What's in a word?

What's in a word? Way back on Wednesday September 11th, 2002, I did a thought entitled "So, why did God kill Onan?". That thought was hacked and became one of the most popular sites for porno sites to link to. This is what they did.

In the thought I explained, thru Scripture, that God did not kill Onan for masturbating, no, God caused Onan to die because Onan disobeyed his father and therefore one of God's rules. This of course caught the eye and the scanning of the porno industry.

After showing four verses of Scripture, in there entirety, I wrote this:

"When a child out and out disobeys his parents he is not honoring them. When a father tells his son to do something and he makes it absolutely clear exactly what he wants him to do, as Judah did with Onan, and that son out and out disobeyed his father, is he honoring his father? Of course not, and that is why God killed Onan. God killed Onan to impress upon us the importance of honoring our parents. Not threatening eternal damnation for masturbating. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not recommending that you masturbate, what I am suggesting is that you think twice before disobeying or dishonoring your father and your mother."

This is what the porno hackers did to that paragraph, and that is the only paragraph that they changed:

When a child out and out disobeys his parents he is not honoring them. When a father tells his son to do something and he makes it absolutely clear exactly what he wants him to do, as Judah did with Onan, and that son out and out disobeys his father, is he honoring his father? Of course not, and that is why God killed Onan. God killed Onan to impress upon us the importance of honoring our parents. Not, threatening eternal damnation for masturbating. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm recommending that you masturbate, what I am suggesting is that you think twice before disobeying or dishonoring your father and your mother.

Notice the underlined "I'm not recommending" they changed the entire thought by deleting one word, the word "not". They changed it to read, "I'm recommending".

And that is as good an example as I can think of to demonstrate how important one word can be. On Sunday August 29th, 2004, my wife and I attended a church service where the pastor is a man, the so called director of education is a woman. The male pastor was away, so the woman so called 'director of education' was scheduled to explain what her position really meant.

She said, amongst other thing, that her job was to be a go between for the pastor and the various committes in the church, she was the one that all the committees reported to including the men's bible study teacher. This makes her the assistant pastor. That in itself is enough to get me to leave!

But, it only got worse. Remember what the porno industry did to that one thought about Onan, well, she justified her position by corrupting Scripture, by adding two words. She than went on and did a sermon starting by reading Acts chapter six from something other than the KJV.

Acts Chapter Six

1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians (all non Hebrews) against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. 2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, "It is not reason(good and proper) that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables(do non preaching stuff). 3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you(find) seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business(appoint as elders). 4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word."

5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: 6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

7 And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. (Acts 6:1-7 ACP/KJV)

Do you see in verse 3 where the word men appears, she, in her commentary added women. So, she taught, from the pulpit, that Acts chapter six verse three really read, "Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you(find) seven men and women of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business(appoint as elders)."

She added 'women', and therefore justified her being the assistant pastor by perverting Scripture. Because regardless of the title, if one acts like the assistant pastor, has the responsibilities of the assistant pastor and stands in and preaches when the pastor is away, that person is the assistant pastor.

Are you seeing how important one word can be? Are you seeing why it is so important that you study the Word of God yourself. How many of you would have caught that one word? How many of you would be returning to that Christ denying church again? Look, anyone can make a mistake in Scripture, they can misinterpret something, they can even inadvertently twist Scripture a bit, but for one to sit on the pulpit and add a word or two to Scripture that one has just read, is not a mistake, it is out and out perverting Scripture to justify a sin.

There will be light in the lake of fire before my wife or I set foot in that church in Bridgton, Maine again for anything other than to see a Christian entertainer, a wedding or a funeral. Never again to hear blasphemy preached from the pulpit, for it is the male pastor who hired this woman, it is the male pastor that authorized her being on the pulpit that day.

Does not Scripture teach us that a day will come when it is nearly impossible to find the true word of God? Do you know where that Scripture is? If you answered by saying "Yes", I praise God! But, if you answered by saying "No", than, if you are a regular here at ACP, then I am ashamed of you and me and ask God to forgive us both. For you not know means that I did not teach correctly. BUT, and get that BUT, your salvation and knowledge of God's word and His Word are your responsibility more than mine. For to each falls the individual responsibility of choosing salvation through the Christ. While my responsibility is to be here for you, your responsibility is to do what the Bible teaches you to do.

You are not going to get away with this answer to God on the day you stand before Him, "Ah, Lord, I don't think Bob covered that thoroughly enough."

Lord help us to understand that if we can not find a good church that we must start our own church. Lord, You know that I really don't want the responsibility of being the pastor of a physical church, but, if You don't lead us to a good solid Christ preaching church soon, I am going to need to plant one, if only for Cecily and I. So, Lord, please, lead us to a church that has a pastor that is not smart enough to know what You really meant to say, so he preaches what You did say instead. In the name of Jesus I pray.

Amen.

May the Lord understand the importance of Mac and Cecily to this ministry. Lord I need them both healthy and able to continue to hold up their ends. Lord this cancer of Mac's is starting to get in the way, this ministry needs him whole, just a thought Lord, is all it will take, just a thought on Your part.

There is a young man, a veteran who suffers from some kind of chemical weapon exposure, in a Veterans hospital in Colorado, he is young, and he is saved, yet his wife just abandoned him. Please pray for him, Lord, help him and deal with her and those who hurt him, we ask this of the Father in Your name Lord Jesus, amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with and bless you all, amen.

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.

I would also like to thank the Lord that Dorothy has a large print Bible, while I am not to happy about the way she got it, I am pleased that she has it. And now my prayer is that she will read it and the Lord will let the Holy Spirit guide her to understanding it. Amen.

The Lord be with you all and please keep me in your prayers. I have some very important decision to make over the next few weeks or months, I need your prayers. Amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."

Pray for the daughters of Will, for Will, and his mom. Pray that the Lord will put the girls back under the control of Steve.

Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush and Michael have, they, Rush, Michael and their audiences need the Lord.

Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.

The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.

It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
