The Maltese barbarians of 57 AD were smarter than any on the US Supreme Court today.

Wednesday November 15th, 2006

The Maltese barbarians of 57 AD were smarter than any member of the US Supreme Court today, any member of the US Congress today and most of today's preachers. And most of them were smarter than those who say "What would Jesus do?" or compare themselves to our Lord Jesus.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people actually compare themselves to our Lord. I can only shake my head in bewilderment as I see folks honestly ponder the question, "What would Jesus do?", as if they could emulate what the Lord would do. For when one compares himself to the Lord or asks himself before making a decision on what they should say or do, "What would Jesus do?" as if they could simply, by asking themselves what he would do what He would do.

Let em give you an example of how absolutely foolish that is. Let's say you have been called to a friends home to sit with them as their young daughter dies. As you sit there you ponder the question, "What would Jesus do?" as you try to decide what you should do. Well, the Bible teaches us very clearly what Jesus did, so go ahead, ole one who makes himself equal to the Lord God of Creation, just do what Jesus did when He was faced with the same dilemma.

...there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought Him that He would come into his house: For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. And while Jesus yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, Jairus, thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master."

But when Jesus heard it, He said to Jairus, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.

And when Jesus and those with Him came into the house, He allowed no man to go in, except Peter, and James, John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. And all wept, and bewailed her: but Jesus said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth.

And they laughed at Jesus, scorning Him, for they knew that she was dead. So, Jesus put them all out, took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and Jesus commanded to give her meat.

So, you who dares to make himself equal with God, go ahead, stop pondering, I have told you what Jesus not only would do but what He did in that set of circumstances. Go ahead take the young girl by the hand and command her to come to life.

How about you, instead of wondering what Jesus would do about world wide hunger or even hunger in your own town, just do what Jesus did, take a handful of crumbs and multiply it so that you can feed the whole town, city, state, hey why stop there, how about feeding the world.

To compare yourself to Jesus, by asking yourself what Jesus would do, as if you could emulate His actions, is not only foolish, it is down right blasphemous. To make my point, let's just look at one other thing Jesus did and then something He is going to do.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Have at it dude, let's see you match that. Go on out and, starting with nothing, nothing at all, create the heavens and the earth. Ah, don't forget to bring your own dirt.

Ok, so that might be a bit much for you, well, there is an unfulfilled prophecy concerning Israel that I'm sure Israel could really appreciate happening at this time, so in order to help Israel shy not just jump in and do what Jesus is going to do. For after all, if you are so equal to Him that you can compare yourself to Him, why not just jump the gun a bit and show Jesus just how equal you are by fulfilling one of the prophecies He is going to do later on? You could save Him the trouble, for prophecy tells us what Jesus will do.

And Ezekiel said, The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, and caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. And Jesus said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, "Thou knowest."

Again Jesus said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army. (Ezekiel 37:1-6 & 10b ACP/KJV working)

Stop mistakenly falling for the slick marketing of bracelets, cards and things promoting that you first ponder "What would Jesus do?" before taking an action. Instead read your Bible and try to emulate those men and women in the Bible whose lives we so worth mentioning that God uses them as examples of how His creations are to do things. Work towards being smarter than judges, congressmen, senators and others who act as if they know what God really meant to say and do and have us live our lives.

In Genesis 9, verses 5 and 6, God very clearly tells us that when a murder takes place that murderer is to be executed. And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man. Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made He man.

Yet our courts and law makers continue to ignore God's words and turn murders loose after they pay their debt to society by paying, not with their life, but with a number of years of their life separated from the general populace.

The barbarians of Malta in 57 AD knew better:

And when Paul and all those with him escaped from the ship wreck, then they knewthat the island was called Malta. And the barbarous people showed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of thepresent rain, and because of the cold.

And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand. And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on Pauls hand, they said among themselves, "No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live."

And Paul shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm. Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds... (Acts 28:1-6a ACP/KJV)

Even the barbarians living on Malta in 57 AD knew that God, if society didn't catch and execute a murderer, would use nature and even the beast of earth, to avenge the murdered.

Lord Jesus, You have been so very silent these past 1,973 years, oh how we, who love you, would love a bit of help in opening the door to evangelize. Amen.

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."

Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush, Sean and Michael have, they, Rush, Sean and Michael and their audiences need the Lord.

Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.

The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.

It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
