Why is total belief in Genesis 1-7 so all important?

Wednesday October 11nd, 2006

Why is it so important that you accept the account of creation in Genesis as gospel truth? Why is it so absolutely important that you accept and believe with every fiber of your body that God created the universe in six literal 24 hour consecutive days?

On yesterday's show, Rush Limbaugh mentioned a Russian scientist findings that there is a major meteor on the way towards earth and that if it hits, it could cause unbelievable destruction.

North Korea is threatening to start a war. Iran is working on a nuclear device, and may very well already own a few. Iran could easily get one of their satan worshiping homicidal bombers to carry a small nuke in a truck to the Israel border near Jerusalem and detonate it. There is a huge buildup of naval forces, including at least 3 carrier groups off the coast of Lebanon.

What has all that got to do with the account of Creation found in the Bible? Today one would be hard pressed to find any prophecy that has not been fulfilled before the Lord can rapture His bride, us the true Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians.

You would also be hard pressed to find anything in Bible prophecy that foretells of a nuclear war before the Rapture of the church, of a huge war in the middle east before the Lord raptures His church, or of a meteorite strike of any consequence before the Lord raptures His church.

But, what if one or more of those things did happen and the Church of Philadelphia was still here? Let me give you an example. Let's say this Russians scientist's meteorite did hit the earth, and let us say that it hit in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, causing one third of the fish to die, one third of the ships to sink and made the fresh waters of the area to be polluted and bitter, even to the point of causing some to get sick and die.

How long do you think it would take the satan lackeys at abc, cnn, nbc, the new york times and others to point at the Bible and claim that the disaster is proof that the Bible is not reliable? How long do you think it would take for liberal preachers to agree with them and even further ridicule the word of God and His Word?

What could we as believers pin our hopes on? How would we as believers continue to hold fast to the truth of the Bible in the case of such events and attacks.

The answer is found in Genesis, the account of creation. For once you are totally convinced that God did indeed create the heavens and th earth, and all things in them and on them, in six literal and consecutive 24 hour days, then your faith in God can not be shaken regardless of what comes about.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:1 ACP/KJV) RE'SHIYTH 'ELOHIYM BARA' 'ETH SHAMAYIM 'ETH 'ERETS. (Genesis 1:1 Hebrew text)

Over the last few years, more and more has been spoken and written on, about how the end is near. And it may very well be, but then again it may not be. Let's look at a phrase used only three times in the Bible, "a thousand generations".

De 7:6-9 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto Himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The LORD did not set His love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: But because the LORD loved you, and because He would keep the oath which He had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the LORD thy God, He is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love Him and keep His commandments to a thousand generations;

1Ch 16:7-15 Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the LORD into the hand of Asaph and his brethren. "Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon His name, make known His deeds among the people. Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him, talk ye of all His wondrous works. Glory ye in His holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. Seek the LORD and His strength, seek His face continually. Remember His marvellous works that He hath done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth; O ye seed of Israel His servant, ye children of Jacob, His chosen ones. He is the LORD our God; His judgments are in all the earth. Be ye mindful always of His covenant; the word which He commanded to a thousand generations;

Ps 105:8&9 He hath remembered His covenant for ever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations. Which covenant He made with Abraham, and His oath unto Isaac;

Now, notice the term 1000 generations. A generation in the Bible is, as best we understand, a minimum of 20 years. It can also be 40, 50, 70 or even 100 years. That would mean, a minimum of 20,000 years. Does that mean that the Lord is not going to rapture His bride till 1,000 generations have past? I don't know, I don't even know when this 1,000 generations started. Could there have been generations before the fall of man 6,418 years ago? Maybe, there does not have to be death for there to be generations. I know many families where there are three, four and even five generations alive right now.

So, what has all this got to do with your having a foundational, solid, unshakable faith in the Genesis account of creation?

A little more Scripture and then I'll try to connect the dots for you. Let's start with a little about the great deceiver, the father of all liars, the devil.

Now the serpent was more subtil (`aruwm, cunning (usually in a bad sense):--crafty, prudent, subtil.) than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, "Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?" And the woman said unto the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die." And the serpent said unto the woman, "Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."

Notice how the very word of God warns us that the devil is the most cunning, crafty, prudent and subtil of all of His creations. The devil, satan, is not without the power to deceive. Remember how he tried to twist Scripture to deceive and corrupt Jesus:

1 And Jesus, being full of the Holy Ghost, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 being forty days tempted of(by) the devil. And in those (40) days He did eat nothing: and when they were ended, He afterward hungered.

3 And the devil said unto Him, "If Thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread." 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

5 And the devil, taking Him up into an high mountain, shewed unto Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6&7 And the devil said unto Him, "All this power will I give Thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If Thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be Thine." 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind Me, satan: for it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.

9 And he brought Him to Jerusalem, and set Him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto Him, "If Thou be the Son of God, cast Thyself down from hence: 10 For it is written, He shall give His angels charge over Thee, to keep Thee: 11 And in their hands they shall bear Thee up, lest at any time Thou dash Thy foot against a stone." 12 And Jesus answering said unto him, it is said, thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from Him for a season (awhile). (Luke 4:1-13 ACP/KJV)

There is a fundamental difference in the results of satan's encounter with Eve and Jesus. Eve did no know Scripture exactly, and she fell. Jesus knew Scripture exactly and satan fell.

Now I want you to look at a little more of Scripture and then I'll wrap this up.

And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, "I have gotten a man from the LORD." And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof.

And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering He had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

7. If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. (Genesis 4:1-7 ACP/KJV) Let's look carefully at the last verse, verse 7 ...if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. I want you to look at that part of the verse carefully, for what God is telling Cain is this: Look Cain, if you sacrifice properly, your sacrifice will be accepted, but if you don't sacrifice what is right, sin lies at your door, but, you can overcome sin, you can overrule it and its consequences. The phrase rule over it, is made up of this Hebrew word for rule; mashal, which means (have, make to have) dominion, governorship, reign, (bear, cause to, have) rule(-ing, -r), have power. In other words, sin does not have to rule over it, you can rule over it.

So, what has all this to do with having a rock solid, unshakable belief in "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:1 ACP/KJV)"

No matter how world events unravel, no matter what happens, as long as we understand that God created the universe, that He is smarter than us, that He need not give us His time frame, that He is God and we are but the creation of His hands, then all is well with our soul for we are unshakable in our Christian faith.

Satan can not deceive you, he can not convince you that God does not exist or that he is God's equal as long as you are solid in your belief that In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:1 ACP/KJV).

All of satan's lies hinge on people having doubts of what God has said. If the devil can get you or anyone believing that God did not create the world, than he can get you to believe anything. Even that a baby in the womb is nothing more than a glob.

Since satan has convinced so many that it is not wrong to kill the baby in the womb, how hard will it be for him to shake the faith of the weak if he can convince them, through the media, that the Bible is incorrect. What if we have a war in the Middle East or if a huge meteorite hits the earth causing what is predicted in Revelation 8: 8-11 (And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.) to happen before we are Raptured.

If your faith is built upon the rock solid foundation of believing everything in the Bible, beginning with the fact that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth., and you understand that as a creation, God the Creator is under no obligation to tell us everything He is going to do or allows to be done, then God is under no obligation to let us know His time frame. He has told us that there is going to be 1,000 generations. Our not having unraveled from His word when that 1,000 generations started or for that matter even how long one of those generations is, is not His problem. It is ours. It does not alter the fact that He is God and we are His creations.

But these two things you can and must totally believe. First God is real, He is our owner, creator and master. And second is this, satan will do everything in his power to shake our faith in the first and prevent others from coming to understand and believe it.

I have much more to say on this, but, it is getting late and I am into page five so I'll end for now. But guys, regardless of what happens don't ever forget God is in control, and that satan is but a creation.

Lord Jesus, help us, help our unbelief Lord, help us Lord to obtain faith of a mustard seed. Thank You Jesus. Amen.

Sha'al shalowm Yruwshalaim.

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
