Today's Christian thought: Tuesday October 21st, 2003
Well, it won't be long till it is Tuesday November 4th, 2003, the day we go and vote. Now, while this is what is commonly called an off election year, this is a year where Maine's ballot is loaded with stuff, most of which has to deal with no brainer issues.
We have a tax issue to vote on, 1a, 1b, or 1c. Now, 1a is sponsored and supported by local politicians, town managers, boards of selectmen, the guys and gals that we vent our rage on. 1b is sponsored by the hacks in Augusta, the state reps and senators that are being groomed by their respective parties for the big times in Washington. They are the ones learning to speak out of all four corners of their mouth at the same time and lie with a smile and a straight face. 1c is brought to you by the crowd that says, "Do nothing, trust us, we will eventually come up with something." So, it takes very little common sense or reasoning to know that the guys and gals sponsoring 1a are probably the ones to distrust the least, so a vote for 1a is the thing to do, a no brainer.
Then we have the gambling issues. For Bible believing and reading Christians this is a simple and effective no all the way through. No to the casino and no to the other pro family destroying pro-gambling issues as well. Why you ask? In Acts chapter one we see Peter and the other ten apostles casting lots, throwing dice so to speak, to pick a replacement for Judas Iscariot the traitor. They had two names, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. Now when they had tossed their dice, and the lot fell upon Matthias. So the Apostles rubbed their hands together and said, "there we are now twelve again." After all, for years that is the way things were done, the high priest cast lots and God controlled the dice and that is how things of the Lord were often choosen. But, in 33AD that changed, for God rejected Matthias and as we read in Acts Chapter nine, choose Saul who was to be renamed Paul, the second greatest evangelist to ever walk the face of the earth, the Lord Jesus being first.
So this year's off year ballot is a no brainer, 1a on the taxes, no on the gambling, no on the bonds, and blank everything you don't understand or offices where you don't know any of the candidates. But what this off year election does do is start you thinking about the importance of next years elections, for while I have been a supporter of Mike Michaud in the past, since he was while a State Rep solidly pro-life, it seems that Mike is now more interested in serving Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank, the two leaders of the extreme left wing of the democratic party, then the people of Maine. This has forced me to think that if Mike is not willing to vote for his constituents instead of the leftist agenda, it may be time to replace Mike with a guy named Mendros in Lewiston.
Why have I had to rethink my support of Mike? Well, every poll taken in Northen Maine, the Second Congressional district, has shown that people overwhelmingly support marriage as being defined as between one man and one woman. There is a bill before Congress H. J. RES. 56, that clearly states this, it reads: "Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution or the constitution of any State, nor state or federal law, shall be construed to require that marital status or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon unmarried couples or groups.'." H. J. RES. 56 currently has over 95 co sponsors, yet Mike, has refused to sign onto it. And after numerous calls to his office and several e-mails, he has not only refused to co-sponsor it, he has refused to even say how he will vote on it. Mike seems more interested in obeying the demands and commands of the extreme left wing house minority leaders Barney Frank of Massachusetts and Nancy Pelosi of California, than the people of the Second Congressional district of Maine.
Before we decided to fire Mike and maybe hire Stavros J. Mendros, let us try to convince Mike to represent us instead of Nancy Pelosi. You can reach Mike at: (202) 225-6306. Remember, to consider firing a Congressman is to important an issue to speak to an aid, when you call, if Mike isn't in, tell the aid to have him call you. When Mike calls you back, just ask him why he is not supporting a amendment to the US Constitution guaranteeing that Marriage will only be between one man and one woman in the USA. Keep in mind, Mike works for you, you pay him over $130,000. Dollars a year to be, not your leader, but your Representative in Congress. He is your employee, if he won't talk to you, well, that in itself may speak volumes.
The Lord be with us all, so be it.
The Lord be with and bless you all and may you all keep this very important point in mind. It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
Lord I would also ask You to be with my friend Mac, and for the salvation of Michael Savage and Rush Limbaugh. Amen.
All Scripture is quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
