Gimme, gimme, gimme

How is it, that so many figure that prayer revolves around "Gimme, gimme, gimme Lord, give me, give me, and give me even more."?

You had best watch out, because when you say to the Lord, "Give me Lord" and "Let me be more like You Lord" and "Lord I need..." you may just find that the Lord God of Creation has heard your prayer and will give you more so that you can be more like Him.

John Chapter Fifteen

1 I (Yeshua) am the true vine, and My Father(Yahweh) is the husbandman. 2 Every branch in Me that beareth not fruit He taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth (prunes) it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in Me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches:

He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing. 6 If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto (for) you.

8 Herein is My Father glorified,

that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be My disciples. 9 As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you: continue ye in My love. 10 If ye keep My commandments, ye shall abide in My love; even as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love.

11 These things have I spoken unto you, that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. 12 This is My commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 Ye are My friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of My Father I have made known unto you. 16 Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it you.

17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.

18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept My saying, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things will they do unto you for My name's sake, because they know not Him that sent Me. (John 15:1-21 ACP/KJV)

Jesus is the Vine, God the Father is the Gardener, you and I, who have heard the word of God, are the branches. The Gardener prunes all of the good branches to make them more productive. The unproductive branches He cuts off and tosses away. Once a branch is cut off and tossed away, it is no longer attached to the Vine, so it can no longer live and bear fruit. Not all who hear the Word of God become productive, as we see in the Parable of the Sower.

Mark Chapter Four

1 And He began again to teach by the sea side: and there was gathered unto Him a great multitude, so that He entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land. 2 And He taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in His doctrine(teaching(s));

3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow: 4 And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up. 5 And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

8 And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. 9 And He said unto them, he that hath ears to hear, let him hear. (Mark 4:1-9 ACP/KJV)

Those who are good branches will produce, not all equally, but all do produce. Some, like Billy Sunday, Billy Graham, and Charles Spurgeon produce millions, others, like the Primitive Baptist preacher that first introduced Charles Spurgeon to the Lord, only produce a few, but all produce.

And like those three mentioned above, all who produce will be persecuted in one way or another. Persecuted you say? How do you figure Billy Graham has been persecuted? Why look at the way he lives, look at his home, the money he has, the car he is driven around in.

How often I hear folks slander Billy Graham, how often I hear complaints about his home, his property, the 'things of this world'. Let me remind you of what the Lord has to say about wages.

1 After these things the Lord appointed another seventy also, and sent them two and two before His face into every city and place, whither He Himself would come.

2 Therefore said He unto them:

The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He would send forth labourers into His harvest. 3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. 4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.

5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, "Peace be to this house." 6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. 7a And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. (Luke 10:1-7a ACP/JV)

"... the labourer is worthy of his hire." Has not Billy Graham, a man who when he opens his mouth and preaches that salvation is only through the Blood of Christ, and is heard by anywhere between one, as in the case of President George W. Bush, and millions, as is the case when he buys time on ABC, not worthy of living better than me?

But persecution you say, how is Billy Graham persecuted? Do you not think he knows about and hears about the slanderous things said about him? How some who preach criticize him, ridicule him and even question his being Saved? Do you not think that this affliction he now has is not persecution? Rev. Graham's life has been preaching Christ, and now, he is slowed down, even cast aside by some, because of these physical debilitations. But, then again, if Rev. Graham were not forced to step aside, how would his son have ever gotten the stage?

There are many more things to look at in the Bible reference above, but one thing that should be mentioned is that there is no such thing as "Once saved always saved." It is "Once you are a truly Saved productive Christian, the you are always Saved." Does that mean that all are to prove their salvation by getting out and preaching? God forbid. It means that you must be part of a ministry that does get out and evangelize, preach, water, sow or does something to be a productive branch waiting and praying to be pruned. I will use four, as examples. Steve in Kentucky sends me articles I need to see and read, he and his wife visit Cec and I when we are in Kentucky. Julia in Illinois sends me long, long e-mails that put a smile on my face and give me reason to hope and pray for the two generations behind mine. Mac, God bless him, out in New Mexico has been my proof reader for seven long years, he has put up with me for over fifty years, is terminal and never cries, moans or complains. Do these three preach? No. But are they an integral, necessary part of this ministry? Yes.

And then there is my wife Cecily. Cecily gets up each morning, gets dressed and goes to teach in a secular, public, government run school, she totally funds this ministry. Does she preach? Only to me. Could I do ACP without her? No, it would be quite impossible for me to do ACP without Cecily's complete support and encouragement.

So, to be a productive branch, do you need to go stand on the street corner preaching Christ? While that would be nice, no, not if that is not what you are called to do. But there is much you can do. "Come, ye blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave Me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave Me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took Me in: Naked, and ye clothed Me: I was sick, and ye visited Me: I was in prison, and ye came unto Me." ...

"Lord, when saw we Thee an hungred, and fed Thee? or thirsty, and gave Thee drink? When saw we Thee a stranger, and took Thee in? or naked, and clothed Thee? Or when saw we Thee sick, or in prison, and came unto Thee?" ...

"Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, ye have done it unto Me."

So, what can you do to be a productive branch praying to be pruned? If you have not figured it out, go to the Lord in prayer and ask Him what He would have you do.

The Lord Gd of Creation, Christ Jesus, be with you all.

May the Lord understand the importance of Mac and Cecily to this ministry. Lord I need them both healthy and able to continue to hold up their ends. Lord this cancer of Mac's is starting to get in the way, this ministry needs him whole, just a thought Lord, is all it will take, just a thought on Your part.

There is a young man, a veteran who suffers from some kind of chemical weapon exposure, in a Veterans hospital in Colorado, he is young, and he is saved, yet his wife just abandoned him. Please pray for him, Lord, help him and deal with her and those who hurt him, we ask this of the Father in Your name Lord Jesus, amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with and bless you all, amen.

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."

Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush, Sean and Michael have, they, Rush, Sean and Michael and their audiences need the Lord.

Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.

The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.

It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
