Today's Christian thought: Wednesday December 3rd, 2003
Today we are going to start a series, a series which will in all probability answer some, if not all of the questions as to why anti-Semitism is on such a rise worldwide.
It was about 4,400 years ago, about 2,000 years after the fall of Adam and Eve, that God said to Abram: ¶ Now the LORD had said unto Abram, "Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." (Genesis 12:3)
That was the beginning of the Hebrew race, the Jews. I want you to pay particular attention to what God told Abram, who was to, in about 50 years, become Abraham the father of Isaac. "And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed."
What God told Abram was that He would make Abram's descendants into a great nation, and that God would bless those nations and peoples that did good things for Abram's descendants and that likewise God would curse those that hurt Abram's descendants. To understand anti- Semitism, you must understand that everything that has happened in the last 4,400 years has centered upon and around the Jewish people. When they were obedient and obeyed and worshipped only God, the world had peace, but when God knew that the Jews were going to get out of hand, go a whoring after strange gods, God would have already raised up a nation to go and punish the Jews.
¶ At that time Berodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick. And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, "What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee?" And Hezekiah said, "They are come from a far country, even from Babylon." And he said, "What have they seen in thine house?" And Hezekiah answered, "All the things that are in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them."
And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the LORD. Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD. And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon. (2 Kings 20:12-20)
Or at times, He raised up Israel to go and even a score against a people or nation that had hurt God's chosen people.
¶ Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over His people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the LORD.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. (1 Samuel 15:1-3)
The point I am trying to make and will continue, using Scripture, to make over the next few months, is that because of the behavior of the Jews, God has caused war after war after war to happen. It is not the Jewish religion that causes God's wrath to come forward, it is because of the Jews' politics and social behavior, and stiff-necked behavior towards God that causes these problems.
The cause of anti-Semitism is not due to the religion of the Jews, it is due to their lack of religion. It is due to their politics and the things they support socially that spit in the face of God.
Let's go back to the Torah, the first five books of the Bible, the books dictated by God to His scribe Moses. In Deuteronomy chapter four, Moses is warning the Jews of what will happen if they turn from God.
¶ For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God. When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke Him to anger: I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.
And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you. And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find Him, if thou seek Him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto His voice; (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) He will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which He sware unto them. (Deuteronomy 4:24-31)
As the Jews turned from God to idolatry, and there is no other word to use than idolatry, God raised up countries, the Babylonians, the Assyrians, the Chaldeans, the Egyptians, the Romans, the Germans, the Muslims, and so on and so forth, to use as an army to chastise His people Israel. When the Jews repented, God let His anger slip and He would re-embrace His errant children. This raising armies and destroying armies, has wreaked havoc over the world for the last 4,400 years.
Do you think it puts a smile on God's face to see His chosen people, the Hebrews owning and operating abortion clinics, to be the lawyers of the ACLU, to raise money and support the liberal, the leftist and the anti-Christ crowd? It doesn't and when God has finally had enough, He uses the secular world to punish, chastise, spank His people Israel.
It is because of the anti-God behavior of the Jews that God has put the spirit of hatred against the Jews in the hearts of so many.
I'm going to close this first part of the series with two comments, one from Scripture and one from me. First Scripture:
John Chapter One From the ACP/KJV:
1 In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same (Jesus) was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by Him (Jesus); and without Him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In Him was life; and the life was the Light of men. 5 And the Light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through Him might believe. 8 He (John) was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. 11 He came unto His own(the Jews), and His own received Him not. 12 But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. 15 John bare witness of Him, and cried, saying, "This was He of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for He was before me." 16 And of His fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him.
19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, "Who art thou?" 20 And he (John) confessed, and denied not; but confessed, "I am not the Christ." 21 And they asked him, "What then? Art thou Elias?" And he saith, "I am not." "Art thou that prophet?" And he answered, "No."
22 Then said they unto him, "Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?" 23 He said, "I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias." 24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees. 25 And they asked him, and said unto him, "Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?" 26 John answered them, saying, "I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; 27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose."
28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing. 29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. 30 This is He of whom I said, 'After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for He was before me.' 31 And I knew Him not: but that He should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water."
32 And John bare record, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon Him. 33 And I knew Him not: but He that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, the same is He which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. 34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God."
35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; 36 And looking upon Jesus as He walked, he saith, "Behold the Lamb of God!"
37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. 38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, "Rabbi", (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) "where dwellest Thou?" 39 He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where He dwelt, and abode with Him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.
40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. 41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, "We have found the Messiah," which is, being interpreted, the Christ. 42 And he (Andrew) brought him(Peter) to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, He said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, a stone.
43 The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me. 44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, "We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." 46 And Nathanael said unto him, "Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth?" Philip saith unto him, "Come and see."
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! 48 Nathanael saith unto him, "Whence knowest thou me?" Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, "Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel." 50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these. 51 And He saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man. (John 1 ACP/KJV)
Now my closing thought: It would not be hard to end the anti-Semitism, all the Jews need to do is return to God and the law of the LORD; and on His law meditate day and night. In other words, put away tradition and seek ye the face of the Lord God Creator of all the Universe. And since no man knoweth the hour or the day in which the Lord will rapture His church, there may, and I emphasize the word may, still be time for the Jews to repent one more time and allow a period of peace to envelop the earth. But that would mean turning away from commentary and turning to Holy Scripture, it would mean putting God ahead of profit, social prestige and it would mean putting aside their refusal to look at and seek the truth about Yeshua.
May the Lord our God find these thoughts to be of some use, amen.
Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush and Michael have, they, Rush, Michael and their audiences need the Lord.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
