Ok, let us now think about the times, the news and the great event that we celebrate this month. And let's see how much the first half of Luke 22 has in it that gives us great peace and understanding of today's times and news, and most importantly He we serve and His great event celebrated this month.
Luke Chapter Twenty-two
1 Now the feast of unleavened bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. 2 And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill Him; for(but) they feared the people. 3 Then entered satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve. 4 And he went his way, and communed with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him unto them. 5 And they were glad, and covenanted to give him money. 6 And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray Him unto them in the absence of the multitude. There are those within our ranks, the ranks of the solid Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian communities that underestimate the power of satan. Don't you be one of them, think about Judas. Judas had spent just about 3 years with the Lord. He was with Him day and night, just about 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for those 3 years, yet, satan got to him.
Think about Adam and Eve, they walked and talked with God every night, yet, satan got to Eve and then to Adam via Eve. My brothers and sisters, do not under any circumstances underestimate satan. Be as leery of him as you would be of a deadly snake in the dark, but know this, our God, is more powerful than satan ever dreamt of being. You can withstand satan through the power of the Holy Spirit that dwells within you, but do not underestimate satan and do not try to take him on alone, only through prayer. But, as you should try to avoid that deadly snake in the dark, it is best to always do all you can to avoid any and all contact with satan.
7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the Passover must be killed. 8 And He sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. That Passover was going to be the only dual Passover in history. While the Jews thought only of the four legged little lamb they were going to be munching on, the true Lamb, the Lamb of God was being offered up through the shedding of His blood by torture, scourging and on the cross for you and me.
9 And they said unto Him, "Where wilt Thou that we prepare?" 10 And He said unto them, Behold, when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in. 11 And ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, 'The Master saith unto thee, Where is the guest chamber, where I shall eat the passover with My disciples?' 12 And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready. 13 And they went, and found as He had said unto them: and they made ready the Passover. Have you ever wondered why Jesus sent John and Peter and not any other two of His Apostles? I think it may have been because John and Peter were His two most loyal and trusted Apostles. You see in those days men did not carry water, only women, it was the job of a woman to get the water, not a man. Additionally, Jerusalem, in those days had a population of over a million at the Passover. Here was Jesus saying go find and impossible needle in a hay stack. I think the other Apostles were not strong enough believers to be trusted to do what they were told in light of the seemingly impossibility of the task.
14 And when the hour was come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him. 15 And He said unto them, With desire(deep heart and soul longing) I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: 16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. Now, before you read any further, I want you to take a pencil and a piece of paper and write down: when does verse 16 be fulfilled? Take that piece of paper and put it in your desk, or better yet, put it taped onto your 2005 calendar a year from now. See if you can answer it then, not hesitantly but with confidence.
17&18 And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. Whoa, don't put that paper away quite yet, write down on that paper: "When does the Kingdom of God come so that Jesus can once again have a sip of wine?"
19 And He took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is My body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of Me. 20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in My blood, which is shed for you. At your church, how serious is communion taken?
Is it just a formality? or is it a time when you really focus, as a church family, on what Jesus did for you?
To those of you who refuse to go find a solid church family, by either staying in a church of Laodicia or attending no church at all, I would further ask you this: "How do you do communion? What do you do to remind yourself of what Jesus did for you?"
There are many out there that say "I have looked and there are no solid churches around us". To that I would have to say, "Cecily and I looked for over four years, it did not stop us from attending churches, how else will you find a church if you do not go to various churches?" And to those of you who stay in the whited tombs of the churches of Laodicia, I would tell you that it took years for Steve and Janice to escape a church of Laodicia and find a real church. Today Steve is the Associate Pastor of The Church for the American Christian Patriot.
21&22 But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth Me is with Me on the table. And truly the Son of Man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom He is betrayed! Well, how many of you have kids with short attention spans? Or kids that change the subject and interrupt you? Or, as in the case of the Apostles, kids that take what you say, chew it up, and turn it around so that what you are saying no longer focuses on You, but on them? Don't get to mad at them, for look at what Jesus had to put up with from His "little children" in verses 23 and 24.
23 And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing. 24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. 25 And He said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. 26 But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.
27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat(at dinner), or he that serveth? Is not he that sitteth at meat? But I am among you as He that serveth. 28 Ye are they which have continued with Me in My temptations(torture, crucifixion and death). 29 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as My Father hath appointed unto Me; 30 That ye may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. There is a guy who pitches for the Red Sox, the sports world thinks he has a pretty good curve ball. Above we see that the master of the curve ball is really Jesus. What a curve ball the Lord threw His Apostles and through them, us. Jesus ask who is the big shot, the guy eating dinner or the humble foot washing servant that serves the man eating dinner? This isn't a case of a man in a restaurant, this is a man who has his own private servants to wait on him hand and foot. Kind of like the butler who follows John Kerry around waiting to bring his master a peanut butter sandwich. For you see, everyone one in that room knew that Jesus was the Son of God, they knew it, they knew that He was their Lord and their Master, yet He stripped down to nothing but a towel wrapped around His waist and He washed their feet. So, who is greater, God or the ones God died for? Quite a curve ball isn't it.
31&32 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. I wanna tell you about a young Lad that strengthens me, she is a Born Again washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian, and she has a teenage daughter, so she is busy. Yet, she never seems to lack the time to send me a picture or a card or something. Sometimes her letters are so long that it takes me weeks to read them, but she is patient, she waits patiently for me to write back. How many of you take the time to strengthen a Christian? Do you think Jesus was saying this to Peter just for Peter? If so, why Jesus include it in the book addressed to every Born Again believer, the Holy Bible? No, each of you, immediately after you got saved, should have started strengthening your brothers and sisters in the Lord. Julie, you have truly been a blessing to me, you and Molly both.
33 And he said unto him, Lord, "I am ready to go with Thee, both into prison, and to death." 34 And Jesus said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest Me. Verse 34 tells us how very much Jesus loves Peter, for no father spanks a neighbor child only his own son. Only the son whom he truly loves does he spank.
35 And Jesus said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, "Nothing." 36 Then said He unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. Matthew 4,mark13, Luke 21, Revelation and more, God tells us of what is coming and what will be being done to Christians. Had verse 36 been only for the Apostles, Jesus would have told us. No verse 36 is for ever Christian. Men, God has given you a family, that family's security is your responsibility. You are the one that must make sure you can feed them, house them, shelter them and DEFEND them in times of persecution. I have written enough thoughts on this, so I will not elaborate, but I will remind you that you, as the man of the hose, are to do for your family what Jesus did for the church. Defend them, suffer and die in their place. And God help, and have mercy on, any of you who sends his daughter out to be a member of the military or a police. I really want to hear your answer when God ask you why you took that little girl child he loaned you to care for and set her between you and the muslim horde, you and drug dealers, rapist and murderers.
37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in Me, AND HE WAS RECKONED AMONG THE TRANSGRESSORS: for the things concerning Me have an end. Do you see how Jesus says that all things concerning Him had an end? That doesn't mean that Jesus has an end, it means that all things prophesied in the Old Testament concerning the proof of the Messiah, have a complection to them, and that all of them will be completed before He is taken up into heaven. That once He finishes them, they are done, there are none left. That is so we know that He is not re-crucified each time some nut in a black robe takes a piece of stale bread holds it up and breaks it in half, claiming that they are crucifying the Lord again. It is so that there is no way anyone can say, "look, Jesus didn't do this..." Or, that anything else will ever be added to what the Christ must do to prove He is the Christ. Every last requirement in the Old Testament, the book of the requirements of being the Christ, were fulfilled by Jesus once and for all.
38 And they said, "Lord, behold, here are two swords." Here, we have those pesky Apostles interrupting the Lord again, But, Jesus simply continues along with what He is talking about, the requirements of being the Christ. So He continues as if He had not even heard them, in regards to the things that must be done and that He will do and finish, once and for all.
And He said unto them, It is enough. It is enough, is not that two swords amongst His Apostles are enough, what is enough is the hundreds upon hundreds, some figure 330 plus prophecies that Jesus first caused to be written by the Prophets and the Psalmists in the Old testament and then fulfilled in the 33 years or so that He was on the earth first as a baby in the womb born of a virgin and then as a boy and finally as Jesus the God Man. (Luke 22:1-38 ACP/KJV)
Well, I guess you now see why I have only done the first half of Luke 22 today. Guys, I know there are some hard things in the word of God. I know it is not easy being a Christian head of the family of even a single Christian man these days, but you must try. I'm going to close with a couple of reminders, reminders not from me, but from God.
But whosoever shall deny Me before men, him will I also deny before My Father which is in heaven.
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
He that loveth father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after Me, is not worthy of Me.
He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for My sake shall find it.
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
As we come nearer and nearer to CHRISTmas, what are you planning on giving Jesus for CHRISTmas? What are you planning to give He who created all things, for CHRISTmas?
Lord, forgive our sins and help us to do that which is right in Your sight and please Lord intercede for us with the Father.

May the Lord understand the importance of Mac and Cecily to this ministry. Lord I need them both healthy and able to continue to hold up their ends. Lord this cancer of Mac's is starting to get in the way, this ministry needs him whole, just a thought Lord, is all it will take, just a thought on Your part.
There is a young man, a veteran who suffers from some kind of chemical weapon exposure, in a Veterans hospital in Colorado, he is young, and he is saved, yet his wife just abandoned him. Please pray for him, Lord, help him and deal with her and those who hurt him, we ask this of the Father in Your name Lord Jesus, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with and bless you all, amen.
The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
