Now it happened as Jesus went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"
So when He saw them, He said to them, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And so it was as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on His face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.
So Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?"
And He said to him, "Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well." (Luke 17:11 - 19 NKJV)
The ten lepers were outcasts in their time. They were to stand "afar off" calling out: "Unclean, unclean!" so that no one would come close and make contact with them. But when it came to the Savior they called out: "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us." As was required by the law Jesus told them to "Go, show yourselves to the priests." All ten obeyed the letter of the law and went on their way. "As they went, they were cleansed." Thus, as they obeyed the word of the Lord, they were healed. One went beyond the letter of the law to the spirit of the law by returning "and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan."
At this time of Thanksgiving (a uniquely American holiday) we need to remember the command: "In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." (1Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV )
The Jews were to give thanks by going up to Jerusalem three times a year: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of First fruits, and the Feast of the Ingathering. These traditions set them apart from other nations.
We, in America, celebrate Thanksgiving. This sets us apart from other nations. Last week I was in Pennsylvania and noticed at one major mall in King of Prussia many decorations related to Christmas. It seems that the retailers went straight from Halloween to Christmas in their sale emphasis. What happened to Thanksgiving? It is the one American holiday, which does not have a Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, red hearts, or green clothes. It has not been adulterated.
Tomorrow give God thanks for all things, big and small in your life.
Thank God when you feel like it.
Thank God when you don't feel like it.
Thank God until you feel like it.
One anonymous quote I came across states: "The really happy man is the one who can enjoy the scenery when he has to take a detour."
Another challenge that I discover here is the fact that if I cannot give thanks for something in my life then I have just found one area where God is not King. Do I really believe all that comes into my life must first go through the permission of God Himself?
Betsie and Corrie Ten Boom determined to give thanks for the things in their lives at a prison camp in Germany. When Betsie gave thanks for the fleas in their barracks Corrie was sure that her sister was wrong. They later found out that it was the fleas which kept the guards out of the dorm and thus provided them freedom to worship, pray and read the Bible.
This thankful Samaritan did go to the Priest, actually the high Priest, the High Priest after the order of Melchizedek.
I encourage you to go to God today, in the name of Jesus Christ, and give thanks. Praise Him for the perfect sacrifice provided for in Jesus Christ: full payment for sins, the offer of life - abundant and eternal, access to the Father - prayer, redemption, adoption, reconciliation, etc… Make your list go on and on. See if you can come up with at least 26 items; one for each letter in the alphabet.
One tradition that the Puritans started was in the times of abundance they would put 5 kernels of corn on their plates as a reminder of the lean times. You see the daily ration was 5 kernels of corn in the most difficult times. Thus, at Thanksgiving, they would set this amount aside on the plate in order to recall God's goodness and His provision even in their difficulties.
May God bless you this year by keeping you close as a truehearted, wholehearted bondslave of the Messiah - our Lord and Savior, Prophet, Priest, and King Jesus Christ.
As many if not most of you know, Cecily and I have been looking for a solid church and church family. Well, as you can see, from the sermon above, our prayers have been answered. We have found Jim and the family at Cornerstone Gospel Church. So, now in addition to all of you, I have Jim and the Cornerstone family to thank God for as well.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you all this Thanksgiving, and may He bless each of yu ten fold for the blessing that you have been to me. Amen.

May the Lord understand the importance of Mac and Cecily to this ministry. Lord I need them both healthy and able to continue to hold up their ends. Lord this cancer of Mac's is starting to get in the way, this ministry needs him whole, just a thought Lord, is all it will take, just a thought on Your part.
There is a young man, a veteran who suffers from some kind of chemical weapon exposure, in a Veterans hospital in Colorado, he is young, and he is saved, yet his wife just abandoned him. Please pray for him, Lord, help him and deal with her and those who hurt him, we ask this of the Father in Your name Lord Jesus, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with and bless you all, amen.
The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
