The cares of this life, man, are we full of the cares of this life or what? Isn't it great how we can go turn on the TV and get around the clock twenty-four/seven news coverage? Isn't it great that we can turn on talk radio at 7:AM and go straight through midnight with conservative talk show host after conservative talk show host?
What can be better than going on the net and getting a second, third and even fourth mortgage? How about going on line and having 24 hours of life news chat? Hey dude, how about a new Chevy for zero down and zero interest rate and the next one you buy, you are guaranteed the same low zero interest rate again. Man, what a great time we live in, a time when we are flooded with the cares of this life.
One day, oh about 1,970 years ago, Jesus was having a chat with His inner circle, they were standing at the Temple watching the tithing going on. And as people lined up to tithe, there were the rich, the really rich, the middle class and even one little ole poor woman, probably a woman who worked her fingers to the bone cleaning other peoples feet or chamber pots. A woman who didn't make very much money, but one who loved God with all her heart. As they watched, Jesus said something that obviously took the Apsotles both by surprise and may have even upset them, for they changed the subject real fast. Jesus said: "Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance(excess money) cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury(living, the money she needed for her daily sustenance) hath cast in all the living that she had."
This changing of the subject brought about the first prophecy of the Lord, of the many, that have already come true, a prophecy fulfilled a mere 40 years later. For as the Apostles looked around and talked about how big and beautiful the Temple was, Jesus said: "As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down." (This prophecy, by Jesus, was fulfilled by Roman legions under Titus in 70AD)
Jesus went on and told us a lot, He told us of everything that would come to pass from that very instant till He opens the door to the beginning of the seven years of tribulation by returning and gathering up His flock, first the dead Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians and then those who are still alive who will be caught up in the sky with Him and them.(see Paul's letter to the Thessalonians, 1st th 4:13-17 and 2ndth 2:1 and Revelation 6:2, which I believe is the Lord coming to gather His, I am, as far as I know the only one who preaches that.)
Now, let us read all of what Jesus had to say in:
Luke Chapter twenty-one
1 And Jesus looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. 2 And He saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. Mites are the smallest denomination of coin 3 And He said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: 4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury(living, the money she needed for her daily sustenance) hath cast in all the living that she had.
5 And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, He said, 6 As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. (This prophecy by Jesus was fulfilled by Roman legions under Titus in 70AD)
7 And they asked Him, saying, "Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?"
8 And He said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in My name, saying, 'I am Christ'; and 'the time draweth near': go ye not therefore after them. 9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.
10 Then said He unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: 11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers(diverse) places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven. 12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for My name's sake. 13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
Let's stop here for a moment and look at verse 13. Have you ever realized that when men say something rude about your being a Christian, that it is a great time to give your testimony? Think about it. You should always be looking for an opportunity to introduce people to the Lord. When someone says something rude about you being a Christian, it is a perfect time to say, "Yes, that is true..." Or, "No, that isn't true, let me tell you what the Bible does say..." See what I mean?
14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: 15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. Verses 14&15 are perfect examples of why you must study your bible, for the words the Lord will put in your mind are words that are His known truths, these are all found between the words" "In the beginning..." And "The Grace of our Lord Christ Jesus be with you all, amen." in your Bible.
16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. 17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. 18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish. 19 In your patience possess ye your souls.
20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed(surrounded) with armies, then know that the desolation(see Daniel 9) thereof is nigh. 21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. 22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. 24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the *times of the Gentiles be fulfilled. 25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; (*While many can not agree on when the times of the gentiles began, we all agree that we are now in it.)
26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
29 And He spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; 30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. 31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. 32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away(see Revelation 21:1): but My words shall not pass away.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged(weighed down) with surfeiting(carousing), and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, *that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. (* see Revelation 20:6)
37 And in the day time He was teaching in the temple; and at night He went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives. 38 And all the people came early in the morning to Him in the temple, for to hear Him. (Luke 21:1-38 ACP/KJV)
I guess that this would be a good place to remind you that all of the Book of revelation is available both with and without commentary at ChristianPatriot.com by going to the ACP/KJV Bible page and following the links. Luke will shortly be here too.
Now, let us think about what Jesus said about the cares of this life. In the beginning of today's thought we talked about how great modern day living is, but is it? Is it really great that we have 24 hour a day news, car payments, house payments and medical things to think about? Is it really great that we have internet, telephones and other things to keep our minds busy and up to date with everything going on around us?
Jesus said: "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." If you are so involved in the cares of this world, when will you find time to study God's Holy word? And if you do not study, how will you know what to say when you get the chance to witness? And, how will you know when the end is near, if you do not study your Bible? For how will you be able to know what today's news events mean if you do not know what is written in God's word?
Want an example? Recently, according to the 24 hour a day news, the internet, the newspapers and the talk shows, Yasser Arafat went to kneel before Jesus. The news sources tell me he died and the Bible tells me that he then knelled before the Lord, confessing, all though to late to save his soul, that Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords. But, there is much more in the bible about the satan worshiping terrorist Bill Clinton threw open the doors of the White House to.
In Ezekiel chapter 35 we read some very interesting things that could and probably do refer to Clinton's buddy Arafat. Just look at verses 10 & 11 with me: Because thou hast said, 'These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it'; whereas the LORD was there: Therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.
See where God is saying "Because thou hast said, 'These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it'" do you remember back a few years ago when disgraced and impeached ex-president Bill Clinton was trying to destroy Israel with his peace plan? When Clinton had Arafat and the former Israeli Prime Minister, who was assassinated for almost destroying Israel, together? When Israel agreed to all but one of the PLO demands, and that demand was for the Jews to turn over all control of Israel and Jerusalem to Arafat and his PLO? When Israel refuse, Arafat said "No deal".
You see, it is great that we have instant worldwide news at our finger tips, but not so that we can focus on it, worry about it and fret about it. It is great because we can instantly see, if we have studied it, Bible prophecy unfolding right before our very eyes.
And so that we can instantly fall down and pray for those who need instant prayer. As in the cases of a near bloodbath in Chile when certain thugs in the Chile security service tried to separate President Bush from the Secret Service and just last week when the left wing tried to kill President Bush in Columbia.
So, yes watch the news and take advantage of the deals you hear about, BUT, don't let the cares of this world blind you to the truths of the Word of God and the opportunities to witness that are coming about as society turns further and further from Jesus and towards the cults and satan whether satan be called allah, budda, mother nature, or whatever.
The Lord be with and bless you all. Amen.

May the Lord understand the importance of Mac and Cecily to this ministry. Lord I need them both healthy and able to continue to hold up their ends. Lord this cancer of Mac's is starting to get in the way, this ministry needs him whole, just a thought Lord, is all it will take, just a thought on Your part.
There is a young man, a veteran who suffers from some kind of chemical weapon exposure, in a Veterans hospital in Colorado, he is young, and he is saved, yet his wife just abandoned him. Please pray for him, Lord, help him and deal with her and those who hurt him, we ask this of the Father in Your name Lord Jesus, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with and bless you all, amen.
The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
