Now, let us get into meat, no milk toast today, real aged red meat.
Luke Chapter Sixteen
1 And Jesus said also unto His disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. 2 And he called him, and said unto him, 'How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.' Now in this particular parable, Jesus is not referring to God as the rich man, no, the rich man is just that, a rich secular man. His steward would be the overall general manager who oversees all of his holdings. The CEO so to speak. Now, the rich man calls the steward in and tells him that he has done an audit and has found that the steward is probably stealing. And that he wants the steward to explain. And if that explanation is not satisfactory, he will be fired and from his retirement and other compensation plans will be taken that which is missing, therefore leaving the steward flat broke and destitute.
3 Then the steward said within himself, 'What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed. 4 I am resolved(I have decided) what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they(those who he helps cheat his master in verses 5-7) may receive me into their houses.' Now, we see this steward thinking to himself, I am too proud and too good to get out there and work with my hands, and to go on welfare and to ask others for financial help is below my station in life, for what will my neighbors and family think. I know what I'll do, I'll make friends of my master's debtors so that they will be indebted to me and take care of me when I am cast out.
5 So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, 'How much owest thou unto my lord?' 6 And he said, 'a hundred measures of oil.' And he said unto him, 'Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.' 7 Then said he to another, 'And how much owest thou?' And he said, 'A hundred measures of wheat.' And he said unto him, 'Take thy bill, and write fourscore.' So, he cheats his master out of more money, making friends of those who he lets cheat his master.
8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world(those who worship satan) are in their generation wiser than the children of Light(Children of God, bothers and sister of the Christ).
Now, notice how his master, now congratulates the steward for being so sneaky and crooked. This is because men and women who serve satan do not think as you and I who serve Christ do. While we think it good to be chaste and modest, the world thinks in terms of it is good to make money as a porno star, it is good to show your belly button and the crack of your butt to the whole world. The world promotes and rewards those who lie and steal, cheat and falsely accuse. You doubt that? Look at John Kerry. Was he not rewarded? Has he not built a career in politics on lies and acts of treason? Are not the singer Madonna and Hillary Clinton among the most revered by society? Do you need more examples? How about Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter? Where they not all anointed by their people as leaders?
For those who serve satan are wiser of what the world considers right and than those of us who serve Christ.
9 And I say unto you; Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. 10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. 11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12 And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own? Now here is where we get into a very confusing segment, for it appears in verse 9 that Jesus is telling us to make friends of those who serve satan. So that if we have financial or other difficulties we can go to them for help. But, is that what He is saying? Look at the context. In a moment we are going back to genesis, but first I want to set the stage for you.
We must always trust God, and we must also realize that we live in a corrupt world with a very corrupt government and society. So at times, we must go along in a manner in order to get along. Look at Abraham and Sara:
Genesis Chapter Twenty
1 And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. 2 And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, "She is my sister": and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. 3 But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife.
4 But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, "Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? 5 Said he not unto me, 'She is my sister'? and she, even she herself said, 'He is my brother': in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this."
6 And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against Me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. 7 Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.
8 Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid. 9 Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, "What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done." 10 And Abimelech said unto Abraham, "What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?"
11 And Abraham said, "Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake. 12 And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife. 13 And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her, 'This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.'"
14 And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife. 15 And Abimelech said, "Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee." 16 And unto Sarah he said, "Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other": thus she was reproved.
17 So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children. 18 For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife. (Genesis 20:1-17 ACP/KJV)
So there are times when we, as visitors and sojourners on earth, must simply trust in God while we work within the framework of lies and deceit which is today's society. But, notice, how even though Abraham lied, he did not really lie, but more stretched the truth than anything, for Sara was indeed his half sister. As we approach closer and closer to the end, society is going to become more and more corrupt, more and more accepting of the opposite of God's rules. More accepting of promiscuality, homosexuality, lies, corruption and the John Kerry's, Olympia Snowe's, abortionists and Dr. Kevorkians of the world. While at the same time becoming more and more hostile to Christ and true Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians.
And while Christians will have to work within the framework of society, and we must understand that the world understands and honors it's own, we must never ever loose sight of two things, first God is in control and as such we must trust in Him and second, verse 13 below.
13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. While we can work within and live within the world, we must never ever forget whose we are. For we can not serve the prince of this wold and Christ at the same time. It is impossible because Jesus has told us it is impossible. Therefore as we go through our daily lives within the world, we must keep in mind that regardless of what we do, we will be forgiven if first we are in fact true Born Again Washed in th Blood of the Lamb Christians and second if we are faithful to Him and repent of our sins asking Him for forgiveness, for: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 ACP/KJV)
14 And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided Him. 15 And He said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. 16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. 17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle(one dot, comma, word, sentence, anything) of the law to fail. 18 Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.
Jesus has told us in Matthew 5:27&28 "Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." This simply means that you do not need to commit the act of adultery to be guilty of it. If you look at another of the opposite sex and think about doing anything sexual with that person, you have committed adultery. And so it is with the Word of God. Jesus tells us that nothing is to be ignored in Holy Scripture. All things in Scripture are to be obeyed, till every last thing prophesied in the Scriptures is fulfilled. The religious leaders of the day were covetous, that means they wanted bigger and better earthly office, goods, wives, etc. This envy, this wanting of things, this covetous, is idolatry. It is putting things ahead of God.
He tells us that outward signs are not enough, for God knows our hearts. And that is what those in command, who are truly Saved, must focus on. Are you in it for a promotion? Are you in it for glory? Or are you in it to get the job done with as little loss as possible to you men? God knows if in your heart you are a George Washington or a John Kerry.
19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.'
25 But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.'
27 Then he said, 'I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.' 29 Abraham saith unto him, 'They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.' 30 And he said, 'Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.' 31 And he said unto him, 'If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though One (Jesus) rose (rises) from the dead.' (Luke 16:1-31 ACP/KJV)
We finish today's thought with the simple truth that there is no purgatory, there is but life eternal in paradise and life eternal in the lake of fire, the lake of torment. Those who put their trust in the things of this world, the riches of this world, are destined for eternity in the lake of fire, torment for all eternity. Those who put their faith in Christ are destined for life eternal in paradise. For verses 19-31 expand upon verse 13.
As we approach Veteran's Day, I wish to convey one message to all who serve in command of even one other. Do all things not for your own glory, not for your own promotion, do all things for God, do all things knowing that you and the men under you, have one Master. You have either one who is your Master or your master, Christ or satan. I pray you have chosen Christ, but you can not lie to God, you can not deceive God, for God reads and sees the heart.
The Lord be with you all and keep you all safe.
May the Lord understand the importance of Mac and Cecily to this ministry. Lord I need them both healthy and able to continue to hold up their ends. Lord this cancer of Mac's is starting to get in the way, this ministry needs him whole, just a thought Lord, is all it will take, just a thought on Your part.
There is a young man, a veteran who suffers from some kind of chemical weapon exposure, in a Veterans hospital in Colorado, he is young, and he is saved, yet his wife just abandoned him. Please pray for him, Lord, help him and deal with her and those who hurt him, we ask this of the Father in Your name Lord Jesus, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with and bless you all, amen.
The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
