But, before we get into Luke Chapter ten, I do want to remind you of a little conversation that took place 1,971 years ago between the Lord Jesus and satan. I think it will help you to understand how it is that a Kerry can be elected President of these United States.
Luke Chapter Four
1 And Jesus, being full of the Holy Ghost, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 being forty days tempted of(by) the devil. And in those (40) days He did eat nothing: and when they were ended, He afterward hungered.
3 And the devil said unto Him, "If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread." 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
5 And the devil, taking Him up into an high mountain, shewed unto Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6&7 And the devil said unto Him, "All this power will I give Thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If Thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be Thine." 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind Me, satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve. (Luke 4:1-8 ACP/KJV) Pay particular attention to verses 5, 6,7&8. Notice Jesus did not accuse satan of lying, so, pretty much you can understand that other than when God interferes, satan gets to choose the world leaders. From Job chapter one, we learn that Go can and does at times restrict satan, but, if Kerry is elected, you can rest assure that it will not be the end of the world.
Now let us put politics aside for a bit and turn to God's word.
Luke Chapter Ten
1 After these things the Lord appointed another seventy also, and sent them two and two before His face into every city and place, whither He himself would come. Notice that the Lord sent evangelical teams out two together, not individually. It is always best to have two or more go out evangelizing at a time. That is not to say that you shouldn't evangelize at every opportunity, even when you are alone, but, with another solid Christian, it does get easier. Try this. Take another solid Christian with you, go to a coffee shop, and as the two of you sit there having a cup of coffee, start having a discussion about Salvation by Grace and not works. People will listen in on your conversation they will eavesdrop .
2 Therefore said He unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He would send forth labourers into His harvest. 3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. 4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way. Other than verse four, today is the same, for the harvest is truly great and we o need to pray to god that He would send more to evangelize, more to water and harvest the seeds we plant.
5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, 'Peace be to this house.' 6 And if the Son of Peace(the Holy Spirit) be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. 7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: 9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, 'The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.' 10 But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say, 11 'even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.' When you are evangelizing, don't beat your head against a wall, don't ague, don't fight. When someone ask you to leave, leave. When they fight with you, swear at you, leave. Let God deal with them.
12 But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city. 13 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you. 15 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.
16 He that heareth you heareth Me; and he that despiseth you despiseth Me; and he that despiseth Me despiseth Him that sent Me. This verse is oh so important to all who evangelize in any way shape or form. Those that despise you are not despising you, but God. Don't get mad at them, feel sorry for them, for it is Jesus that they really hate.
17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, "Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through Thy name."
18 And He said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Jesus saw satan cast out of heaven, not gently, but violently, thrown out at a speed and with the velocity of lightening.
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. At the end of Mark we read more on this, how when one is doing God's work, if satan, thru one of his minions, tries to hurt you, poison you, or have a snake bite you, that poison may not always work, for God can and in some cases does intervene to protect you because you are not done doing what He has for you to do. But, don't glory in that, glory instead in the fact that you are Saved and that by the cleansing Blood of Jesus you are His.
21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank Thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that Thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in Thy sight. 22 All things are delivered to Me of My Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal Him. I know a fifteen year old boy named Ben, and a seventeen year old boy named Dusty. Both of those yong men have neither master degree nor PhD yet both of them are ever so much wiser in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus than any medical doctor I know, wiser than any Chiropractor I know, wiser than any professor in any college I have ever met. For the Son has introduce both of them to the Father and the Father has adopted both of them.
23 And He turned Him unto His disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see: 24 For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. Do you not think that any of the prophets of the Old Testament would not have given their eyes, their hands, their very lives to be able to read the very Bible that so many here in the USA use as a dust gathering device?
25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted Him, saying, "Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" 26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? 27 And he answering said, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself." 28 And He said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. Do you love God with every fiber of your body? do you give a hoot about your neighbors?
29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, "And who is my neighbour?" 30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, 34 and went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, 'Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.' 36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? 37 And he said, "He that shewed mercy on him." Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise. Would you do as the Samaritan did? Would you help a stranger? Yes? Ok, take 1/30th of this months food budget, and out of it buy one loaf of day old bread, take the rest and give it to someone in need and you eat day old bread and water for the day.
38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. Is hearing the Word of God more important to you than dinner? More important than watching the World Series? More important to you than worrying about the election? (Luke 10:1-42 ACP/KJV)
We, who are Saved, are not residents of this earth, we are visitors, our home is with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Let us be interested in serving our King, Christ Jesus, not these earthly kings. Let us abide by the rules here, as long as those rules do not violate God's rules. But let us focus on eternity with God not a few more years here serving men.
The Lord be with us all. Amen.
May the Lord understand the importance of Mac and Cecily to this ministry. Lord I need them both healthy and able to continue to hold up their ends. Lord this cancer of Mac's is starting to get in the way, this ministry needs him whole, just a thought Lord, is all it will take, just a thought on Your part.
There is a young man, a veteran who suffers from some kind of chemical weapon exposure, in a Veterans hospital in Colorado, he is young, and he is saved, yet his wife just abandoned him. Please pray for him, Lord, help him and deal with her and those who hurt him, we ask this of the Father in Your name Lord Jesus, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with and bless you all, amen.
The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
