Thank God for Steve,
Are you involved in any kind of Christian ministry? Any kind at all? If not, this thought is not for you. Go back to doing whatever it is that you are doing instead of working for the Lord Jesus. For this thought is only for those who are out there trying to do something for Jesus and is none of the business of those who are sitting on their backsides.
Lord Jesus, I beseech Thee that if any read further, who are sitting on the sidelines doing nothing for You, that You will smite them. For this thought, as You know, is not for them. They already have enough phony excuses for sitting the battle out. I need not give those lazy slugs any more reason to continue in their ungodly, lazy, slothful, ignorant, satan serving ways. And may You do whatever is necessary to prevent them from reading further. For as Elijah looked up to heaven and called down fire upon the ungodly so do I. Amen.
Now, that only those of you are out there doing the work of the Lord Jesus are reading this, let me get back to my question. So, who are you building a kingdom for? Are you building a kingdom and riches for yourself or are you out there fighting for the kingdom of the Lord Jesus?
Why am I asking that you might ask your self. I'm asking because I am getting a little sick and tired of so called Christian books, videos, calendars and toys costing so much more than their secular counterparts.
Why is it that churches have to pay royalties to sing the new Christian songs and hymns? Can't you be content with the royalties you earn form the sale of your overpriced cd's and cassettes? Why is that the most expansive reading materials for kids is labeled Christian and is sold in Christian book stores? Why is that of the top one hundred Christian sites, ChristianPatriot.com is the only one that is not copyrighted and charging money to use material from?
Why is it that of all the Creation sites only Dr. Kent Hovind (drdino.com) allows the free copying of his information? have you ever noticed how he is always first with stuff and then it mystically appears on the copyrighted sites? Why is that there are tons of free sites and shows to get free secular so called counseling help for the raising of children and the such, but not one free site or show where people can go to get free in-depth Christian counseling?
Look, I'm delighted that there are folks out there writing books and music, and making videos for the Christian community. But, why are they so expensive? Why is it that Christian books and videos are so far out of the reach of Christian families? Whose kingdom are you trying to build? God's or your own?
Look at Ephesians 6:12 for a moment, I want to show you something. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Now let's look at something the Lord Jesus, whose kingdom we should be putting first said: No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.(Matthew 6:24 ACP/KJV)
One more than I will connect the dots and make my point, I have taken this from the NKJV:
Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil All the days of her life.
She seeks wool and flax, And willingly works with her hands. She is like the merchant ships, She brings her food from afar. She also rises while it is yet night, And provides food for her household, And a portion for her maidservants.
She considers a field and buys it; From her profits she plants a vineyard. She girds herself with strength, And strengthens her arms. She perceives that her merchandise is good, And her lamp does not go out by night.
She stretches out her hands to the distaff, And her hand holds the spindle. She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household, For all her household is clothed with scarlet.
She makes tapestry for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies sashes for the merchants. Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: (Proverbs 31:10-28 KNJV)
Proverbs 10 describes a woman who is a homemaker, a home schooling mother who cooks for her family and makes her childrens clothing. A woman who can afford to stay home and raise her family n the income of her husband and if a little extra is needed she sells from her garden and earns a little extra money, not by going outside her home to work.
Christian families need to homeschool their children, moms need to be able to stay home and teach their daughters to be Christian wives, they need to be able to teach their daughters to cook from scratch, make clothes, clean house etc. Yet how can she do that if she needs to work outside the home to make financial ends meet.
As Christians there is not much we can do about the Christian families need to pay taxes, pay for food, heat and utilities, but we can help by not charging so much for the things we do and make. Often time the budget busters are the very things the Christian family needs. Things like Christian music, Christian books, Christian videos, Christian entertainment. Yet, it is so much less expensive to buy non-Christian than it is Christian.
I'm not going to tell you what your profit margin should be, I'm not going to tell you that you are making to much money at the expense of Christian families, what I am going to suggest to you is that you look at your own life, your own standard of living and go to the Lord in prayer about it.
But I will say this to you, if you can afford a new SUV or vehicle, you are probably charging to much.
Let me close by saying this. I do appreciate your work, I love having all the great Christian stuff available to read, listen to and view, but, I cannot for the life of me justify the prices I have to pay for these things. Can you?
Lord Jesus, help us focus on building Your kingdom, not ours. Amen.
Oh ya, one last thing, and this part is only for preachers and pastors, when was the last time you turned down a raise? Should you not be leading by example? And a certain scribe came, and said unto Jesus, "Master, I will follow Thee whithersoever Thou goest." And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay His head. Should you be living so much better than He whom you serve lived while He preached here on earth? Which of the Apostles lived half as good as you do? If offered a raise, beyond a certain point, what do you think Paul would have done? How and where did John, the beloved Apostle live?
Paul, in First Corinthians nine tells us: Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. Are you? If we who preach are to ask those who create the materials we use to be a little more sensible in their pricing and standard of living, shouldn't we also? Did Jesus in any of His sayings say "Do as I say, not as I do?" No of course not. So why do we ask folks to give up things yet we live or want to live high on the hog?
Now I can close. Lord Jesus, help us focus on building Your kingdom, not ours. Help us to lead by example? Help us to remember the rich young fool who rejected You for the comforts of this world. Amen.
And, behold, one came and said unto Jesus, "Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?"
And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou Me good? there is none good but One, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
He saith unto Jesus, "Which?" Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
The young man saith unto Jesus, "All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?" Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow Me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
Then said Jesus unto His disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
But, thank God for many of us, Jesus went on and said when asked who then can get into heaven for we are all greedy earthly possession lovers not willing to live as the Lord lived while here on earth. With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
So, you don't have to go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow Me. But, you should be living no better than those you are preaching to. Remember 1 Corinthians 9:14-23? Amen.
Sha'al shalowm Yruwshalaim.
Never ever forget this: There aint no purgatory!

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
