Today's Christian thought:

Yesterday, a day to look back and remember, today is a day to look forward.

Friday September 12th, 2003

Yesterday was the 2nd anniversary of the horrific attack on the US on September 11th, 2001. Yesterday was a good day to look back and think about what happened that day and what has happened in the two years since. Over the last two years, we have invaded and conquered Afghanistan and Iraq. Over the last two years we have seen no more attacks on our soil, but a few vicious and senseless attacks on freedom in other parts of the world.

That was yesterday. Today, let us look forward, let us look towards a better future. Not necessarily better here on earth, but a better future in our home with the Lord in His paradise.

And what better way is there to look forward towards life eternal in paradise with the Lord than to read His word.

1st Peter, chapter 2:

Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A CHIEF CORNER STONE, ELECT, PRECIOUS: AND HE THAT BELIEVETH ON HIM SHALL NOT BE CONFOUNDED (Isaiah 28:16)

Unto you therefore which believe He is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, and a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. For this is thank worthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth: Who, when He was reviled, reviled not again; when He suffered, He threatened not; but committed Himself to Him that judgeth righteously: Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. (1 Peter 2)

So, as we took yesterday to look back on the horrors of September 11th, 2001, let us use today to look forward to the glory of being with the Lord. For as we read the words dictated to the Apostle Peter by the Holy Spirit, we see reassurances that this Earth is not our home, we are but visitors here, we are reassured that for us who are Saved, our home is in paradise with the Lord God of Creation, the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. So as we were sad yesterday let us be joyful today. And let us give God both glory and praise for the wonders He has done for us, for His allowing Himself to be hung on the tree for our sins and providing us with a way to salvation. A way not taken by all, but by those of us who are Born Again and Saved.

Let us take a minute to ask God to show those who are unsaved the truth.

Lord we give You thanks and Glory, we thank You for shedding Your precious and sinless Blood. Amen.

All Scripture is quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
