Roman Catholics, think they are Christians, because, they claim to believe in Jesus, but alas, even the devils believe in the Lord Jesus, how could anyone not believe that Jesus walked the earth, He is the most written about and documented man, if it be legal to call Him a man since He is God, ever to walk the face of the planet.
So, let us lay out a plan to not embarrass or harass Roman Catholics, but instead to let them lead themselves, with the help of the Holy Spirit and the written word of God, the Holy Bible into accepting Christ as their own personal Lord and Saviour.
Ready? Ok, here we go. Let us say that I'm talking to a Roman Catholic by the name of David, this is how I would lead him through Scripture to the Lord.
Me: "So, David, as a Roman Catholic, are you a Born Again, or Born Anew Christian?"
David: "Nope, I'm a Catholic, so I know I'm going to heaven!"
Me: "But, you're not Born Again or Born Anew?"
Me: "Dave, would you do me a favor? Take this Bible and open it to John chapter Three."
David: "OK." Note: it is very seldom that the Roman Catholic you're talking to will refuse to take and read from the bible. Since the Roman Catholic church discourages their doing so, they seem to have a real underlying desire to take one in their hands and read it. Because they are not very familiar with the bible, you may have to help them find the chapters you direct them to, not by taking the bible and not by reaching over, but instead by looking over, seeing where they are and then telling them to move forward or backwards about # of pages. It is best to use the King James Version, although here we will be using the American Standard version.
David: "John chapter three? OK, I've got it."
Me: "Now Dave, read to me verses one and two."
David: "Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: the same came unto Him by night, and said to Him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that Thou doest, except God be with him."
Me: "Now, Dave, what does that mean?"
Dave: "Well, it would seem to me that it means that a high ranking politician of the jews came to see Jesus one night and knew that Jesus was someone high in God's chain of command because he knew that no one could do the things Jesus was doing without God's help."
Me: "Good, now read just verse three, bear in mind, those words you see written in red, they are
words spoken directly by Jesus, and as a Roman Catholic, you have been taught, rightfully so, that
Jesus and God the Father are one."
David: "Verse three, hmm, Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
Me: "Now Dave, read it again, but this time make it sound as if instead of talking to Nicodemus
almost 2,000 years ago, the Lord were talking to you today."
David: "Ok, Jesus answered David and said to him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee David, Except you are born anew, you, David cannot see the kingdom of God."
Me: "David, the words you just read are in red, so let me ask you this, who spoke them and what do
David: "Jesus, spoke them and I guess what He is saying is that unless one is Born Anew, they can not see the kingdom of God."
Me: "What do you figure the kingdom of God is?"
Me: "Right, now, since you are not Born Again, how do you figure you're going to get into heaven?
I'm assuming you would rather not spend eternity in damnation in the lake of fire with satan".
David: "Well, I live a good life and do what the Ten Commandments tell us to do."
Me: "Dave, turn in your bible to the book of Exodus, it is way in the front of your bible, right after
the book of Genesis. And turn to chapter twenty." Notice the "your" I have just given this bible to David, it
is his too keep.
David: "Exodus, in the front, ok, I've got it, chapter twenty, um, the heading says ''the Ten Commandments'."
Me: "Right, now Dave, read to me, verses 1-6."
David: "Verses 1-6, ok, And God spake all these words, saying, I am Jehovah thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.
Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any likeness [of any thing] that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them, for I Jehovah thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of them that hate Me, and showing lovingkindness unto thousands of them that love Me and keep My commandments."
Me: "Dave, Now this is going to sound harsh to you, but remember, you are reading from the bible,
these are not my words nor my opinions, they are the words of God. Dave, what do verses 1-6, the
first of the ten commandments given to Moses by God Himself mean to you?"
David: "It means that there is only one God, and we are to make no images of anything, man, beast, trees, nothing that bow down to and pray to."
Me: "Dave, tell me about the stations of the cross. Does your church have statues of saints in it? Do
you kneel down and pray to those saints?"
Me: "David, read verses five and six to me again."
David: " Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them, for I Jehovah thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of them that hate Me, and showing lovingkindness unto thousands of them that love Me and keep My commandments."
Me: "David, when you pray to statues, what does God say He will do, not only to you, but your
children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren?"
David: "..." Very seldom will anyone say anything here, now there is a battle raging within your Roman Catholic friend.
Note: David is just starting to realize the implication, in God's eyes, to not only himself, but his children, grand children and even his great grand children because of Dave's idolatry of statues, statues of Mary, Joseph, man appointed saitns and even statues of Jesus Himself.
Me: Dave, would you read Exodus 20:7 please.
David: "Thou shalt not take the name of Jehovah thy God in vain; for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain."
Me: What do you figure God means by that Dave?
David: Kind of simple really, God does not take kindly to anyone using His name incorrectly.
Me: Right, but have you ever thought about what constituents taking God's name in vain?
Dave: No, I don't think so.
Me: Dave have you ever used "x-mas" instead of "CHRISTmas"? Have you ever said the Lords name in anger when you hit your finger with a hammer? Have you ever called on God to curse someone or something by asking Him to damn someone or something? Have you ever used something other than His name like ''gosh darn"? David, those are all examples of using God's name in vain, they are all examples of breaking this the third of God's ten commandments.
Dave: Yes, I have.
Me: Dave, read verses 8 thru 11.
Dave: "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work; but the seventh day is a sabbath unto Jehovah thy God: [on it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy man-servant, nor thy maid-servant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is,
and rested the seventh day: wherefore Jehovah blessed the sabbath day, and
Me: Well, Dave what do you think, you safe on that one?
David: No, I have worked on Sundays and I have skipped church on Sundays and I've caused others to do the same, never thought taking the kids camping or to the beach on Sunday was such a problem.
Me: Let's try God's fifth commandment, may I borrow your bible and read verse 12 to you? "
Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long in the land which
Jehovah thy God giveth thee." Dave, you seem to be a pretty decent sort of guy, you must
have been a pretty good kid growing up, you never lied to your parents or snuck out at night after
you were supposed to be in bed, or lied about a girl or where you were going or anything did you?
David: Yes, I'm afraid I did.
Me: David, again, I am not trying to sound mean, but my friend if you are betting your salvation on
doing what is right in God's eyes and working or earning your way in to heaven by keeping His ten
commandments, you are now batting one 100%. But Dave that is 100% in breaking His
commandments. How many you figure you have to keep to get into heaven?
David: Sure, I'm not perfect, but neither is anyone else, I'm sure you must have broken one or two of the ten commandments at one time or another in your life.
Me: Your right Dave, not only have I in the past, but I'm sure I will in the future. But Dave, I'm not
betting my salvation on working my way into heaven nor earning my way into heaven, remember,
I am a Born Again Christian. Let's go back to John chapter three for a while. Turn back to John 3:3
David: "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
Me: Now Dave, read verses 14-18, read them slow and think about what Jesus is telling us here.
David: "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up; so that whosoever believeth may in Him have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish, but have eternal life. God sent not the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through Him. He that believeth on Him is not judged: he that believeth not hath been judged already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God."
Me: David, I'm not trying to earn my way into heaven, I have simply done what Jesus has told all of us that want to guarantee our future in heaven for all eternity, to do. I have trusted in Him, and been Born Again. Rather than try to live a perfect life, which is literally impossible, I have simply done what the Lord has told us to do, "...as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up; so that whosoever believeth may in Him have eternal life."
Jesus was crucified to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins, all one must do to be forgiven of his or her sins and to guarantee their place in His Book of Life and in heaven is to be Born Again, to do as the thief on the cross did. Dave, go back in your bible about two pages or so into Luke 23 and read verses 36-43. Keep in mind, what you are about to read happened while Jesus was hanging from that cross with two criminals, one on His right and one on His left, the one on the left speaks first and then the one on His right.
David: Luke 23 verses 36-43?
Me: Yes, please.
David: " And the soldiers also mocked Him, coming to Him, offering Him vinegar, and saying, If thou art the King of the Jews, save thyself. And there was also a superscription over Him, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. And one of the malefactors that were hanged railed on Him, saying, Art not Thou the Christ? save Thyself and us.
But the other answered, and rebuking him said, Dost thou not even fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said, Jesus, remember me when Thou comest in Thy kingdom. And He(Jesus) said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To-day shalt thou be with Me in Paradise."
Me: David, do you see where the second thief came to the Lord's defense? Do you see where he acknowledges that Jesus is God, by saying "Dost thou not even fear God" and recognized that Jesus was not going to rot in a grave, but would instead go straight to heaven a heaven that was His "remember me when thou comest in Thy kingdom"? Do you see where he confessed that he was a sinner worthy of punishment, while at the same time declaring the Jesus lead a perfect and sinless life "And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this Man hath done nothing amiss."?
This criminal has acknowledged Jesus as God and also ask Jesus to let him serve Him for all eternity by saying "And he said, 'Jesus, remember me when Thou comest in Thy kingdom.'" Dave, Jesus didn't turn to this criminal and say, "say five Our Fathers, ten Hail Mary's and two stations of the cross? No, He said "Verily I say unto thee, To-day shalt thou be with me in Paradise."
From this point on a number of different things happen, sometimes, the person is ready to accept Christ at this point at others you need to go to Paul's teachings about being Born Again and how step by step, in still other cases, the person will simply want to think, pray or walk away. Regardless of what happens here, at this point it is time for you to take a break and do some serious praying, for here and now is when you desperately need the help of the Holy Spirit of God. So, if the person is not ready to admit Jesus into their heart and be Born Again, then I say, "Take a minute to think about what you have just read while I take a moment to thank God for this opportunity and pray."
Father in heaven help us to do what is right in Your sight, but more do I thank thee for coming to earth as Jesus and shedding Your blood so that i would not have to try to life a perfect and sinless life, but instead, like the criminal on the cross could just come to You ask your forgiveness and acceptance and be Born Again, a fresh start with a forgotten past. Not a forgotten past because You can't remember, but a forgotten past because You choose not to remember. Thank you Lord God for all You have done for me and mine, please help me to be a blessing to someone this day and to have the opportunity to share Your love with one or two today having the opportunity to show them in Your word how they too can assure themselves of eternal bliss and not eternal damnation.
In the name of Yeshua I pray to Jehovah Father, through the Sprit of God that dwells within me.
God blessed America when she feared Him, now it appears, she may face His wrath.

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
