Moderation is slipping in to all facets of our lives, but into the lives of churches more than ever. Pastors, elders, and members often do not want to offend anyone and so moderate all parts into what could reasonably be called a para-church. What is "para" as it relates to church? Para according to the dictionary residing on my desk is: "Resembling, similar to." So what we have is something that is resembling church. I have done some internet searching and come up with what I reasonably think worshipers of Christ should expect from the church.
First and foremost. The foundation of church must be the living Lord, Jesus Christ. Christ must be the center of the fellowship. Ephesians 2:19-22 (KJV)
19: Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints,
and of the household of God;
20: And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21: In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
Second the Word of God must be used for all guidance within the body. Throw out anything that is not of the Word. The church must be united in the love that we are commanded to participate in. 2 Timothy 3:16 (KJV)
16: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
and John 15:12 (KJV)
12: This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
and 15:17-23 (KJV)
17: These things I command you, that ye love one another.
18: If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19: If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20: Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
21: But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
22: If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.
23: He that hateth me hateth my Father also.
The leaders of the body must be godly men who are immersed in Scripture in all aspects of their daily lives. Notice I did NOT say women! Read what is directed on this topic in 1 Timothy 3:1- 16 (KJV)
1: This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
2: A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3: Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
4: One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5: (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
6: Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7: Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8: Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
9: Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10: And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
11: Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
12: Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
13: For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
14: These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
15: But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
16: And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
and in Titus 1:5-9 (KJV)
5: For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting,
and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
6: If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
7: For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
8: But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
9: Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
The church must adhere to the ordnances Christ gave concerning baptism and partaking of the Lord's Supper. There is no if's, and's or but's about it. 1 Corinthians 11:24-25 (KJV)
23: For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the
same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
and Matthew 28:19 (KJV)
19: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
are very specific when it comes to these parts of a church.
The church must practice worship, ministry and teaching the Word. These are basic to worship. 1 John 1:6-7 (KJV)
6: If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Acts 2:42 (KJV)
42: And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
and 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 (KJV)
4: Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
5: And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
6: And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
7: But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
Too many main stream churches have lost touch with the reality of what the tenants I have listed. They are trying to reach everyone, no matter how much they compromise the Word of God in doing so. Look at the number of denominations that do not condemn abortion. How about the ordination of homosexuals as pastors? Do you want to listen to what we used to call "queers" preaching from the pulpit? Now the PC crowd calls them "gay" as if they are happy. Let me tell them one thing, there is nothing "gay" about where they will be spending eternity. If you are a member of such a denomination you should leave now. Do not be so foolish as to think you can stay and make a difference, that is exactly what satan wants. He is wily and crafty beyond our imagination and once you are in a situation where he can whisper in your ear, he has you exactly where he wants you, and the next thing you know you will be talking about "gays" in worship, or that "so and so" had an abortion because the baby might have a slight birth defect and that it will be better for her mental state not to deal with the birth.
What is listed here is simple to follow. When you are at worship this weekend, look around you, listen to the pastor, see what the guiding principles are for the church, and if they vary from what is listed - run. Find your family a church where Christ is the center and enjoy being in his company at all times. Amen.
The Lord be with and bless you all and please keep me, Jim, Steve, Channing and Cecily in your prayers. They are the working backbone of Christianpatriot.com. Amen.

May the Lord understand the importance of Mac, Cecily, Steve, and Rev. Jim Marstaller to this ministry. Lord I need them both healthy and able to continue to hold up their ends. Lord this cancer of Mac's is starting to get in the way, this ministry needs him whole, just a thought Lord, is all it will take, just a thought on Your part.
There is a young man, a veteran who suffers from some kind of chemical weapon exposure, in a Veterans hospital in Colorado, he is young, and he is Saved, yet his wife just abandoned him. Please pray for him, Lord, help him and deal with her and those who hurt him, we ask this of the Father in Your name Lord Jesus, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with and bless you all, amen.
The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
