need the Lord.

Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.

The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.

It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
